View Full Version : Space between pips all of a sudden?

I went through installing some old hacks that had been disabled for a while and we were going to no longer use and after removing about 5 total I noticed in my postbit I have a space between all the pips for some reason?
Checked postbit_reputation and postbit_legacy and they seem fine, I also had not changed anything in any templates other than what the mods may have done but I can't remember anything that really used postbit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Open your postbit & postbit_legacy templates and save them by copying and pasting each of them into a text file. The revert the postbit templates in the style you want to fix this issue in. See if you still have the problem then. If you do then it maybe some sort of conflict with another mod.

Thank you, I did try that with the same result.
By revert you mean just click on show default then copy/paste that overwriting what I had? That didn't seem to work.
I could revert all templates but I was worried that it would screw up my style.

To revert all you need to do is go to:
Styles & Templates>Style Manager>Edit Templates (in the drop down of the style you want to edit) now click the <<>> button to expand the templates and search for your postbit templates. One is called postbit, the other is postbit_legacy (I'm guessing you realize this but just in case). Double click on the template and then copy and paste the template code into your text file. Save your text file. Then just hit your back button on your browser. You should be looking at the list of template again. Click the postbit template once and then click the "Revert" button in the "Controls" toolbox on the right top side. Then check to see if your pips are aligned properly. You can do this for both templates if you need to. This will not affect your other templates in your style.

Thanks metalguy!
Still seem to be having the issue and I did notice one other odd thing is that the current users online has spaces so its listed.
user1 , user2 , user3 , user4
instead of
user1, user2, user3, user4, etc
Seems every other vB forum I check it should be the latter and I'm pretty sure it was this was before.
One thing I did notice when viewing the source is it seems to call a template a lot when listing users currently online and with the pip issue mentioned earlier.
<div><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: forumhome_loggedinuser -->
<a href="member.php?u=1"><span style="color:Green">User1</span></a>*
<!-- END TEMPLATE: forumhome_loggedinuser --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: forumhome_loggedinuser -->
, <a href="member.php?u=13"><span style="color:Green">User2</span></a>+
<!-- END TEMPLATE: forumhome_loggedinuser --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: forumhome_loggedinuser -->
, <a href="member.php?u=105">User3</a>+
<!-- END TEMPLATE: forumhome_loggedinuser --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: forumhome_loggedinuser -->
, <a href="member.php?u=502">User4</a>
and the pips in postbit_legacy
Rep: <span id="reppower_349515_1">87</span> <div><span id="repdisplay_349515_1"><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: postbit_reputation -->
<img class="inlineimg" src="http://crunktimes.com/ct/images/reputation/reputation_pos.gif" alt="User1 does not have much rep yet" border="0" />
<!-- END TEMPLATE: postbit_reputation --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: postbit_reputation -->
<img class="inlineimg" src="http://crunktimes.com/ct/images/reputation/reputation_pos.gif" alt="User1 does not have much rep yet" border="0" />
<!-- END TEMPLATE: postbit_reputation --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: postbit_reputation -->
<img class="inlineimg" src="http://crunktimes.com/ct/images/reputation/reputation_pos.gif" alt="User1 does not have much rep yet" border="0" />
Was thinking it may be a CSS screw up somewhere but after noticing this the two areas are not even remotely related.
Thanks again for your help :)

Did you make sure that you uninstalled the mods completely? You would need to uninstall them in the admincp under Product Management. And then you would need to access your files via FTP and delete the files that you uploaded with the mod when you installed it. Possibly you have not completely uninstalled the hacks you were messing with before.
EDIT: looked back at the code. Do you have some sort of template mod installed? If so that maybe the cause of your issues. Also you can try disabling your hacks one by one to find out if a hack is causing these issues.

Yes it took me since April but I accidentally ran across another thread today and found that the issue was due to having html comments on in vB options lol
Thanks for the help and maybe someone will find this helpful as it drove me crazy for a while :)
