View Full Version : Major Additions - AutoLinker Lite, keyword linker for vBulletin 3.7 and 4.x, and vbcms
kermit2

AutoLinker Lite is a keyword linker for vBulletin 3.7 upwards, 4.x, and vBulletin CMS. It allows the webmaster to configure particular words or phrases as keywords, which will then be automatically linked when they appear in user posts. As well as being hyperlinked, keywords can have pop-over info boxes, as in the image below:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2010/03/4.gif
These info boxes are highly configurable (colours, borders, fade in/fade out effect etc), and can contain html - meaning you can embed images, videos etc. Balloon-style boxes are also supported.
AutoLinker Lite has a flexible permissions system, allowing you to control which forums a given link appears in, and which usergroups it is visible too.
This is a free version of a commercial product, and contains a limit on the number of AutoLinks that you may create. Other than that, it is fully functional.
Please note that AutoLinks in the CMS do not work in vBulletin 4.0.0 and 4.0.1. 4.0.2 and upwards are fine.
A couple more images to hopefully whet your appetite:

dondavis: the lite version is limited to 5 links. Regarding Russian, do you mean a language pack for the admin console, or support for hyperlinking russian words? In answer to the first question, the admin area is only in English I'm afraid. For the second question, there shouldn't be any problems using it on a forum with Russian posts.

We have a very large forum - 253,000 members, 700,000 visitors per month.
We use AutoLinker for all sorts of things including affiliate links. It makes a huge difference because our members ask questions about where to source some item or other and when they submit their post and go and check it - as they all do, - they generally find that they have typed in a keyword and it has been automatically linked with our affilliate code already in place.
Bankfodder

It makes for very tight targeting of affiliate advertising. Forum users are given a link to exactly whatever it was they were looking for.
Very nice.

How does this mod handle keywords that include other keywords? For example if I enter both product and production, then what will happen when someone types the word production ?
And if I only enter 'product' then what will happen when someone posts the word 'production' ?
kermit2
04-01-2010, 08:50 PM
If you had 'product' as a keyword, and someone typed 'production', it wouldn't link it - it understands word boundaries, and doesn't hyperlink keywords that are part of a large word.
Hopefully that answers the question about if you had 'product' and 'production'; If 'production' was typed, only the 'production' keyword would be linked

Sorry, it means that if you use double quotes inside the 'content' box, they need to be escaped with a slash - eg \" rather than just "

Hello,
Looks like a nice add-on!
I installed it and am getting an error on the top of the admin settings page
Warning: file_get_contents() [function.file-get-contents]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in [path]/a_control_panel/autolinker_admin.php on line 1039
Warning: file_get_contents(http://www.autolinker.com/latest_lite.txt) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in [path]/a_control_panel/autolinker_admin.php on line 1039
Any idea what is causing this. It's only on the admin settings page.
I changed the cpanel to a_control_panel, not for sure if this caused the error.
Also, when I set "number of autolinks to show in any post" to 1, it does only show one autolink, but it still highlights all the other keywords... but does not link them. Is there a way not do do both once it's pass the specified amount of autolinks per post (not to link AND not to highlight).
It would be nice to limit it per "thread"

It's a very nice mod. But the free version isn't useable because of the limitation of 5 links. This is too less.
And in my opinion 25 - 35 GBP for only one year (!) is too much money for the pro version.
Maybe you will think about your licensing model?

Hmm no, it's definitely autolinker_admin.php that was the problem; that was the only file that had changed from 1.0 -> 1.0.1

Warning: file_get_contents(http://www.autolinker.com/latest_lite.txt) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in [path]/a_control_panel/autolinker_admin.php on line 1039

I changed the cpanel to a_control_panel, not for sure if this caused the error.
It's a security setting in PHP - stops file_get_contents from opening URLs. Eventually we'll probably use cURL as an alternative when PHP is configured like this, but for the meantime I've just suppressed this warning.
If you want to grab v1.0.2 from the first post, it will address this (you'll only need to replace admincp/autolinker.php), but it's only a warning, and not for a particularly important feature (it just checks the latest version of AutoLinker available, and tells you if there's a newer version out)
Also, when I set "number of autolinks to show in any post" to 1, it does only show one autolink, but it still highlights all the other keywords... but does not link them. Is there a way not do do both once it's pass the specified amount of autolinks per post (not to link AND not to highlight).

I think you've misunderstood the license. 25 - 35 GBP buys you the full version, with 1 year of updates and support. At the end of that year, AutoLinker will still work, and you can continue using it for as long as you like. You simply won't be entitled to free support or updates. So after the initial purchase, you could use it for years without having to pay anything again.
Mike_K
04-05-2010, 04:42 PM
I understand this. But I must calculate that I have to buy every year a new license, because we don't know if the mod is working with VB 4.08, 4.2 ....whatever comes after one year.
I don't say that mod is not worth it. The mod is really professionell made.
But for me it is too much. I do need only 30 - 40 acronyms / autolinks.
So I use furthermore the more simple made Acronym Mod (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=113846) which works fine also with VB 4.02

mandingo: the good news is that it's just a warning, although you shouldn't be seeing it in the first place, as that file has error warning suppressed.
It looks as if either you hadn't assigned a template to your link, or the link had no keywords.
Anyway, I've added some error checking to that file, which will stop that warning from happening. So the latest version (1.0.3 - link in the first post) will address this. You'd just need to upload the revised autolinker.php

Uploading autolinker_admin.php to the wrong location wouldn't stop AutoLinker from show in the ACP menu (although it would stop those links from working).
The menu is actually controlled by includes/xml/cpnav_autolinker.xml , so you might want to double-check that this file has been uploaded. Maybe do a refresh of the ACP menu frame too (or just log out and then back in)
RoughOcean

I'm stumped.
includes/xml/cpnav_autolinker.xml is where is should be, I see autolinker tables in the db, and there is AUTOLINKER_CP in the phrases.
I have uninstalled, deleted the files and re-installed a few times.
There just is no Autolinker menu in the AdminCP.
Is there anything else I can check?

Lets say we opted for the free/paid version.
Can the content of the popup be external html ?
Reason I ask.
We have profile fields filled out by members. I would like the autolinker on hover over the keywrd ( which is for example fieldx ) to reflect dynamic content from external page, based on the word field x represents.
So if field x is lets say RABBIT
then on hover over the word rabbit ( produced in postbit by displaying FIELD x ) then the content within the autolinker could reflect a variable within a url.. such as:
www.anywebpage.com/keywords/rabbit.html
Is this dooable ? If so show me the license !

Hi All
I am so glad I found this mod. I was using GAL before. GAL has no support for 4.0.x and that was a bummer.
I just installed the commercial pro version of AutoLinker a few days ago on my forum (http://sadoun.net).
It was a simple procedure, every admin should have no problem installing the software on VB4.0.x
I ran into a few issues that were resolved for me quickly by the staff at http://www.autolinker.com.
The issues will be listed here including the solutions.
Problem: After I installed Aurolinker on my forum, I started getting the following message:
Fatal error: Corrupted encoded data detected in /home/XXXXX/public_html/forums/admincp/autolinker_admin.php on line 0
Solution: This was because autolinker_admin.php and AutoLinker.php were
FTP uploaded in ASCII mode - I re-uploaded those two files and made sure they are uploaded in
binary mode.
Problem: I have added new Links and keywords. The problem is that these keywords are
not getting AUTOLINKED in the posts.
Solution: It was a simple problem - the permissions template was restricting who
could see the link. I've made the template viewable to all usersgroups in all forums, and now the links are showing.
Problem: When I click on highlighted keyword in a post, it opens a new blank window not a the desired link page.
Solution: This was easily fixed too... If you look at the display template, there is a field 'href action'. Just change this to 'link' and it will work (the setting means that when someone clicks on the keyword, it should take them to a link) destination.
Once I added the new links and keywords, I discovered another issue:
Problem: Posts will not show in threads. Basically empty thread.
Solution: Discovered some of my keywords had a / in them, and this was being treated as an escape character by AutoLinker. They were removed and Pete at Autolinker also did some changes to autolinker.php, so all are working now.
Hopefully this will help others who may run into the same issues.
Thanks to the staff who helped me sort these issues and get my mod up and running.
Money well spent on this much needed mod. :D
Satisfied User - 5 Stars for the staff so far

I had the problem above where Autolinker Lite didn't appear in the AdminCP after installation.
I moved to a new host and server a week ago, so I thought I'd try again.
Good news that Autolinker Lite does now appear in the AdminCP!
But, I have another problem...
If I try to Add Display Template, the Template Name and Properties are not saved. I give it a name and set the properties. After I hit save, it says 'Template added successfully.' Then when I go to Display Templates, there is no Template Name. It is blank (see the screenshot).
Also the preview and delete links on that page don't work.
If I look in the autolinker_templates table, I can see that it created a row but didn't add any data. (see the screenshot)
Adding Links has the same problem. It add rows, but no data.
I tested some other plugins and they are able to create rows and add data to their tables.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this problem?
kermit2
04-29-2010, 06:53 PM
That's odd. It's v1.0.3 that you're using, yes? Downloaded from here? When you mouse over the delete link, your browser status bar should show the url as something like http://yoursite.com/forum/admincp/autolinker_admin.php?do=delete&id=123 . Is the id= parameter set? Does the id correspond to the 'id' column in the database?
RoughOcean

Yes v1.0.3 as downloaded and installed today. Although in Installed Products, it says version 0.01 for Autolinker.
The delete link url does look like that and the id parameters match.

The files dont exist in your download here.
Sorry yes, think my brain was on strike. I've just updated the original post with an updated version (1.0.4) which should correct this. In your case you just need to replace autolinker.js with the new version (no need to reinstall everything)

I had a uni_code problem in my MySQL while import from old GAL tables.
Yours.
In v1.0.4, I've changed the charset on the tables to utf8 (rather than latin1) ... hopefully this will solve the problem.
If you don't want to re-install, you could manually change the charset (through the mysql command line client, or phpmyadmin or similar):
alter table xxx default charset utf8
, where xxx is the table name (which in turn will depend on any table name prefix you're using).
There are 9 tables to modify, each beginning {PREFIX}_autolinker_
Hope that helps

Don't suppose you've modified the file have you? Sounds like a missing } somewhere, but it's certainly not giving an error here. Maybe it's been mangled during upload?

I'm very interested in this mod, but I've got a question.
I want the links to take a specific table from various mediawiki pages, is there any way I could get it to do that automatically, or would I have to create everything manually (meaning updating whenever wiki pages update, etc)?
kermit2
05-17-2010, 09:09 AM
There's not a way to do that automatically at the moment I'm afraid, although we could custom code it for you probably
iamacyborg

That would be good. Is there any chance you could email me at jacques [at] iamacyborg.com with details about pricing if you were to custom code it?
I'll definitely be purchasing the product anyway, it's too useful to pass up on.

I really want to install this and if all is good go for the pro version but I can't get past the darn install.
I uploaded everything to the appropriate folders (used the v 1.0.4 file) and when I go to upload the XML file, I get this error in the admincp:
Database error in vBulletin 4.0.3:

Referrer : http://www.m3orpg.com/admincp/plugin.php?do=productadd
I gave it a shot by using the 1.0.3 file and was able to get around that error. However, once I go to create a new display template or even a new link, I get this error:
Warning: mysql_real_escape_string() [function.mysql-real-escape-string]: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061) in [path]\admincp\autolinker_admin.php on line 517

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you ...
Firstly, the SQL error during installation was a stupid mistake that I've now corrected in 1.0.4
The second error that you're getting is more of a problem. Which versions of PHP and vBulletin are you using please? What platform are you running on, Linux?

there's a problem ,, if keyword has a link this MOD change it
for example if there is a word like download Linux program and it has a link this mod will change the link so it must check if the work has link or not before autolink it.
and another thing, for example if i choose games as a keyword and if this word repeated for 3 times on the post it must autolink the first one only, not all the three.
sorry for my English.

Haywire: I've been trying to replicate this problem, but haven't yet been able to. We don't tend to use Windows and I'm not yet sure if it's a Windows-specific issue.

Following on from Mahfouz's other point (that existing links sometimes get converted to AutoLinks), I've released v1.0.5 now, which fixes this issue. For anyone wanting to upgrade from 1.0.4, it's just a case of uploading the new autolinker/autolinker.php file.

I like it, but I've the same problem as mahfouz. The number of times reduce links per post.
I miss the following function:
In case the plugin finds more of once the same word in a post, it will only change the first one.
This is to avoid inconveniences to the users.

I've been using this mod for almost a year now. I guess I would consider my site pretty heavily modified. It works fantastically. I have well somewhere in the vicinity of 500-1000 definitions. And by now, I've got well over 1,000 links auto created throughout my site.
Excellent modification, and well worth the extremely modest price, for the future growth of your site.

Sorry, only just noticed this. It's certainly working on all the 3.8 series. I've not tested it in anything higher than 4.0.2 yet, but I can't see any reason for it not to work. Obviously if you bought the paid version and it didn't work you'd get a refund; but the paid version is more of the same - so if the Lite version works in > 4.0.2 so should the full version

I figured it out kermit2 but now I'm trying it again with a two word link but only the first word of each two word link is the link, is this the way it's supposed to work?
ex: "linked word" shows only "linked" as the link.
kermit2
08-03-2010, 04:52 PM
No, definitely not - it should be linking both words.
The only reason it should be happening this way is if you have "linked" and "linked word" as two different AutoLinks. In that situation the first might take priority

I tried the demo install on our vB 4.0.5 instance.
It worked fine without errors; however there was one thing that put me off using it right now.
I ticked the 'case sensitive' box and expected matches to 'poker' to be replaced with a linked 'poker' but instead it replaced all instances of 'poker', 'Poker', 'poKer' etc.
Probably a minor niggle to most, but I think it is quite important to be able to provide a like-for-like match so the keyword in the post doesnt look out of place!
Uninstalled for the time being.

This is a great plugin, I used it for a while on the lite version. As I was getting ready to purchase I realized this functionality is included in vbseo for which I own a license. So if you have vbseo, this functionality is included there.
By this I do not mean the plugin is not great, just thought that I would share my findings for other users who like me may be new to vbseo and perhaps not realize that this functionality is built into it.

Stefanus: hmm. I've just tried it out in IE 8 (the machine was a P3 with 256MB RAM), and didn't experience this, but I'm not sure how IE decides that a script is running too slowly. When do you get the error? When the page is loaded, when you mouse-over an AutoLink? If it's the latter, it could be the fade in/out effects or opacity - you could try turning those off. Possibly also if you have a large number of AutoLinks on the page

I think that the answer to all of these is that you haven't configured your AutoLinks correctly in your admincp.
All of the features which you refer to are fully configurable - and much more besides.
I notice that you have now posted on the www.autolinker.com forum about this. If you have a look on that website and others which are linked from www.autolinker.com you will get some good ideas as to what can be done.
I'm sure that you will come up with your own interesting AutoLink styles once you get used to it.
One problem might be that there are so many ways of displaying your links and popups that it is difficult to know where to start.
However, once you have done a few, you'll get the hang of it and realise what a flexible system it is.

Yes but the issue is being addressed
Yes, I agree, although the nature of the queries is also important when assessing the impact on the MySQL server. The majority of these queries are all simple SELECTs against indexed columns, and because the table being queries is rarely changed, most of these queries should be served from the query cache.
That said, cutting down on the number of queries has been one of our aims in the latest version, which I'm planning to release later today

I bought this and really like what they are doing here but their support is terrible. There are a few issues that I am trying to resolve on my own because they suck at responding or answering people on their own forum! Days go by and nothing.
I contacted them and mentioned that it wasn't linking consistently and if they couldn't help or answer my question I might as well get a refund. Ironically I got a refund!
I told them I would rather not accept the refund and that I would like to see us figure this out! The best they could say is that it works on some big board and bye bye .I haven't heard from them since. Jan 2011
I am still trying to trouble shoot this and really want this to work. What's up!
Needless to say, I've put a good amount of time into linking data and am not ready to drop it. Its very cool but it does have problems. The latest issue after one month ( next months stats graph is now broken ) and some code under forum attachments is now appearing.
Below each image it puts this example:
GR-MixMaster20withbanner.jpg Views: 49 Size: 23.0 KB ID: 582" class="size_thumbnail" />
If I turn off autolinker it resolves this issue.
I wish their support was interested in making this software better. They are very disconnected from improvement from what I've experienced.

I bought the commercial version and have had great support from him ...
Yes, I agree that at times the response has been a little slow, but essentially it's a one man company so I expect gaps depending on other priorities and real life things that happen. I also take into consideration that it's not a hugely expensive product that I would expect to have a 7x24 help desk available, but for me, it's more akin to shareware where support is proportionate to cost. Nobody's going to make a living selling mods to support vBulletin. :D
He's been really excellent in gradually working through our individual issues and solving them, some of which are due to our own site being highly customized with additional other mods. This latest release is a leap forward and is now operating really stable on our site. It's been an excellent addition to our site and our members love it.
Remember, over used it's like anything else taken to excess and can be annoying and cause problems. Used effectively for the right purposes, it can really add value and differentiate any site from regular vBulletin installations.
I'd recommend folks try the limited (number of links capped) free version here and then ask your pre-sales questions before you buy, to make sure it's going to do what you want it to do.

Doug

I can second this! We had some database trouble and the problem was solved in a few hours from and with the programmer of this fantastic stuff.
Please remember that this add is very heavy for all servers to handle but that is for a linking tool like this one just normal, even if you have more than 5 or 7 links with a lot of keywords configured.
I bought the commercial version and have had great support from him ...

I bought this and really like what they are doing here but their support is terrible. There are a few issues that I am trying to resolve on my own because they suck at responding or answering people on their own forum! Days go by and nothing.

We issued you a refund because you asked for one; and since you are no longer a customer, you're not actually entitled to be using the software - so we'd appreciate it if you uninstalled it. That's also the reason why your posts have gone unanswered (if you browse the forum you'll notice that yours are the only unanswered posts).

I asked for a refund because you were avoiding helping and dealing with code issues. Your software has been removed because it is full of bugs!!!
I'm making it public that your business practice and software is far from stable. You didn't help resolve my issues because you can't and to shut me up, you gave me a refund and bailed.
Please note... I have no intention to be hurtful towards you, however, I think its my responsibility to question you and to warn others on what I've experienced with your software. You ran instead of helping. You are clearly not 100% upfront here.
You are still taking money from people like this software is stable, when it definitely is not!
For others looking into an autolinking add-on, be very warned that this software caused a permission bridge to the admin section of vbulletin 4. It appears to give registered members admin permissions for some unknown. This is a very serious bug on top of the additional issues.
They/he is winging it here. They have a really cool thing started, but because (it is a one man show) I'm assuming this is why he is not able to keep up with vbulletin upgrades or deal with code issues in a timely manner.
Investing in this will only cause you grief.
You have been warned.
That being said...
I wish you the very best, truly, however, wouldn't it serve you better if you actually made an effort to improve your Mod rather than acting that way you are? Wouldn't it prove to the VB community that you are truly interested in improving this instead of telling me to stop using your product lol. Your response to me here only proves you are not at all interested in finding out why I am having trouble and how to improve your mod so that everyone will have a safer and better autolinking mod? You are defensive.
I asked for help many times and you avoided me.
What do you have to say about this now? You don't answer questions to your software unless you buy it. But you don't support it if there are problems.
You are full of it.

Well we've been using this mod for over two years now in vB3 as well and we have seen no evidence of this security problem which you have identified. No one else seems to either.
Are you able to give better information as to how to replicate the problem or how one can recognise the issue?
Thanks

This is completely untrue, but if you're going to make serious allegations please provide some evidence.
This wouldn't be the first time you've claimed AutoLinker was at fault, only to suddenly change your mind and decide something else was the problem. If you recall, within a few hours of you first installing AutoLinker, you were on our forums kicking up a fuss that it didn't work. You later decided that another mod was actually the problem.
Your hot-headed attitude is the reason we were so happy to give you a refund. When something didn't work as expected you would become aggressive and confrontational, and we wasted a lot of time trying to deal with non-existent bugs.
The quote above illustrates this point. I'm 100% confident that there is no such bug allowing standard users to gain admin permissions, and you seem a bit vague on the details. Is this because you've jumped to conclusions again? Again, please provide something to support your claim, or retract it.
By the way, how are you still managing to find 'bugs' in software that you've uninstalled? I can tell that it's still installed on your forum, despite us asking you to uninstall it over 2 weeks ago (because we had issued you with a refund)

come on kids, serious... look at you now. One shill added to the equation. I rest my case
Your software has problems, PLAIN AND SIMPLE! It was installed on a very well tuned server with vb4 and no template mods. I do have vbseo installed but I disabled it to see if it was conflicting and it wasn't.
To help you, The more links I added to it, this more problems occurred to where it finally caused posts to become blank.
It ABSOLUTELY caused security issues as well and you think I'm making this up.... Good luck, you'll need it.

What a couple of idiots.
I'm surprised a moderator hasn't intervened by now ....
Shill?
The Internet is full of folks like you, who lack the courage to do anything except publish unsubstantiated claims and get off on belittling others to make themselves feel better.
I'm just an old veteran well into my 60's, so I don't need to get into faked postings to try and demonstrate my virility on-line. If you'd care to have to leave me a phone number via PM and not hide behind insults using an anonymous Internet pseudonym in public postings, I'd be happy to call you at my expense to take this discussion off line where it belongs.
The commercial software works fine for us and the author has diligently addressed any and all problems we reported.

You know guys, I'm not your enemy here. I don't know why you are acting like this and have been from the very beginning. Its really bizare and very destructive for you.
As far as backing up my claim. Like I said in the beginning, that something isn't right and could you help. You simply said to me, yes, it isn't working correctly and thats it lol?
I offered the opportunity to have access to my site, to see if you could find something. I asked you if you had tested it with vbseo and that possibly there was a conflict there. And then nothing for days...
I mentioned that if you are not able to help, then I would like a refund, BUT... I would rather find out if we could get it working. That I had invested a lot of time and would like this to work. ''The next day I received a refund. hmmm?
This is really childish going back and forth like this. Support should be support, not defensive like this. It is to your advantage to find out why things don't work so you can help ongoing people using your software, don't you think so?
As far as me using your software STILL! if you look at our site: http:recording.org you will see that we are using vaultwiki 's autolinks that works very well, and I might add, you should take a look at for both how it works and how professional their support is.
If people have issues there, they are kind and respond respectfully.
Good luck, I really wish you well. You have a good thing going here.

I just wanted to confirm that the developer is very helpful. I've contacted him with a number of small problems (mostly due to my own non-standard VB and server settings) and he's responded quickly with solutions.
Before purchasing, I read this entire thread from start to finish, and occasionally the developer's response was delayed a little (eg. a week) but he has offered assistance with almost every problem, responding to bug reports and acting on user suggestions. I believe if you have enough customers then eventually one is going to be both dissatisfied and outspoken. I can't say whether the claims of the customer above are valid or not, but I believe if you read the entire thread you get a much better understanding that the developer is in fact very helpful, as has been my personal experience.
I am not a shill, I chose to write this in order to balance the recent negativity a little since I believe it has been undeserved. This product has features that I couldn't find in any other mod (at least in any other working supported 4.x mod) so I'm glad it worked for my needs - thanks developer!

Thanks. First thing I notice is that you haven't got a <script> tag to load autolinker.js. You want something like this just after the <body> tag:
script src="/autolinker/autolinker.js"></script>
(there's more info in the README file that comes with Autolinker)
Even then, it looks like there's another problem, as it isn't even attempting to hyperlink the exegesis keyword. Have you checked that the permissions template being used allows this keyword to show in this forum (and to your usergroup) ?
Chadi
08-20-2012, 02:36 PM
What permissions template? I do not see anything about "permissions template"
kermit2
08-22-2012, 08:00 AM

kermit2
08-24-2012, 11:32 AM
If I hover over exegesis, the box pops up (not over the icon though) - are you not seeing that? Any javascript errors in your browser? You might also want to try viewing the thread while not logged in, just in case that is somehow the problem
Chadi
08-24-2012, 11:46 AM
Your right, it only works when not logged in. What could be the cause?
kermit2
08-25-2012, 09:58 AM
I've registered as a user so that I can see what's going on, and autolinker.js isn't being loaded. So it looks as if the way you've added the <script> tag to your templates is causing it only to be included for guest users. Did you look at the README file included with autolinker? It includes an example of which template to edit

This is a free version of a commercial product, and contains a limit on the number of AutoLinks that you may create. Other than that, it is fully functional.Does the commercial version have the link to your website in the popup box? And the alternative text on the images that says "autolinker.com autolinking image", is that removed or changed?
kermit2
09-03-2012, 10:35 AM
No, the commercial version doesn't have the backlink to us, or the alt image text.
Autolinker 2.0 actually became 1.3, and was released at the beginning of 2011 - I'll update the website to correct that

Yes, the mod is still alive. Not sure about a new release at the moment - it really depends if we can think of any significant enhancements. It's certainly still being supported though, and we'll be continuing to ensure that it works with the latest versions of vbulletin

We haven't tested in on VB5 yet. Did I read somewhere that VB said existing mods (for 4.x) wouldn't work with VB5 ? So the answer is probably not.
We'll certainly be releasing a version for VB5 though - might take a week or two, depending what changes are needed

Yes, you could hyperlink a word without it also displaying a popup box. But there are probably simpler ways - the replacement variable manager in the admincp would probably do what you're wanting.

Do you have access to your webserver's error log? If the two mods work on their own, but not when both enabled, my guess would be that PHP is running out of memory. You might see something in your error log along the lines of "Memory exhausted. Tried to allocated xxxx bytes"

I purchased the full version tonight to set up on my site and import my old GAL links. Upon install when I go to create a new default template or a permission group while it says that it saves successfully, the listings that show up are incomplete as if something isn't getting stored in the database. Furthermore, you cannot choose the one you set up from the drop down list when you go to add a link or to try and do an import. Category creation worked.
I tried to email support@autolinker.com as directed on your site and in the install directions. That email address is defunct.
I tried to log into the forums on autolinker.com but the administrator has disabled new registrations.
So it seems the only place I can report the problem is here. If I don't get a response here I'll seek to have PayPal reverse the charges and this mod changed to unsupported status as it seems to be becoming that...
