View Full Version : Add-On Releases - Picture and Album Gallery with Search
Picture and Album Gallery
There is a vB4 version of this mod HERE (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=237931#post237931)
Features:
Adds a Gallery option to the nav bar which allows browsing and searching of pictures. Also adds an album browser to the Community dropdown menu.
The search functions searches album title, album description, picture caption AND username.
Note: If guest permission AdminCP->Usergroups->UserGroup Manager->Unregistered/Not Logged In->Can View Albums is "yes" then they will be able to browse album and picture thumbnails - they may NOT be able to view the full-size pictures. To hide the gallery menu from guest see Settings below.
The product is fully phrased
Tested with Vbulletin 3.8.4/5 (note: earlier versions have not been tested and are not supported) AND vBadvanced 3.
Settings:

Downloading it and trying it out in the next day or two. Screenshot that was added looks good
only one more feature left: rating. :D

So if I understand correctly, the only difference with the regular and actual vb albums is the fact that you can search, is that it? Or it simply add this function to the actual album? Rating would be nice for sure.

This mod allows you to view ALL of the pictures and albums at the same time - the standard is to view a single users albums only (with no site-wide search).

Works really good. Thanks for sharing.
Will you be doing this for VB4 too?

Good thinking!
If we could rate the pictures from that main page, it would promote folks' use of it. :)

Just one more question: does it take in consideration permissions like if the pictures in some albums are private and not public will they still show or will the hack respect the fact that they are private and only show them to the contacts and moderators?

Yes - only mods and admins can view private or profile thumbnails. This mod DOES allow guests to view thumbnails IF their user group permission canviewalbums is yes (same applies to all other usergroups). Guests will not be able to view the full size images (vB restriction?).

Awesome. Now all we need is picture categories. Would you consider to add this?
Seems to work fine on vb 3.8.3 BTW.

Very Useful Mod. Thank You For Sharing It.
One Important Thing I Just Noticed, (the same one I Posted on the Calendar Search Mod):
Guests Can Search Without Any Limit.
- How Can I Restrict Usergroups From Using the Searching Options (decide which ones Can Search and which ones Can't)?
I Appreciate Your Instructions to Limit Usergroups From Making Album (albumall.php) and Pictures (picall.php) Searches.
My Best Regards.
:)

See first post:
AdminCP->Usergroups->UserGroup Manager : Unregistered/Not Logged In : User Album Permissions Can View Albums
This controls who can view albums for each group. Disabling just the search function won't stop users browsing and viewing pictures through other members profile pages.

Thank you for sharing this.
This was just the missing piece of functionality that prevented me from using the built-in vBulletin-albums.
:-)

Guilty on the template - this mod was ported from the vb4 version which used a different image template.
The page title is missing intentionally (you can easily add it back in if you wish) - the space that would have been used by the title is used for the search functions. In general, I'm not keen on using valuable screen space to state the same thing on three successive lines (the page title is already in the breadcrumb AND on the search result header).

If you dont mind me asking, what is the difference besides search feature then all albums mod?

I used all_albums for several years - an excellent mod! However, it hadn't been updated for vb4 so I wrote a new mod for that and then ported it back to vb3.
This mod has a picture browser in addition to an album browser. Also better screen usage (IMHO:)) with multiple images per page and the search works on usernames and picture captions.

Two great suggestions!
Any chance of some additional features with this mod in the near future?

Not at the moment - this mod is a simple browser/search. Adding categories or ratings would involve customising the vB templates and the database - a different story altogether.
For categories you could use Social Group Albums - create a group for each category and users can then add their pictures.

Great mod, but unfortunatelly it looks really ugly on my website. I don't understand why the thumbnails gets so random positioned... Can you please help me fix this ?

AdminCP->Maintenance->Update Counters->Rebuild Attachment Thumbnails
Thx HCGB but i don't think that's the problem. They are already set to 150 maximum height and width of thumbnails (in Message Attachment Options and also in Album options). So the Album is displaying them ok... but the problem seems to be with the Albums that have long titles or get displayed in portrait mode (instead of landscape).
I am afraid to do the Rebuild Attachment Thumbnails as i have over 20GB of attachments... Plus, i don't think rebuilding them will change anything... as they already have 150 maximum height/width... I don't know how to fix this...

Try (temporarily) increasing the thumbnail size to 200 or so and see what happens to the display. It looks to me like you have several thumbnails that are larger than the size specified and this is breaking the table layout (the "frame" each picture is displayed in should always be the same size).
Or... send me a link to your page or send a copy of the page html (from the browser view page source) and I'll take a look at it.

Thx for your support HCGB !
Here is the album page: http://www.consolegames.ro/forum/albumall.php with thumbnails set to fit at 150px. I've tried different sizes, but i get the same result...
Also, in the homepage, because i use vBadvanced, the All Albums link will go to http://www.consolegames.ro/albumall.php (without /forum/ inside). I've added albumall.php in Global vBadvanced Settings - Navbar Replacements but still doesn't work ok. If i am inside the forum, the link gets the /forum/ inside the link... Strange :)

It must be an issue with your style - you could try adjusting the StyleVars: cell padding and cell spacing. You will find things a lot easier if you run vBA in the same directory as your forum.

THANKS HCGB ! My users love it.
Could you show me how to display $picture[pictureid] in albumall.php file ?
I would like to link thumbnails to album pictureid. Just the same as it works in picall.php

I have a question .. the photos .. are they the same photos uploaded by member?
or using this Mod, the Admin can create an album and upload pictures into it?
Best regards

This mod is a gallery search and view - pictures and albums are created and uploaded by users using the standard vBuleltin album support. Anyone with the correct permissions can create albums or upload pics.

BTW: This addon https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=198477 works fine in Vbulletin 4 and I have installed it on Vbulletin 4.1 as well. Adds a conditional link in postbit below the avatar to a users gallery if they have one

Request:
I want to further restrict the links in the community drop-down box. As of now, only paid members, moderators, and admins have access to this modification. The only issue is that the links still are displayed in the community link dropdown. When a normal user selects the link, they get an access denied. I'd rather them not see the links at all.
