Notification to users when their name appears in posts

hey guys.. a bunch of people on my forum thought it would be cool to have a modification that would notify users if their username appears in threads so they are not blindsided

i think a mod like this could potentially put a lot of overhead on the forum due to the searches though

is this a feasible idea?

has anyone seen something like this?

The closest thing to this I can think of is the who quoted me mod.
