Our site seems extremely slow. Can you tell me what you think our problems may be please?

Are you on shared hosting? If so, there isn't really a way to tell if it is your site, or someone else's site, that is slowing you down. Is it a particular page that is slow, or just the whole site in general?

Yes, right now we are on a shared hosting plan. We knew that eventually we would need to go dedicated after site traffic and etc would increase but we haven't even launched our site yet and it already seems unbearably slow.....most of the time. We're inclined to believe there is another problem.....configuration or something?

First load was about 8 seconds which seeing the amount of graphical content I'd say that's not bad?!
Forum is fine and once some of the items have been cached the CMS seems usable. Sure it's a little slow but it wouldn't put me off using the site if it was interested in the topic.
Having said that I'm not a fan of sites with graphical backgrounds, far to busy and 1990 for my liking :)

Okay, thanks for the input...much appreciated. Do you have any suggestions on how to speed things up?

The CMS I went to had a bunch of Youtube embeds, which took a while to load due to Youtube. Other than that it seems about normal for what it contains. Just go real easy on the mods if it gets popular.
