Is there a way I could import posts & users off of the old database, if I were to start over completely?

I am so irritated right now, that this may be best.

I was trying too from 3.85 to 4.03 but then I had a database error that would crash at VB 4 Beta 4 during the upgrade, so I couldn't go any further.

So then, I tried to a database backup and low & behold that had errors all over it.

So now my site is just completely jacked and I don't know where to begin to fix it.

im sure it could be fixed, so just hang around for someone like lynne or someone to show up you really need to go start a ticket on vbull i think let them fix it

the only other way is to just do a clean install over your database and use impex. an thats a risky option in its self and i have never used it

It would help if you posted the exact error messages that you are having. An url to your forum or a screenshot would be even better.

I just want to find out the posts & users table from the old database. And then I'll just do a clean install from there.

You can impex your users and posts from your 3.8 backup. however, if that database has errors in it, you'll probably have the same sort of problems you are currently having. (I should add that this is not a recommended, nor supported, method of upgrading your site to 4.0)
