3.8 Chabox install gone wrong to 4.x upgrade gone really wrong

Chain of events:

Tried updating our sites chatbox and somewhere in the upload process I screwed the pooch bad.

Then decided to upgrade to vb4 to just get a clean feel. Well if you take a peek at http://www.mnmazda.com/forum/ you'll notice that failed just as well.

I've reloaded files, looked over the error paths given, and the end result is this is now over my head.

Any thoughts? No, I don't do a regular back-up of the site so with that, I go to slam head in door.

Anyone up for the task of fixing us up and helping add a few items? $ is available.

Check your config .php file and add after <?

define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

Reupload the config.php file

What we did !!

When upgrading ( i renamed the xml folder xml2 )
Uploaded the new xml folder when we upgraded then systematically went thru and deleted crons/xmls/ etc and gradually got everything hunky dory.

Chatbox evo is the BIGGEST pain in the arse to remove ! Took us ages !

It looks like the mgc shoutbox that doesn't work I think yet for 4.0. See if you can disable it in the admincp.

I can't get to the admincp anymore, the only thing I can do is go through the .upgrade path and then I hit another roadblock caused by the chatbox.

So i tried this, and before this change I was able to start up the upgrade process and work through a few lines till the chatbox caused chaos again. With the change I can't even do that.

Look at your original files for mcb Chatbox evo ( what you had to upload )

Then go in via FTP, and remove / delete the chatbox evo files ( all of them )

They are here there and everywhere.

Then do the upgrade again !

If you get it all going, then go into admincp

Search phrases and type mgc !

Its scarey, over 1000 phrases still reside in the phrase manager, cos they use french language. This can be removed via phpmpadmin

Make sure your config.php ( still has all products disabled as per my post up there )
