Canned Replies v4.x - User Saved Text for Replies, Threads, PMs & Infractions

Description:

This mod allows each user to store standard replies which they can quickly access upon creating a reply, thread, pm or infraction.
Canned replies can be shared - For Examples, Administrators could have permission to create/share/use canned replies; and moderators permission to view/use canned replies.

A few suggestions and issues.

Default to ON for admins when installing.

The default canned reply is blank in the dropdown. Should probably list something there like "-- Select --" or something, just so it's not blank.

When inserting a new reply, there's a leading carriage return even though there isn't one in the canned reply.

Categories. I'd like to be able to visually group things a little better as I'll end up having probably about 30 replies or so and I think around 5 different categories at this point.

Add this to the quick reply. The idea behind a canned reply (for me anyway) is that I need to do something quickly. Having to go to the advanced editor to do this somewhat defeats the ease of use.

The above quote would be a big plus. I as well as my staff have been waiting for this to be ported over. Is there any known bugs that this doesn't work when you use it?

Ok, I thought it was just me. =)

When I first installed the update, the dropdown appeared, but selecting anything in it, didn't work.

I did a force refresh on the page and then it started working.

Translation install
To import the translation goes as follows:

Admincp => Languages & Phrases download => Languages / upload => Click on "EITHER upload the XML file from your computer" click Browse and select the translation from => at "Language Override chooses her German => Import => Done

We are using this hack as a staff only feature (for issuing warnings and infraction reasons). I've enabled ONLY the staff usergroups to be able to use this (5,6,7).

However, EVERY group can use this. The usergroup setting is broken on vb 4.0.5.

See attached files for both setting and results for this test account (which is only a registered user account).

I don't want regular members to use this feature to hand out warnings in threads.

Had to uninstall this mod until there's a fix. Great mod, just not much value for my community since it cannot be used as a warning/infraction system.

Will keep an eye out on bug fixes.

I can not confirm the error. Staff can use it, normal users will not see anything like this, in replies or in the control center.
I have tested it in my forum as a regular user. (vb4.0.5 and this cannedreplies.php https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=2071222&postcount=47)

Thou shalt not do without on your other mods but just to test whether the problem occurs if the other mods are disabled.
If so, then switch one after the other and test again when the problem occurs.
The only way to limit the mistakes.

This is an awsome mod and our moderators were over the moon as it is used for staff only.

We are running VB 4.0.4.
We have the same issue that everybody has access to the canned replies.

We have had to disable it until this can be sorted.

Please have a look at this, for our type of forum it is a very needed mod.

I have discovered that only the "Shared" replies can be used by all users.

We have worked around this & enabled the mod again.

I can confirm that by shared templates the selection box for the template even for normal users appears. The template text himself will not displayed and is not insertable, just the selection box with the headlines will appear.

I don't have that issue, but until you can resolve it, here's a work-around: use the following link- (add your own domain name)

http://www.YOUR-DOMAIN-HERE.com/cannedreplies.php?do=add

Alternatively, if you use a sub folder, it may appear like this:

http://www.YOUR-DOMAIN-HERE.com/forums/cannedreplies.php?do=add

If you are unable to access the link at that point, go into your admincp> usergroups> & check to make sure your permissions didn't get changed during your upgrade.

go to your admincp>style manager> the style you use for your site> edit templates> cr_dropdown

and add an if condition around the link of code that's in the box

example:

</vb:if>change the bbuserinfo based on your own usergroup id's you can view your usergroup id's by loading:

When you make a canned reply you have the ability to share or not. To stop sharing with what you already have you'll have to go into each then edit to disable sharing.

That's very helpful. I noticed if you haven't typed anything in on the advanced reply screen you don't even have to wait for it to re-load.

Your forum is running 4.1.4 with the new ckeditor and this mod was written pre-4.1.4 so it's not working properly on that version. The developer has stated he would be updating this mod for 4.1.4 but hasn't posted since then. We are all still waiting on him. So it most likely is giving that error due to the editor not be available it's run on. I'd wait until this mod is updated and hopefully then you can install w/out a problem.

Thanks Taurus, although you didn't really have to do that lol :) It is appreciated though. For everyone else, make sure the template edits were made (vB can be stubborn with product files sometimes) - otherwise the fixes will not work.

1. Uninstall canned replies from plugin manager in admin cp
2. upload these files i have attached
3. install the product again
4. set permissions in admincp based on usergroups
5. Add your canned replies again (http://yourforum.com/forum/cannedreplies.php)

And it should work fine!

Now I too am having the same problems as everyone else, that is getting those annoying <br> tags in the messages that once you select a message you see them. Also the canned messages when trying to edit is blank.

I understand the above the instructions about a fresh install. But what about all the edits I made? Is this going to overwrite those? I want to make sure once I uninstall and do the fresh install that I do not also have to worry about the templates edits previously to try to make this work. Not that I mind the edits, but I am not a coder and while I can follow instructions, that is about all I can do since I don't have the knowledge to understand the coding.

What I am trying to say, is due to the previous edits made to make this work, will a uninstall and fresh install be all that is necessary?

There is a small bug inside this mod:

1) open a new topic, and choose directly a canned reply (without clicking in the editor first) --> the canned reply is not placed

2) the quick reply form has the same error when you open a random topic, scroll down and choose directly a canned reply --> the canned reply is not placed

The problem is that when i choose the canned reply from the drop down menu , it doesn't show in the "quick reply" box , i.e : no text whatsoever is copied in the box.

all steps done as described and i got the following :

I have access from the User settings : check
I can create canned replies : check
Other enabled users can see the drop down menu and the share replies : check

I have the same issue. Updated to vb4.19, can select a canned reply but nothing appears in the full editor. Followed the instructions for the 4.15 canned replies that someone posted to no avail.

Please tell me the specifics of what you used. I had a working version prior to my upgrade from 4.1.7 to 4.1.9. One problem...I had to disable this mod as it conflicts with the extra threadfields mod. Once the canned replies mod is installed, none of the extra threadfields show up when posting. :(

product-cannedreplies_v4.xml Imported Allow Overwrite "YES" (admincp -> Plugin System -> Manage Products -> [Add/Import Product])

Canned Reply Permissions does not appear anywhere in the admincp.
I also get this message trying to access via URL:

I found Canned Replies in the admincp and turned it on for Admin's and was able to create a canned reply.
Still can't find how to use it in the editor.

I found the Canned Replies drop down. It is available above the editor for new threads, however it does not show above the editor for replies.

The canned replies show up and are pasted into the editor however line breaks don't show up.

I tried this version 4.1.2 and the "fix" 4.1.5 in vB 4.2.0 Patch Level 3
Neither worked, nothing showed up in the user cp, admin cp or in the reply text boxes.

Are there any "canned replies" products that will work with vB 4.2.3?

Ok, I got it to show up but get this error message when trying to enter a Canned Reply message to store:

AdminCP> Usergroup> Usergroup Manager> Edit Usergroup Administrators> Set canned reply permissions - save, clear cache, try again. :-)

First off, I want to let the Coder know that I absolutely LOVE this mod, it is, by far, the MOST helpful mod that I have installed on my site and I GREATLY appreciate it! With that said, Here's my dilemma..

I have a number of saved canned replies, many of them contain attachment images. When I use the reply the attachment image displays, right up until the moment that I Publish, which then switches it to a link display with the attachment id # instead of the actual image.

I've double checked Usergroup Permissions to ensure that ALL users can "See attachments" & Download attachments.

AdminCP > Usergroups > Usergroup Manager > [Edit Each Usergroup] > Forum Viewing Permissions > Can See Thumbnails > 'Yes'

I've also gone into view attachments inline:

Admin CP -> Settings -> Options -> Message Attachment Options - > View Attached Images Inline -> Yes

View Attached Images Inline> Yes, display thumbnails (I've also tried, yes, display full size)

If, when creating or editing a canned reply, I use Image tags with the direct url:insert image link here the images will display.

If I try to use attachments, the image becomes a link.

Hrmmm... Actually, I tested this in a forum that does not use Everywhere Sidebar by BOP5 (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=283307&highlight=Everywhere+Sidebar) and it worked perfectly. Then turned Everywhere Sidebar back on for that particular forum and the issue recurred. Any ideas how to fix it (short of disabling Everywhere Sidebar, which I'd prefer not to do!)
