spiders as users?

I managed to find this mod which I was using ages ago:

The last post on it says it works on 4.0.2, I'm not sure if it's alright to bump up that thread or not. Can anyone confirm if it is indeed working? My site is not live yet so I have no way of checking in a live environment that gets spiders like google.

I don't see the point of the mod. If you're trying that hard to hide stuff from Guests, aren't you then defeating that by showing it to the whole world on Google?

I don't hide anything from Guests, but I do use the Limited Guest Viewing mod that cuts them off after x views.

I found limited guest viewing shortly after making this post. It's a much better concept.

If this was a regular, non-forum website, revealing all the content to everyone with some ads tossed in would be fine. However my forum is ad-free, if people want to mooch content they should at least be a part of the community which is generating said content.
