How can I stop the facebook connect in my header from looking so screwed up?

try making it float on left.

- something like <div style="float: left; margin-left: 100px;">"your facebook code"</div>

change 100px, with any number you wish, as it may fits with your needs.

Sorry I did not realize you were using a custom style.

You need to add the facebook images to: images/vblue_dark/misc/

facebook.gif
facebook_logout.gif

Those images are in 4.0.3 from vB.
