Moderation Auto-PM v4.0.6

What does this hack do?
When a thread is opened/closed, stuck/unstuck, moved, or a post is deleted, a PM will be automatically sent to the poster to inform them of this.

Instructions

Upload all *.php files to your vBulletin includes directory
Import the product XML (set allow overwrite to yes if you are upgrading from a previous version)
Please remember to click Mark as Installed (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/vborg_miscactions.php?do=installhack&threadid=241248) if you use this modification.

Features

The text of the pm is no longer hardcoded but uses phrases
Ability to "respect" a recycle bin forum (lots of bigger boards still seem to use this)
Moderation Auto-PM will not show the user where their thread/post is being moved to/from if they do not have permission to view the forum (example if you move a thread to a staff only forum the original poster would be denied access)
Ability to exclude certain forums (no notification send at all)
Never send a pm to yourself also solved

Hi Greight, the Recycle Bin forum doesn't need to be visible for users. I checked this and this function works good. Remember, PM is not sent to yourself.

Moderation Auto-PM v3.0.1 works good with vBulletin 3.8 but this modification is in the Modification Graveyard. I believe that in this case I can't port my version to vBulletin 3.8. Sorry.

Plus, will you also be adding other Moderations such as Approving and Unapproving of Posts/Attachments etc?

ACP --> Languages & Phrases --> Download / Upload Languages --> Import Language XML File and upload the XML file from your computer. You can also Overwrite Language (example select Polish) :)

I moved my own thread and got no PM's stating such. I set everything up perfectly. I'm the admin, so unless it doesn't PM yourself if you move your own thread, then it might work as that's the only thing I did to test it. I just didn't figure it would be coded that way, I was assuming it sent PM's regardless.

There is a small bug in the actual version for multi language forums.
Example:
Mod has language A in his settings
User has language B in his settings.
If now the mod deletes a thread for example, the user gets the PM in the language of the moderator and cannot read/understand it.
The addon should send the PM in the language the receiver is using.

so i understand this correctly...

let's say vb.org had two languages installed english and german (you use german) and a thread from you get's moderated and the mod is using english you receive the pm in english ? hmmm i wonder if it's possible to send those pm's in the threadowner language i will do some research

Great mod.. works as expected!

I think one major missing feature is the ability to include a personal message.

When we move a thread, for example, we would want to inform the user why it was moved (or at least have the option to!)

Edit: It looks like editing a thread from "Administrative" dropdown doesn't work ... no PM sent (4.0.3)

When moving a thread via the Administrative / Move thread option
we get a redirect error.

The reason appears to be that in postings.php the hook 'threadmanage_move_simple'
is before the $threadman->save();

Somehow $threadinfo is wiped out. I think it maybe the PM datamanger call??

I've put a pit of trace code and that appears to be the issue.

I have no other code active on that hook.

At present when you delete a post it limits the number of characters it displays and displays a huge number of .....s at the end of the PM, even if the post is shorter than the limit.

I've looked into editing the phrase to display the whole post and remove the .....s but no idea where to do this.

it will show a blank page after any of those moderation and sends the pm but will not do the moderation action itself.
For example when you close a thread, you will see a blank page (couldn't show the error even in display error mod) and a pm is sent. but the thread is still open.

I tested latest version (4.0.6) on my vBulletin 4.1.5 Patch Level 1 board and plugin still works very well. I tested close/open/delete action via inline moderation and as a standard action. Maybe you could try reinstalling the plugin?

Especially with thread move.

As kastak says, this mod works fine, but if you have issues it maybe a conflict with another mod.

I'll dig into this further, but what happens is the re-direct after the thread move fails.
Internally it looks like the $threadinfo object is messed up.

I can also confirm that e-mails are not being sent out universally. For example, we have the mod configured (as we always have) to send out e-mails for all types of edits, on threads posts and attachments; after the upgrade to 4.1.11, the mod is sending out (broken, fieldless) e-mails on some events (such as post editing) but not others (such as thread editing) -- despite the fact that the configuration is for notifications on all.

We've now set it up on a bare test install of VB also, and are having the same problems.

An update to readers and potential installers: the problem was at root one with custom phrases, and when this was sorted, the mod returned to working perfectly and beautifully.

I can also now vouch for superb technical support from the author: within 15 minutes of sending a PM I had the matter completely fixed and resolved.

I saw that, but it noted that the language packs were updated in the files so I guess that can't be my problem (PMs not being sent). Thanks.

Edit: Problem solved; unusual problem. I noticed that PMs were not being sent to "approved posts", but they were being sent to "unapproved posts", I checked the settings and they were both set to "yes", but set the "approve posts" to "No", saved, and then set it back to "Yes" and resaved.

I would like to clarify some things. I did not receive any notification from the Staff (vB.org) about potential vulnerability in this modification. The user who wrote post about hacked site, also does not provide any evidence that would confirm that this modification is flawed. The modification has not been suspended by the administration of this board and currently it is free from any vulnerabilities. I am waiting for any action, not baseless accusations.

To be honest its still working fine on php70 and it survived many deprecating landmarks. It only gives that php error warning at this point but still works.
