What people are saying?

Kevin Michaluk, Co-founder Crackberry.com: "Insights does an outstanding job giving us an instant overview of what's happening in real time on the CrackBerry.com forums. There's always a ton of activity and sometimes it's hard to keep up. Gravity Insights not only shows us which threads are the most active, but also gives us an easy way to identify new members who are contributing great content."

Ed Rieker, President of PbNation: "There are a lot of generic analytics services out there. Gravity Insights is NOT one of them. Insights does an amazing job of distilling all the activity in our community into useful information. Monitoring the forum in real-time has also never been easier. Because of Gravity Insights, I now know exactly what's happening on our site. The Gravity team is outstanding, a pleasure to work with and very responsive to our needs. I highly recommend them."

Patrick Clinger, President and CEO, ProBoards, Inc.:"With Gravity Insights I can see what's happening across the millions of ProBoards forums. Gravity Insights is the first analytics service that I've found that includes relevant forum statistics and can scale to meet our heavy traffic volume. As a big analytics user, I continue to be surprised by all the new things I'm discovering with Gravity Insights."

How does Gravity Insights work?
It?s pretty simple. Gravity Insights is a standard vBulletin plugin. Once installed, Gravity Insights puts a lightweight beacon (similar to Google Analytics) on every vBulletin generated webpage. In addition, Gravity Insights has custom hooks that initiate asynchronous server-to-server calls between your vBulletin server and the Gravity Insights servers. These hooks allow Gravity Insights to track all the things that standard analytics software can?t track (like new threads, new replies, new member registrations, etc.).

Requirements to use Gravity Insights
Gravity Insights has been tested with very large and very small forums. You?ll need vBulletin version 3.6 or later to use Gravity Insights. Gravity Insights also supports phpBB, Vanilla Forums, and ProBoards.

Legal stuff?

Looks very interesting. Will dive into this and compare it against what we already use internally.

It might be a good side tool together with quantcast and google analytics

We've reserved the right to charge in our terms. We don't plan to charge for basic analytics service, but may create a premium pay version at some point.

Looks good! Installed. Thank you!

Question: Is it possible to change the timezone of the graph?

edit: Can anybody tell me the difference between "Replies" and "Conversations"?
edit2: Difference between "Conversation Views" and "Pageviews"?

edit3: This plugin ends up in an error-message on forumhome by the browser saying: "Error: 'VBAnalyticsCookie' is undefined! -> so I deactivated it for the moment

How about real time referral tracking. Kindof like how extremetracking does it.

Last referrals & last search engine referrals.... except show us more than 20 of each at a time

Hi.
Great product. Thanks for releasing it!

For all links pointing to specific threads (i.e. in the Live Stream Thread, Content page, etc) it is not putting in the /forums/ directory after my domain name.

For example http://www.mydomain.com/showthread.php?t=103590 SHOULD BE http://www.mydomain.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103590

The insights directory is located at http://www.mydomain.com/forums/insights

Can you help me understand what I need to do to fix this?

Looks great! I've installed it on two sites.

As I have just installed it, will it be able to get all the the data in the forum and create stats from them?

What are 'Normal Users' and how do you grant them permission to see the stats? I created a Normal user and it says: "We're sorry but it appears you don't have access to view this page." Any way I can grant a user to a specific site only?

Also, please add support for date ranges and not just 'Today'. Looks like the 'Group By: Yesterday | 2 Days Ago | April 2010 | March 2010 | February 2010 | Year' is good enough.

Thanks for creating this!

Looks like 1.5.1 files were updated and yet the version is still 1.5.1

Anyway, product-gravityinsights.xml has an extra single quote at the end of line 27.

Hi,
here is my Feedback.
I like this mod! I don't see exactly yet, what efforts it provides me, but it's very interessting to browse through the analytics data.
And teh new version has lot more than the previous!
Good work!

Has anone some hints who do you use the stats to push your board?
What are your favourite or most helpful stats?

I tried this for a few days. It didnt work very well. first off the 3.8.x version of the plugin is corrupted and you cant unzip the file so i tried the 4.x version. The real time stats didnt work right, it didnt track the new user signups and a bunch of other things didnt work quite right. Its a neat idea, just needs a lot of work.

I tried this for a few days. It didnt work very well. first off the 3.8.x version of the plugin is corrupted and you cant unzip the file so i tried the 4.x version. What OS are you running? I just downloaded and unzipped the mod on my OS X and Windows 7. The zip doesn't appear to be corrupt. BTW, it easiest just to get the plugin from insights.gravity.com since it saves you the hassle of putting the GUID into the plug-in yourself.

Regarding inaccuracies, The 3.8 version and 4.0 version of the plug-in are different, which was probably the cause of some (if not all of the inaccuracies).

Anyways, we'd love to hear your thoughts on how we can make it better! Thanks for the heads up.

Downloaded from the insights website, installed as directed... got the following error on top of all forum pages:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/{mysite}/public_html/forums/global.php(834) : eval()'d code on line 116

Had to disable for now... any ideas?

vB 3.8.6 PL1.

Line 116 of my global.php file is:

Will this display a graph in the users page? For example this page from city-data.
