View Full Version : SPAM - How do I stop it.

Im getting about 2 new spam users a day. Is there I didnt have email confirm your account on but am turning it on this morning.

Is this going to stop them. What other measures can I do to stop this?

I wouldn't repeat the question on here lol I'll get banned.

We actually have 2 or 3 and they're all rather rude. Tried using a number one but they're easy to get past, the way we have it now is not something bots can get past, we have no bot signups these days.

I think that is odd enough that a bot doesn't understand. My favourite one is the RAPE one though lol

hi there,, i have the same problem and want to resolve it quickly.,. (4-5 bots every day!)
is their a modification for vb4 that allows us to set questions during registration.

Q&A is built into vb4. AdminCP>Settings>Human Verification Manager. You only really need one question. I agree you don't want to ask a question Google could answer (like "What is 2+2?").

i have tried QandA in my previous vb3.8 installation and it stopped 99% of spam from registration.. but i believe i was using a mod at that time.. i hope this should work too.. i am going to try this VB built in option.. lets see

I've never had 1 spam bot whatsoever. Works fabulous.

I haven't tried the basic Q&A, but with reCAPTCHA I've been getting 3-5 bogus accounts per week...

I use "What is 11 multiplied by 3?" and if you can't answer that, you shouldn't run a forum.

I've never had 1 spam bot whatsoever. Works fabulous.That's interesting, because I've always recommended not to ask a question Google can answer. And yes, typing "What is 11 multiplied by 3?" into Google gives a good answer.
