Skin/style usage question.

I am running on a 3.6.4 forum. I have seen in some threads with people saying a skin that was for instance say released for a 3.8 version board is compatible with a 3.6.

So basically my question is with my 3.6 forum can I use skins that were released for any version as long as it is a 3.* ?

You will need to try, some might work, some might not.
