Major Lite Features

Advanced Shout Control: You have the ability to post shouts, edit your shouts, PM shouts to other users, Ignore other users, insert /Me commands, insert smilies, Bbcode, change font, text colour etc.

Advanced Staff Control: Give your staff members customised permissions to allow them to do certain actions, on all or selected instances and chat rooms. Permissions include: Silencing users, banning users, editing user shouts, Creating/Editing "Sticky Notices", Pruning shouts and much more.

Resource Optimisation: vBShout implements an Advanced Optimisation Protocol to save your forum resources. Enabling this will further reduce the amount of resources consumed by the shoutbox. AOP was originally featured in Inferno vBShout, and DBTech vBShout takes it to the next level by ensuring that all your chats are always up-to-date without taking up needless amount of resources.

Customisable New Post / Thread Notifications: Allows you to make the shoutbox post when a new thread is created, or a new post is made. You can make this happen with all threads (Which will take user permissions into account) or only threads/posts from certain forums.

Shoutbox Tabs: New PM's or User Chat Rooms create Tabs. Tabs will highlight to let you know something new has happened, and you can even set them to make sounds to alert you.

Active Users Shout-bit: Shows the users active in the tab/instance you are, with the option to view everyone who can enter/exit the room at will (and thus see any shouts posted) in a pop-up to save resources. Perfect for seeing what's going on and who's around at a glance.

Context Menus: Many places now make use of context menus ? less having to remember /commands, one click access to the most useful and commonly used functions, and the ability for users to access their shoutbox settings directly from the shoutbox itself.

Custom Chat Rooms: Your users can now set up their own Chat-Tabs, where they get to set who can come and chat. Perfect for clubs, guilds etc. Admins can also create permanent Chat rooms for specific usergroups etc. ? perfect for a staff only chat room for instance, or to reward loyal members!

Custom Shoutbox Instances: Ever wanted a separate shoutbox just for your admin forum? Got a part of your board only for VIP members? Now you can set a shoutbox specific to those areas.

Shoutbox Sounds: You asked for it, we delivered. Customisable sounds now available on receiving shouts, Invites, PM's and more. (Requires QuickTime Plugin)

Archive: View all the shouts posted since the last pruning, Also shows you the top X shouters, a variety of interesting and useful shoutbox statistics, and allows you to search previous shouts.

Logging: Worried about staff members pruning the shoutbox to cover their tracks? Don't worry, with our advanced logging options, you can make sure a hard copy is kept of every action taken.

Revamped Thread / Reply Notices: Do you have a massive board with 100+ forums? With the revamped New Thread / Reply Notices page, you can edit exactly what forums show what notices in what instance all from one page.

Downloadable Shoutbox Archives: You and your shoutbox admins can download a complete dump of the Shoutbox' archive for all instances. With 3 supported formats (tab-delimited CSV, XML and TXT), there's something for everyone whether your purpose is review or programming.

Easy Shoutbox Notice Editing: You and usergroups with the "Can Set Sticky" permission can now edit the notice by double-clicking the Sticky in the shoutbox. Quickly fix typos or rapidly update with new turn of events, editing it is never more than two clicks away.

Shoutbox Report System: Members can now report offensive shouts by using the shout context menu. When a report has been submitted, those with the "Can Moderate Chat" permission will see how many reports need their attention via a new chat tab in the Shoutbox.

Easy User Infractions: The context menu also adds a quick link to infract users, for those who can access vBulletin's infraction system. This lets you quickly punish members who are overstepping your bounds.

Blog Integration: Give blogs a more prominent place on your forum by having the Shoutbox post notifications when someone posts a new blog or comments on a blog.

Professional Only benefits:

Personal User Shoutbox Options: Integrated with User CP, User gets to decide which things show on their shoutbox, PM's, notifications etc. Even what editor options show up for them. They also get to decide where their text input area goes for TOTAL customisation.

Ignore List: Allows users to keep track of who they are ignoring, and control this option via a list.

Custom Commands: Lets you and your users create their own commands for use. For example, create pre-set warning comments ? Staff member types /firstwarning, Text appears saying "This is your first warning for breaking the shoutbox rules. You can view these rules at [link] If you have a question about this warning, please PM myself. Thanks.

Extra Tab Options: The ability to set separate tabs for system notifications and notices is available in the PRO version, fantastic for keeping your chat tab uncluttered.

Detach Shoutbox: Lets you and your users have the shoutbox open in a seperate browser window/tab for easier use etc.

Additional Moderation Commands: The ability to add/edit the sticky notice through the shoutbox.

Advanced Archive Searching: Ability to search by any combination of username, Last X Hours, Start/End date, as well as keyword. Filter searches, sort by criteria etc.

Extended Instance Options: Allows you to have separate notices per instance, set usergroup settings for individual instances, and even set unique staff permissions for each individual instance.

Expanded Context Menus: Lets your member/staff use the context menu to add/update the sticky note, Ban and Unban users, Ignore/Unignore users and prune individual user shouts.

Extra User Chat Room Moderation: Shows a page displaying every use-created chat room, who made it, how many active members/total members it has etc, and options to close it etc.

EDIT: Even deleted the old file before uploading the new one.

Replace line 130 with print_description_row(construct_link_code($vbphras e['restart'], "vbshout.php?" . $vbulletin->session->vars['sessionurl'] . "do=commandlog"), 0, 6, 'thead', 'right');
then, that will get rid of it for sure D:

I'm currently using inferno vbshout pro, will this over-write the old version?

DragonByte Tech

No it won't overwrite that version.
We're looking into creating an addon that imports your old Inferno vBShout shouts into DBTech vBShout shoutbox :)

bad... why only php 5 ?.........

DragonByte Tech
05-03-2010, 02:52 PM
PHP4 is no longer supported by PHP, and is older, slower and more insecure than PHP5.

Beyond that, this mod is a port of the vB4 version, and PHP5 is a requirement of vB4. Sorry :(

Fillip

FleXy
05-03-2010, 06:13 PM
hmm, intretesting, because year ago my server admins say me that its not great to upgrate to php5 because its slowly and not secure :-)

DragonByte Tech
05-03-2010, 07:56 PM
PHP5 has matured a lot over a year mate :)
PHP 5.2 is incredibly fast and stable, and all good hosting providers have, or offer, upgrades to this version.

PHP 5.3, however, is strongly not recommended at this point in time. A lot of scripts still use code that makes PHP 5.3 fill the page up with error notices (which are like errors, only they don't stop the script from working).

I can of course not guarantee that you don't have some really ancient code on your server that won't work with PHP 5.2, but I'm 99% certain upgrading to 5.2 will be fine :)

FleXy
05-03-2010, 10:44 PM
about upgrading, its my own server and its not problem to request upgrade at any time, but today I specialy again consulted with my admin and it not recomment to upgrade because, yes, like you already wrote - other scripts can begin to bug... and if current configuration is stable, its not recomended to upgrate also...

and about php5 is faster he say that "maybe at some scripts that use some new functions"

do you use much new php5 functions at the vbshout ? is it difficult to make vbsout php4 compatible?

DragonByte Tech
05-03-2010, 10:52 PM
I'm not entirely sure if I use many PHP5 functions, because vB4 requires PHP5 and as such I didn't think too much about what functions I used.

The odds of scripts breaking from PHP4 -> PHP5 is very small, though, and for the most part they can be hid via error_reporting() changes.

Rolling back PHP isn't much more difficult than upgrading, so I would suggest you upgrade and if you start having problems, you can roll back.

FleXy
05-03-2010, 11:03 PM
maybe best idea try to install vbsout and maybe will work?) i have intermediate knolage of php and can review code and try to understand parts where its does not work.. and we will make some changes to make it mork with php4 and php5 ?

DragonByte Tech
05-03-2010, 11:11 PM
The main parts that's preventing it from working on PHP4 is the scope keywords in shoutbox.php - but I don't guarantee that's all.

At any rate, I like the ability to take advantage of PHP5's functions so I don't think I'll be making a vBShout version to support a PHP version that not even PHP themselves support anymore :p

FleXy
05-03-2010, 11:30 PM
resonable...
so far will try ti use MGC Chatbox Evo.... or maybe best idea to install vbshout 2.5.0 what do you think? :-)

DragonByte Tech
05-04-2010, 01:35 AM
Totally up to yourself. Neither of those have anywhere near the number of features vBShout 5.0 though.

Personally i would recommend trying to upgrade to PHP v5, if it causes problems, it's very simple to roll back to v4, and you'll have to update to PHP v5 eventually. Most places no longer support v4 - including the PHP developers, and indeed the new versions of vBulletin.

Your call though.

Gonna keep an eye on this until bugs are ironed out. Looks good.It should be relatively bug free atm, though it's impossible to get it 100% bug free :p
You should give it a try, allow only a few select usergroups to access it, and if you find any bugs, report them.
I'll fix them ASAP.
The less people report bugs, the less chance of them being discovered :)

Got it working switching from auto display to manual. You're probably missing the template hook in the template then, thanks for letting me know :D
That'll help me in further support questions from others with the same problem as you :)

I think there's a problem in this new 5.1 release. Every time I try to write on a new chat room my message appears in the main room. What should I do to fix this problem?
Same. This also happens with private messages to others in the shoutbox.

Also, one of my moderators can't access their CP. The following error occurs:
Call to a member function register() on a non-object in /***/public_html/forum/dbtech/vbshout/includes/hooks/usercp_nav_complete.php

Disabling the mod until it's developed a bit further, with less bugs.

DragonByte Tech

Same.I'm unable to reproduce this.
This also happens with private messages to others in the shoutbox.Private Messages are intended to be shown in the main chat room tab (in addition to the manually created Private Dialogue between the two users).
In fact, I discovered a bug where if a PM was sent while you were in a chat room, the PM became unreadable to the other user (unless the other user was also in the same chat room) until a PM dialogue between the two users was created.

This has been fixed for v5.2.

Also, one of my moderators can't access their CP. The following error occurs:I'm unable to confirm this. You may have another mod that interrupts the usercp_nav_start hook execution.

That being said, I'll add some "protection" from this error even though it's caused by a mod conflict on your end.

Private Messages are intended to be shown in the main chat room tab (in addition to the manually created Private Dialogue between the two users).

Yeah, they show in the main chat with [PM] next to the usernames. I'm aware, but that's not what's happening.

No message shows in the private message whatsoever, and instead shows in the main chat, without the [PM] next to it, for everyone to see.

DragonByte Tech
05-08-2010, 05:36 PM
The PM issue is related to the Active Users tab error described above.
It's a bug that only affects the Lite version.

I'll upload a hotfix within a few minutes.

Please excuse my inexperience. I uploaded the files from the "upload" folder to the forums directory. I do have a "Forums" and "Forums_4.0" directory. I tried uploading the "upload" folder to both directories and got the same message.

Should I upload each file separately in the uploads folder to the forums directory? I uploaded the entire uploads folder to the forums directory.

I do have a cache folder in my vb directory would that be of any issues?

Also whenever I invite a member I get the 'invalid chat room' error.

There is no option tho select sounds or PM's when clicking on the title. Only archive. And when I click this, I get"

I want to congratulate you on a fantastic product! I have used every chatbox available, and this is by far the best one I have seen yet. Thank you!!

If you would permit me a few questions though!

I cannot get the sounds to work.
Is it possible to have this on my Who is Online page?

Thanks again!!

Have you installed the Quicktime plugin for the sounds? What steps have you taken? =)

I'll let Belazor answer the WOL question.

I had to disable this, I could not access one of my threads, and got some weird vbseo error. Disabled it worked again. Hope we can get it sorted.

Hmm, is it possible you could give us the exact error? Difficult for us to debug without that =P Also, what version of VBSeo are you running? Did it only happen with this one thread or with all threads? Was the thread made before/after the mod was installed?

(To the people who I didn't reply to, Fillip will handle your issues, my technical support ability is limited to making sure the correct info is available for when the coders get online =P)

Thanks, Iain

I did not see any instructions about Quick time. So no i did not.

Here is the error when clicking on 'archive'

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare handle_bbcode_video() (previously declared in /home/thebull/public_html/forums/includes/class_bbcode.php(2469) : eval()'d code:61) in /home/thebull/public_html/forums/dbtech/vbshout/includes/libs/shoutbox.php(2727) : eval()'d code on line 90

Currently I am running vbseo 3.5 rc2, did not get around to upgrade yet. But I had no other issues before.

It seems only in this one thread. Cannot go through all threads.

This is the error:Fatal error: Call to undefined method vB_Template::fetch_template_raw() in /home/thebull/public_html/forums/vbseo/includes/functions_vbseo_hook.php on line 25

Still don't see any options under the title when clicking on the shoutbox title. Other than 'Archive'.

Oops, perhaps should have made the quicktime requirement clearer. It was up on the first post/feature list

"Shoutbox Sounds: You asked for it, we delivered. Customisable sounds now available on receiving shouts, Invites, PM's and more. (Requires QuickTime Plugin)"

Fillip will have a look at your other issue when he gets online.

You're supposed to upload the contents of the upload folder, not the upload folder itself :)

Is it possible to have this on my Who is Online page?Add ,online to the deployment field in the instance editor.

Also whenever I invite a member I get the 'invalid chat room' error.I'll test it out on some of my live boards, and if I can confirm it I'll fix it for 5.2 :)

I'll see if anything can be done about this.

I'm unable to confirm the "Invalid Chat Room" error. This leads me to believe you may have been attempting to invite a member to a chat room that you created in the AdminCP.
This isn't possible because those chat rooms are meant for usergroups only.
You can only invite members to the chat rooms you create manually in the Shoutbox itself.

Taurus1

You can only invite members to the chat rooms you create manually in the Shoutbox itself.Create members in the chatbox....you lost me...sorry!

Anyways....the biggest concern for me is the error I get trying to access one of my threads. The vbseo something error.

EDIT: uhhh duhh....sorry I get it, create chatrooms......you don't mean create members....lol

I created the chatrooms from within the shoutbox itself. And even inviting a member to the default shoutbox or room, gives me the same error.

DragonByte Tech
05-09-2010, 12:20 PM
"Inviting a member to the default shoutbox" - what? You can only invite a member to a Chat Room, and only one you create with /createchat.

Additionally, the "Cannot redeclare handle_bbcode_video()" function is not an error with vBShout, it's with the [VIDEO] mod you have installed.
You need to contact the author of that mod and tell them this:
You need to wrap the handle_bbcode_video() function declaration in a if (!function_exists('handle_bbcode_video')) check.

The vBSEO error is a bug in the vBSEO software.
They check for the presence of the vB_Template class, where they should be checking the version number.
It's not something I can fix, sorry.

Hmm... Not sure how much more you're expecting of Fillip here to be honest.

He's trying to understand what you're saying (since there appears to have been a mix up in communication at least once before)

Not only is he telling you exactly what problems the other modifications have, he's also, where possible, letting you know how to get them resolved. You'll find that if you manage to find any other products that do the things ours do (Which you likely won't, as ours are the most advanced on the market) Then they would also run into the bugs in these other products.

Not really sure how you can hold bugs in other products against us to be honest, especially when we're giving instructions on how to fix them...

*shrugs* By all means though, if the product is too complex for you to use (which is sometimes the case with modifications with the scope of ours) then I hope you find a simpler alternative which meets your needs =)

=) Wasn't making an accusation at all. You seemed to be struggling with some of the concepts (user created chatrooms vs ACP/Default chatrooms & instances for example) And I simply noted that perhaps it was for the best that you decided to find a shoutbox which didn't have these advanced features.

I would be very surprised if you had mods on your site that caused conflicts - that would be a kind of silly thing to do. By definition if a mod has conflicts you get them resolved or remove it... So i'm not sure what you not having conflicts on your site still proves?

If you talk to any experienced developer on vb.org they will tell you that when breaking new ground mod conflicts are not uncommon - often the only time a bug in software gets noticed is when someone tries to do something new and stumbles across it (Otherwise the bug would have been fixed long ago)

In short: When a modification is doing something new, it's not surprising that bugs in other modifications become apparent. I would expect an experienced user to know this and not blame it on 'incompatabilites' or 'conflicts with other mods'

As for the people skills thing, thanks for your input, we'll definetely take it into consideration. I hope you also take my above points into consideration the next time you try to apportion blame onto someone who is not only supplying you with a free modification for your forum, but is also taking the time for free to help you resolve the issues your customised setup is having. Perhaps being more understanding of what causes these issues, as well as less hostile and rude will see you get a nicer reaction in future. =)

Hope that clears things up for you.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the majority of users here on vbulletin.org who do understand the nature of doing things no one else does, and the inherent risks that involves, and who help us out by reporting issues and allowing us to help resolve them while remaining calm and pleasant. You guys are the reason we still release things for free here on the org. Please remember that coders don't get paid for releasing things here, and often it is only the gratitude and reasonable behaviour of the members here that encourage coders to return with cool new stuff =)

Not a problem at all Taurus.

For what it's worth, Fillip is Norwegian, so his first language isn't English. He speaks it perfectly but sometimes the context of some words aren't apparent to him (Such as using what?)

On my part, I do apologise if it seemed like i was criticising you with the simpler product comment - it was intended as genuine. For a lot of people cleaner and simpler is better, and a product which has detailed features just isn't worth the learning curve - It wasn't intended as a comment on your ability or intelligence.

If you have any trouble with any of our products feel free to request support, we don't hold grudges and we hope that you'll give our stuff another try.

Thanks for your considerate post.

I have installed this mod, and it works great by what I have seen so far. Although I do have two questions.

1. As stated by another user, I have also lost a link in my nav-bar. I have "Meet-The-Staff" installed and running, but since installing the Shoutbox, that navigation link is no longer showing in the nav-bar. Now, this is only happening on the /forums.php page of the forum where I have the shout box actually showing on the forum. The MTS link is showing on other pages of the forum, for EX: when clicking "New Posts" the MTS link shows up in the nav bar. Please check my forum (www.syntheticmotorsports.org/forums.php) to confirm this issue.

2. This is not an issue as much as simply wanting to change one thing. I would like to change the default color of the background inside the chat itself so that it is a lighter color, I think this would make the shouts easier to read for those using it.

Thanks for the assistance and I think this is an outstanding mod! GREAT WORK!!!

Who can prune is dependant on the usergroup permissions in the Instance Management (the Edit Permissions link). If you are in a different usergroup from the other admins, that would explain it.

Please forgive my inexperience in adding such code as suggested. I know it is probably pretty simple, but in the file you suggested for changing the color, can you tell me the way to code the color change for the background there so I don;t mess it up? I ask because I don;t currently see an option for that there, I have quoted what I have there now if you would not mind showing me what to change to get the color I want. I can find the color code, I just need to know how to implement it into what is already there to avoid mistakes.

Running 4.0.3 on Test Environment.

First, congratulations on a terrific mod. It's very advanced and I think, should our membership grow as we hope, it will be very advantageous for my RPG Storytelling site's members. Currently, it is installed in a test environment on 4.0.3. Once I work my own bugs out, I will be considering the upgrade to the Pro version as I'm very impressed with this item.

Now...If I may transfer Pro when I move the board live, I would consider upgrading now.

Anyway...I have looked through the posts to see if anyone else has encountered this issue...I seriously think it is a ME error and not a product error, but have been unable to sort the solution.

Notices: The option to set Notices does not appear in the Forum Manager section of my Admin CP or within the table for actually editing each forum either. Am I misreading that this might be a feature for PRO only?

This question might not be one to ask you guys...but...

Can I place the shoutbox so that it appears above my forums sort of like it is another category itself? And can it be displayed everywhere? Often my writers get into a writing tagging war while hanging in the shoutbox and it is easier for them to do this if they only have to go to the top of a page to leave a Tag for the other writer.

Wow...this was lots more question/info than I thought. I appreciate any and all help you can give me.

If you need access to my test site, please let me know. I will have to do that via PM as it is not set-up for public view yet.

Warmest Regards,

Alisa

PS: If you add avatars to this, it will be beyond perfect. My writers are vain little things that love to see their character images everywhere. *winks and grins*

Most smilies do work but some codes are not parsing.Disable the UserCP-related plugins in the plugin manager.

Now...If I may transfer Pro when I move the board live, I would consider upgrading now.Upgrading to Pro is a seamless process; you get instant access after purchasing, and all you do is upload all the files from the zip's /upload/ folder and import the new XML file.
That'll overwrite the Lite product with the Pro version, and from there on out you don't need to come to the org for updates anymore :)

Notices: The option to set Notices does not appear in the Forum Manager section of my Admin CP or within the table for actually editing each forum either. Am I misreading that this might be a feature for PRO only? This is in the new "Notifications" menu entry in the vBShout entry in the AdminCP nav :)

Can I place the shoutbox so that it appears above my forums sort of like it is another category itself? To do that, you'd need to customise the HTML of the shoutbox quite a lot.
As such, it's nothing we can help with unless you actually hire us to do so :(

And can it be displayed everywhere? Often my writers get into a writing tagging war while hanging in the shoutbox and it is easier for them to do this if they only have to go to the top of a page to leave a Tag for the other writer. You have full control over where your Shoutbox is located, and on what pages.
Click "Edit" in the Instance Management and you'll see what I mean; you can specify what scripts it shows on, and either let it insert automatically or manually place it by editing templates :)

Hope that answers all your questions :)

DragonByte Tech
05-15-2010, 10:24 PM
5.2.0had this in it:

5.2.1 was just various bugfixes like the update email said :)

And yes i talked with some people who were a part of your staff at inferno tech, they all know your a piece of shit. Just hope the people who work with you now find out soon what kind of person you are, or everything will be lost again. I as other people bought scripts from inferno tech, all of a sudden we were ripped off from our purchases, now your gonna try this shit again?

It's funny even after everything that happened, scott still defended you and wouldn't say anything bad about you. Fix your personality man, your a ++++ing cocktard in my books.

Scot and I were the only staff at Inferno Tech, so i'm not sure who else you could have spoken with

Going to point out that everything (site, server etc) was in ZT's name. Things going offline was his doing, and had literally nothing to do with me. Despite this i still offer former Itech customers a discount on similar DBTech products which is pretty much my cut.

Not sure how much more I can do than that to be honest =)

If you're going to continue to post, please keep it civil. No one really wants to read your posts when you go off on a troll, and theres really no need for it. If you want to discuss this more in private, feel free to e-mail/PM me =)

I deleted my posts cause i was wrong to post them, just i along with others are pissed off about the whole ordeal. And you and scott were the only staff really, but you had helper's you guy's hired on to the team. Not fair to mention any names, and maybe you turned over a new leaf, atleast i hope so. If so, then i greatly apologize to you, but if your the same type of +++++++ you were then, i hope people avoid your new company like the plague.

I'm relatively certain that we never knew each other on much of a personal basis, and any "helpers" we had on Inferno Technologies were just customers who volunteered (Or friends of Scot's). Not really surprising they'd want to lay the blame on me than their friend to be honest.

Still, people will always look for someone to blame, and i was the easy target because i actually stuck around to try to explain things. -shrugs-

Such is life.

You and scot were even living together for a time, thats when it all went bad. Your just lying to defend the reputation of your new team you got together. I wish you the best of luck with your business though, and a double good luck towards your teammates who have to deal with you.

Not sure what i lied about? Unless I did know you well and forgot?

Me and the team thank you for your well wishes =)

Good luck with your site! (I see it's down just now :()

and a double good luck towards your teammates who have to deal with you.
Working with him really isn't the end of the world, sure he can be a bit of a pain at times but that's because he wants what's best for the company and I'm lazy :p
I'd be more worried about me wearing him down with my complaining than the other way around xD

And either way, even IF brown stuff made contact with the fan, I'd never take down the site (like ITech was in ZT's name, DBTech is in mine) and I'll keep supporting my stuff.
Mainly because I worry too much about what people think of me, so I'd rather not people spoke of me like they speak of ZT.

So yeah, there you have it :)
Not to mention the fact that I've also lived with the guy for 2-3 months while we were setting DBT up, so I think I know him the tiniest bit better than you xD

All i care about is what i do know about him, and he didn't give me any good impression's at all, it's good you get along with him though. My point is, since I know him better I believe you have the wrong impression of him, that's all :)

I didn't test the Flashchat addon, that's why it's not in that screenshot.

Did we install the same mod / version? I used this: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=168819
If not, please link me to the mod you're using and I'll try that :)

If yes, then try the following:
Can you please look in your Plugin Manager and look for any other modifications that use the admin_permissions_form hook location, then disable all those plugins (no need to disable the product, just those plugins).
Then, try with only vBShout and Log In As User's plugins enabled.

Is the issue still present?

If yes, then enable the plugins one at a time and check again until you find where it goes wrong.

Hope that helps :) We'll get to the bottom of this! ;)

The Shoutbox will now post notifications when a new public blog is written, and when a new public blog comment is written.

Oke few things i need to know :)

1• Is it possible to dissable the date in every shout? I only want the time.
2• Turn off one of the "Active Users"
3• A more cleaner look. What i mean is that the members on my forum can turn things off. Like i dont wanna see the buttons for font and color.

Problems that i had:

1• Shoutbox puts its self in idle. I did turn it off in the settings.
2• Cant change font size.

For some reason vBACMPS documentation said "if you created template adv_shoutbox you should put shoutbox in the template name" or something to that effect, which in my experience is incorrect - you'll need to put the full template name in there.

That being said, I don't believe I know of anyone who actually runs vB3.8 with vBA and vBS on it, so it may not work at all...
You could try asking at the vBACMPS forums, if this doesn't work?

1. The input textbox on the left site, is it possible to get it under the shout in complete width en 2 lines high?

2. After the input textbox is replaced, should the shout itself can go 100% width?

Sorry for my bad English typing, it has been a while that i used it.

Great mod, nominated and installed, for what i need for the moment is great.
Just I have a question where you translate this phraze:
"You are currently showing up as idle. Click here to resume activity."

The phrase obviously don't appear in your mod but is pulled form somewhere, maybe database ... have no clue where to find it.

Will have it in mind for another project but this time the pro version.

PS : In 384 PL2 autoinsert in template does not work for above footer, only under navbar. I added manually.

It's currently hardcoded, making it translate-able is something we're looking into for future versions :)

Too lazy to search through all 13 pages but is it possible to move the shoutbox in a different location?

I'd like to place it on a custom page rather than have it below the navbar.

imedic

Of course you can. Find the hook you need to insert from the settings page where you select the position of the shout and put it where you need it.
Obviously disable automatic template embedding.
Thanks dragon, waiting for the update. Congrats on a very good mod.

Just a suggestion (not important). When you scroll and read previous shouts if the refresh occurs your list scroll back to last shout even if no new shouts are. If you read slowly and set up a longer visible list (and need to scroll) this can be annoying.

If this doesn't work, then it's a browser issue cause it's been working fine in Firefox and IE in my tests.

Having a real issue need some help. When I go to log into my admin control panel now I get this and cant get in to work on the issue.

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/content/d/a/b/XXXXXXXXX/html/XXXXXXXXXXX/dbtech/vbshout/includes/class_bootstrap.php on line 38

You might be running PHP4. vBShout is only compatible with PHP5, because PHP4 has been "End-Of-Life" (not supported) for over 2 years now.

If that is the case, please attempt to change PHP version in your hosting's control panel, or contact your host to have them upgrade PHP to PHP5 :)

It's to bad someone couldn't have just started working on inferno sb, it's still the best but it has flaws that need to be fixed and things that could be added.

I was thinking about using this but the layout is so ugly.

DragonByte Tech

I'm sorry you feel that way.

In the Pro version, the shout area can be moved above/below the shout area, just like the old ITech shoutbox.

After a couple days simmering in Beta sauce over a low flame, vBShout v5.3.0 has now been released.
This is purely a performance update, and brings changes in the way BBCode is handled and also how the AOP system functions.

BBCode will now parse when -saving- shouts instead of when -fetching- them, greatly reducing the strain on your server from having to parse 20 (or however many shouts you display) every load.

The AOP system will now be up to 80% faster* in checking whether new shouts have been posted and will also use a greatly diminished amount of resources in this check.

Furthermore, caching on Chat Rooms have been improved, eliminating 1-3 queries (depending on context) from each request.

* Based on a comparison of AOP fetch times on 5.2.3 and 5.3.0 on DBTech's server and my development computer.
Lowest AOP fetch time recorded: 26ms (5.3.0) vs 1.0s (5.2.3)
Highest AOP fetch time recorded: 224ms (5.3.0) vs 1.45s (5.2.3)
Your mileage may vary. This is in no way, shape or form a guarantee that your server load will go down by 80%.

v5.3.1 has been released, a maintenance release that fixes all known problems.
There's no new features in this version, but updating is still recommended as some of the issues found was negating the performance benefits brought on by 5.3.0 in certain scenarios.

Works great except for chat rooms: nobody receives invitations, except me, the admin. I couldn't find the permission for that. Users create rooms, invite others, but only I see the invitations (those to me). The invitations that I send are also not received by anyone.

xtumen
08-17-2010, 07:24 PM
And the only invitation that got through to me was in the loop - I couldn't get rid of it until I cleared the db table and the files.

UPD I hit OK - the room appears shortly, then disapears, and the invitation is back at me - infinitely.

Are you using some form of cache system that may not be detecting vBulletin's build_datastore()?

A security vulnerability that exposes users' private shout messages has been identified and fixed.

To patch this, re-download the zip and re-upload all files. It is not needed to re-import the XML file.

There is a 25% discount available for people who purchased the ITech version, PM Decado on the dragonbyte forums with a screenshot of the transaction. Unfortunately this was coded by a completely different person, so we're unable to simply give it away.

hello,
i'd like to thank you so much for this mod .. as this is exactly what i am searching for .. but iam not very good at these stuff .. i mean the 2nd step at the installation :
"2. CHMOD the /dbtech/vbshout/aop folder to 0777"

iam running an account on servage.net with MYSQL and FTP access .... and all the mods/products i installed so far needed uploading some files, and importing the XML ..

please .. i need your help, can you provide me detailed explanation on how exactly to get this mod working perfectly?

Hey there,
i have another question .. i read that to enable sound i have to download a plug-in.. currently iam using firefox .. and i downloaded quicktime plug-in 7.6.7 for windows ..
but no sound is being played ..

any idea what's going on?

DragonByte Tech
09-02-2010, 01:03 PM
If you are having problems with sound, please follow this check-list:

1) Did you select a sound to be played in the Instance Manager?
AdminCP -> DBTech - vBShout -> Instance Management -> [Edit] -> Shout Sound / Invite Sound / PM Sound

2) Are sounds turned on?
AdminCP -> DBTech - vBShout -> Settings -> Enable Sounds

3) !!!Pro Only!!! Are sounds turned on in the UserCP?
UserCP -> Shoutbox -> Shoutbox Settings -> Shout Sounds / Invite Sounds / PM Sounds

4) Is the QuickTime browser plugin installed?
QuickTime Plugin (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/)- Please note that you need to restart your browser after installing the plugin.

5) Does it work in other browsers?
If you only have one browser on your computer (Internet Explorer) you should try out Firefox (http://www.getfirefox.com).

6) Is the following text present in the source of the page: <embed ?
Right click -> View Source -> Ctrl+F -> <embed
If this is not found, and all the above steps are completed, then you may have an out of date template. Please revert any customisations to dbtech_vbshout_shoutbox

If none of the above steps fix it for you, then it's a browser issue that we are unfortunately unable to assist with.

Hi all is possible to show this shoutbox in all Pages ?

DragonByte Tech
09-28-2010, 07:58 PM
To put vBShout in a custom location, do the following:

Step 1: AdminCP -> DBTech - vBShout-> Instance Management -> [Edit].

Step 2: Change the Auto-Display Shoutbox setting to Disabled.

Step 3: Change the Shoutbox Deployment setting to include the script names of all the pages you wish the Shoutbox to appear on. For instance:
To have it appear on the front page (CMS) as well as the Forum Home, you'd enter index, vbcms for this setting.
To have it appear on every page, you'd remove the contents of this setting.

Step 4: Change the Manually Display Shoutbox setting to include the template names you wish the Shoutbox to appear on. For instance:
To have it appear on the front page (CMS) as well as the Forum Home, you'd enter FORUMHOME,vbcms_page for this setting.
To have it appear on every page, you'd enter navbar for this setting.

Step 5: Enter the Style Manager and add either {vb:raw vbshout} (vB4) or {$vbshout} (vB3) to the templates you named in Step 4 in the desired location.

Follow these steps as described and you will have total control over the position of the Shoutbox.
Please note that some locations may not work as intended on vBulletin 3.8, and also note that it is not designed to go in the Forum Blocks side-bar (vBulletin 4).

Hope that helps :)
