** Discontinued thread https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=183035 for current thread in 3.8 modification areas.
Since Wowhead (http://www.wowhead.com) (and thottbot) have both released an easy method of adding item tips to your website.
http://www.wowhead.com/?forums&topic=3464&p=35822
I then created this mod to be able to easily add this functionality to any vbulletin installation without uploading external files.
The inspiration for this mod comes from https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=141177 , Gryphon gItemStats mod.
Instead of spamming his thread with xml files of this hack, i decided to post here so that people can take full advantage of it, get notices of updates, etc.
Changelog
0.7.5
Removed old vbulletin option
Updated URL
0.7.4
When Item ID is used without a piped option (i.e. Item Name ) , the default language was never set and rendered all item tags after invalid
0.7.3
Added changes provided by sub_ubi, thanks
To Do
Export functions from the init_startup hook so that it may be used in other scripts like EqDKP by including the global.php vbulletin file

Also sent this question via PM, but reposted here for posterity's sake:
I'm having some difficulty with the latest version of the Wowhead Item Stats script. Somewhere along the line, my users decided to create item links of the following variety:
Bijou's Belongings
These style links are now horribly broken. In fact, when introduced in an otherwise normal item link list such as:
Bijou's Belongings
12345
Bijou's Belongings
Bijou's Belongings
12345
Not only is the Bijou's Belongings entry returning orange brackets, but all valid item links below that entry in the same post are broken as well.
Can you think of any reason why this may be occurring and what a possible fix might be? We currently have around 3,238 posts affected by this issue and, short of doing a search/replace with some combination of PHP and SQL scripting, don't have a solution to get these malformed links working again.

I tried to add custom bbcode so users could highlight the item, and get the tags inserted around it, but that seemed to break it.. what parameters should I use in the custom code?

I'm still having an issue with the invalid item links (e.g. Bijou's Belongings). Although I upgraded to 0.7.4 and regenerated the post cache, those style item links are still returning invalid.
If I edit a post with an invalid item link, change nothing and save, the item link is magically working. It sounds to me like there is something wonky going on with the post cache.
Any ideas?

I had this issue before, i'm pretty sure the answer is in my vb 3.6 thread (follow the link in this post to the previous mod which links back to the previous 3.6 mod)

I did a search for post cache in the 3.6 thread and can't find any relevant info? I'll probably reread the whole thing later on tonight just to double-check the answer isn't buried in there.

Just got done re-reading it now and this is the only relevant message: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=163987&page=7#post1441767
Not exactly a solution.

In the AdminCP, I see:
Local power.js
Enable this if you have the power.js file in your /forumroot/clientscript/ folder
Included in this packages Zip file
But, there is only a Product XML to download. Is this and old and irrelevant setting, or is there something missing that we need?
This may be related, but I do not get a pop-up when mousing over the generated item text.
Thanks in advance! :)
EDIT: Also, the link in the Product list regarding this Mod is still linked to the old thread. Might want to update that so people don't have to click on the link inside that thread to get to this one.

I will look in to this this tonight or this weekend, sorry for the long delays though.

Is it possible to somehow enable the BBCode to be used on other pages, such as vBadvanced modules and custom pages? I imagine it would just be a small edit somewhere, since it is a BBCode. Thanks in advance!! :)

Not to steal his thunder but my script Wowhead Tooltips (http://wowhead-tooltips.com) support vBulletin 4.0+, my support script runs it on version 4.0.3. Apologies if this is inappropriate. Wowhead Tooltips support every tooltip type currently supported by Wowhead itself, and it also generates its own tooltips from the Armory (US or EU) and other sources.

Any possibility of adding proper spell support in the future?

Uninstalled because you are not responding to questions.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2012/01/11.gif Supported
You should really change that.
Installed wowheadtooltips's Modification and it works as it should and I can get support for it, unlike this Mod.

After struggling with this plugin, then the installation of Wowhead tooltips (BCMath was showing up as disabled even though it's enabled on my server), I decided to poke around at other options and found a surprisingly simple solution that requires no plugins or files to upload:
Grab the code to run the Wowhead's own script from here: http://www.wowhead.com/tooltips. Paste it into your header includes file.
Then create a new BBCode item like this: <a href="http://www.wowhead.com/item={option}">{param}</a>
I hope someone else can put this to use and save themselves the time it took me to figure this all out.

I laughed at wowhead tooltip. Sure it can do a lot more than what wowhead.com provides us, but we don't have to pay for wowhead.com
After long delays I've finally added vbb4 to my guild site, so these mods will get updated again.
I would like to make it clear that the ONLY thing this mod is going to provide is the automatic include of the wowhead power.js script that lets you put mouse overs on wowhead URLs and the ability to turn Item Name into a tooltip style link, but most importantly NO additional files to upload and manage.
Since wowhead doesnt offer any direct way to distinguish between heroic and non-heroic items through XML (i.e. wowhead.com/item=Boots&xml ), I will have to re-design the method that i use to look up item names.
The problem with searching is with item names that may not be complete or item names that are partial names to acheivements, spells, gear, etc. Without adding a multitude of files to manage each type of search & sort (wowhead tooltips has over 230 files to upload in 29 folders), I won't be adding a huge, massive amount of features.

Still unable to change the color, white links on a white background are annoying.
It looks like wowhead's javascript is pulling a "basic.css" file which overwrites our local color changes with the !important tag. What can we do?
EDIT: Fixed. I edited the xml file and implemented my own colors :)

Item links are no longer working. I even tested it on your own forums Sweede :( Old links work, but trying to create a new link of a non-cached item does not.
