This mod will hide the real Ip of the SuperAdmin in posts, in the MOD CP when searching for ip''s. After you install it, go to Settings-Options-Message Posting and Editing Options. And all the way to the bottom you will see 3 settings for the mod. You can enable and disable it, you can also enter a bogus ip for SuperAdmin which then will be displayed instead of the real ip. This is ideal for privacy. By default it affects those Super Admins whose userid is 1. If your userid is not 1 then enter at the third mod settings your own userid.
Things to consider 1: This mod it will hide the real ip of Superadmins for all the posts made before, present and all the time that the mod will be installed.
2: When you uninstall the mod, the past posts made from before, will still hide the ip of the superadmin. Whereas the posts made after the uninstall of the mod, will display the real ip of SuperAdmin normally.
After a request from a customer of mine I expanded it to hide the ip of Super Admin at the online list as well. The expanded version can be found at my forum but it is paid:

Very useful mod, with one exception:
When I had logged in on other admins accounts, using the "Log In As User" modification, I could still see my IP in the "Who's Online" piece at the footer. Therefore, this mod does not reach everywhere.
To say it works, I also went to the posts, and the IP that I set it to "Withheld" was displayed, therefore this mod just working, just not fully.

Yes, good mod but it doesn't hide the ip on the 'who is on line' page.
Be great if it did.

The thing is that it was not meant to hide it at the online list but only at the posts as stated in my first post. But I will look into expanding it to hide it at the online list as well when I will have some free time.

That'd be wonderful, actually.

Two issues...
1) Real IP is still visible in the mod log
2) No caching? This is called by Mysql every time someone views a thread. Easy way to crash your server if you have an active forum!

Seriously, not even going to acknowledge this post? Am I wrong that the query is not cached and is run every-time someone views a thread? On my board it was being called multiple times a second.

Sorry for the late reply. It is not that I wasn''t acknowledging or ignoring your posts but due to my lack of free time I haven''t checked the mod site too often. Anyway, the mod is updated now. The query doesn't run every time as before.
However, for the second part of your suggestion, I won''t be adding new features. It hides the ip in posts only. But you are free to modify to your needs for your personal use.
Thank you for your understanding and your patience :)

Thank you for the update! Very useful and I installed again! I'm going to edit it later on so that it takes out my IP in the Mod Log and in the Who's Online.

The query thing was a big problem, the other stuff is manageable. Thanks for the update!

I know this may sound stupid.
But is there any way you can set it so you can hide multiple users IP addresses.
Because I need it for my friends forums.
Because I'm the second owner of his website and I manage basically everything on his forums.

Yes, that is possible but it exeeds the funcionality of my mod. That would be best done as a ttoal new mod. Try to ask at the request forums and hopefully someone will create it for you. It shouldn''t be too hard to do it.

Simply uninstall it from Plugins & Products->Manage Products.
P.s. It was never meant to work on Acp but on posts only as described clearly at the very first post here btw.

Unfortunatelly there is no real way of completely hiding the IP address by using Plug-Ins. But you can easily disable IP logging by editing a single file directly. This has the benefits of not only disabling logging for posts, but globally, even in error-, admin- and event-logs, as well as PMs and the currently online list.
Open file includes/class_core.php
Line 2259 find
return $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];
replace with
global $vbulletin;
if ($vbulletin->userinfo['userid'] == $vbulletin->options['superadmin_id'])
return "127.0.0.1";
return $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];
and Line 2269 find
$alt_ip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];
replace with
global $vbulletin;
if ($vbulletin->userinfo['userid'] == $vbulletin->options['superadmin_id'])
return "127.0.0.1";
$alt_ip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];
But I strongly suggest NOT to install this hack, for you will not be able to trace crackers that got into an admin account.

Works good.
And if ya made sure to change your PWs regularly as well as adding a great file to your server called. (.htaccess)...where you can allow or deny all the IPs ya want form accessing the ACP, server, or where ever...even if your account got hacked...they can't use your acct. as their IP is not on the allow list.
Anyways..I'm off topic.
This mod works fine for what it is.
There are plenty of settings to make sure no one sees any IPs anywhere.

A good question is where does this hack NOT hide the IP if you buy the premium version ?
Can you find the IP anywhere if you buy this?

You could probably use this mod and modify it further to do that....

This paid version will hide it at the online list as well, besides in posts and at the modcp when the supermoderators and moderators will search for ips.

Are you going to update as promised so it hides the whos online list as well? Lots of people are still waiting for the 3.8 version that puts the fake IP everywhere. You did promise many of us. Still waiting..
