Image resizer using nCode script

You have the option to:
Disable the hack.

Default Maximum width.
Enable and disable cms resize option.
Enable and disable postbit resize option.
Enable and disable signature resize option.
Enable and disable blogs resize option.
Enable and disable private messages resize option.
Enable and disable visitor messages resize option.
Enable and disable vBadvanced CMPS resize option.

This hack has been tested:
- Using IE, FF, Chrome and Opera using default skin.

Installation:
- Upload the contents of upload folder to the root of your forum.
- Import the XML file via Plugins & Products > Manage Products > Add/Import Products.

Nice hack but I causes a xhtml issue:
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.2-wheel-planet.de%2Fprojekte%2F781-golf-3-cabrio-projekt.html&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&ss=1&outline=1&group=0&No200=1&verbose=1&user-agent=W3C_Validator%2F1.654
# Error Line 93, Column 105: there is no attribute "onload"

…o_white.gif" border="0" alt="" onload="NcodeImageResizer.createOn(this);" />vo…

You have used the attribute named above in your document, but the document type you are using does not support that attribute for this element. This error is often caused by incorrect use of the "Strict" document type with a document that uses frames (e.g. you must use the "Transitional" document type to get the "target" attribute), or by using vendor proprietary extensions such as "marginheight" (this is usually fixed by using CSS to achieve the desired effect instead).

This error may also result if the element itself is not supported in the document type you are using, as an undefined element will have no supported attributes; in this case, see the element-undefined error message for further information.

How to fix: check the spelling and case of the element and attribute, (Remember XHTML is all lower-case) and/or check that they are both allowed in the chosen document type, and/or use CSS instead of this attribute. If you received this error when using the element to incorporate flash media in a Web page, see the FAQ item on valid flash.

Can you add an option in the AdminCP to enable/disable that "Click this bar to view the full image" please. I'd rather it just be a click on the image, with no notification. It's especially annoying on signatures.

It would be nice to have a separate set of size restrictions for signatures, rather than a global setting, but I can live without that for now. ;)

I have a suggestion.
Instead of just setting a rule for image width, how about one for "height?"
I have a big problem with members using signature images that are too tall & I have to scroll an entire screen/page to get past their signature.

I would like allow my members to have a signature image that is:
<= 600px wide
<= 300px high

Hi, can you add different size options for blog page and forum post?

Replace this (in sevenskins_imageresizer template)
NcodeImageResizer.MAXWIDTH = '{vb:raw vboptions.sevenskins_imageresizer_maxwidth}';

with:
<vb:if condition="in_array(THIS_SCRIPT, array('blog', 'entry'))">
NcodeImageResizer.MAXWIDTH = '480';
<vb:else />
NcodeImageResizer.MAXWIDTH = '{vb:raw vboptions.sevenskins_imageresizer_maxwidth}';
</vb:if>

replace 480 with your blog image width.

It does not work if i use HTML to insert the image, as opposed to BB Code
The image was displayed but not resized

the image i was inserting seemed to be a dynamic URL as it would not display when i used [IMG], so I used HTML ""

Brilliant mod, thank you :)

Just a suggestion:
Is it possible to allow percentages, like e.g. 85% of the CSS width?
A max width of 600 is ok for people that are on 1024x768 resolutions (older laptops/new netbooks), but will be tiny on bigger screens.

I've installed it, but it's not working with me!

Check your settings. If the image size is below the dimensions specified in the ACP settings, it doesn't do anything. You can check it either by inserting a large image, or set the limits to something small in the ACP settings for the add-on to test it.

This appears to be the best of the image resizers working for 4.x, but does it work in the CMS? And if not is there an edit we can do ourselves to make it work in CMS?

The images posted in articles in the CMS sometimes are too big, and not only does it look ugly but there is no scroll bar or any way of seeing the full image. I don't think I'm the only one with this problem, a solution would be very nice.

Edit: nevermind, found one that does the CMS, and pretty much anywhere else on the site.

osayidan
04-09-2010, 04:34 PM
So in the end this is actually the best and simplest image resizer. I've now tried all of them, and played around with the code on each, and this one is the winner.

I managed to create a very crude fix for enabling CMS resizing on this one. Problem with it is that the warning bar on top becomes over-sized, probably some CSS issue. Here is an example:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2010/04/65.png

If you do not mind this, do not want to wait for a new hack or update to this one, and understand that you are doing this at your own risk, then here is how I did this:

Open: product-sevenskins_imageresizer-v1.0.0.xml

Find:

<plugin active="1" executionorder="5">

Image Resizer: Postbit and Signatures

<hookname>postbit_display_complete</hookname>
<phpcode>if($vbulletin->options['sevenskins_imageresizer_enabled']) {

$post['message'] = preg_replace('/<img src="([^"]*)" border="0" alt="" \/>/', '', $post['message']);

if($vbulletin->options['sevenskins_imageresizer_resizesignatures']) {
$post['signature'] = preg_replace('/<img src="([^"]*)" border="0" alt="" \/>/', '', $post['signature']);
}
}</phpcode>
</plugin>

Bellow this, and above "</plugins>, add:

<plugin active="1" executionorder="5">

Image Resizer: CMS

<hookname>global_complete</hookname>
<phpcode>
global $vbulletin;
if($vbulletin->options['sevenskins_imageresizer_enabled']){
//Resize Images in message
$output = preg_replace('/<img src="([^"]*)" border="0" alt="" \/>/', '', $output);

}</phpcode>
</plugin>

Save as a NEW file, this way you have the original to go back to if needed.
Uninstal/delete the old hack, you do not need to delete the contents of "upload" folder.
Import the edited one, you do not need to reupload the "upload" folder.

Check if it works for you.

If not, to revert to the old version, uninstal/delete this one. Import the original.

This is likely a very crude method of accomplishing this, and I'm only sharing this for those desperate for a good resizer that works on CMS. For me this is a temporary fix until the author of this hack releases something better.

Note: this was done on 4.0.2, I have no idea how it will behave on any other variation, or if any other mods will interfere.

I have always been a fan of the nCode resizer, primarily because of the bar above the image, which allows users to wrap [URL] around the image. Most - if not, all - resizers make the image clickable to enlarge, so wrapping [URL] has no effect; and a lot of my members do that.

I'd like to see multiple inputs on the AdminCP with multiple locations of images. (For example, being able to set a different max width for CMS, Blog, Posts, PM's, etc.)... Also, I've noticed that it doesn't resize [SIGPIC], which is a minor annoyance.

Also, any know how to set a different width if an image is quoted? My forum is fixed at 900px wide, so my images are resized down to 500px, but then if quoted, they stick out, so I make them set at about 460px... I'd like to be able to utilize max available area.

Even better, is it at all possible to just make max width "100%", so that it'll just resize down to the available area?

...But I'm just nitpicking here, brilliant mod :)

Any thoughts on making that a reality? Pretty please?

I love this hack - other resizers make something that should be simple into something complicated. This hack keeps it nice and simple!

Quick question though - on trying to improve my YSlow score, it is saying that the ncode js file reference should be moved to the footer. How can I do this?

OK, but if i wanna do that? what is the way? :p

Insert image using any method you like.

Highlight image.

Click on center icon in edit bar above edit box.

There may well be others who would like the OPTION of having images centered by default. I'm just saying that I would personally NOT like that as the only option.

I personally don't like the inbuilt vbulletin option.

It doesn't allow you to specify a max height, also you cannot click to see the full image.

Give me this mod over the vbulletin option anytime.

No it doesn't. :( Maybe need to remove the reference to the new vbulletin option in the css which may restore functionality to this mod ? I will have a play a bit later.

Well I have to leave for the afternoon, but I have so far found that removing the following code from postbit.css will stop the inbuilt vbulletin resizer from working, and allows this mod to work again - but it only appears to work in the blogs and not in the posts. I'm using postbit legacy, but perhaps someone can confirm it doesn't work in postbit also ? There must be something i'm missing - anyone have any ideas?

.postbit .content img, .postbitlegacy .content img, .postbitdeleted .content img, .postbitignored .content img, .eventbit .content img {
max-width: {vb:stylevar postbit_content_max_image_width};

Go into your stylevars and start typing postbit_content_max image, when that begins to appear click on it.

I have mine set % 100 this means that it will completely fill the post box but not spill outside, works a charm and means less plugins.

I hope that helps some of you :)

Will. :)
Would you please explain how to edit the file to show 100% so it works for all resolutions?

How did you do this?

Not sure why more people don't take this into account when creating these mods.

Or allow users to set their own re-size requirements in their usercp. I have askded for this to be added and even PM'd the mod author with a paid request to add it for me, but never heard anything back :(

This is happening to me now too, but only since upgrading to 4.0.5.

Any idea how to make it go back to just regular enlarging, and not making it enlarge inside the table itself and making the horizontal scroll bar appear?

This seems to no longer be happening with 4.0.6, it's back to normal. :)

Just upgraded to 4.0.7 and the problem is back again, the scroll bar is appearing and it's enlarging within the table again... ugh.

This hack works with on board uploaded pics too or not?

Im looking for a picture resizer with the bar on the top so I can enlarge to a bigger size.

You may need to comment out the code below from postbit.css

.postbit .content img, .postbitlegacy .content img, .postbitdeleted .content img, .postbitignored .content img, .eventbit .content img {
max-width: {vb:stylevar postbit_content_max_image_width};
}

Its in Stylevars

postbit_content_max_image_width

I set it to 50% so the images from external sites that are displayed are never larger than 50% of the viewers post area - but would prefer to use this mod to control the height also.

I set mine to 100% & it was working perfectly, but i just upgraded vbulletin to 4.0.8 & now it won't work & my images are all being displayed at half size ?

Its saying something about it being Deprecated In 4.0.8

Anybody got any ideas ?

Thanks

^^

Find in postbit.css template:

.postbit .content img, .postbitlegacy .content img, .postbitdeleted .content img, .postbitignored .content img, .eventbit .content img {
max-width: {vb:stylevar postbit_content_max_image_width};

}

Replace it with:

/*.postbit .content img, .postbitlegacy .content img, .postbitdeleted .content img, .postbitignored .content img, .eventbit .content img {
max-width: {vb:stylevar postbit_content_max_image_width};

}*/

It work ;)

A user posted an imagine offsite and its bleeding over, so I installed this mod. Image still bleeding over.

Though the image is in the blogs if that counts. 4.0.8

on 4.0.8 and need some help.

1. warning image on bar isn't showing

2. the resize only seems to resize up to some limit vbuleetin already has. for example, i can set my script max size at 700. vbulletin already seems to be reducing images to like 800. the original image is really 1000. at 800 i'm given no resize bar, at 700 i'm giving a resize bar, but it only resizes up to 800. i can't find this 800 listed in any setting. hrm? what's going on? please help! have enjoyed how well this script works on 3.8.

i just downloaded this at the top of the thread - says 1.0.1 in the product manager

This mod works with vb4.0.8 with a little help.

With vb 4.0.5 and 4.0.6 you had to do:
Admin cp > stylemanger > your theme > style vars > postbit > postbit_content_max_image_width > and set it to a high number for the mod to work.

Now in vb 4.0.8 they removed postbit_content_max_image_width, now you have to edit:

Admin cp > stylemanger > your theme > style vars > common > image_medium_max > and change this to a high value and the mod will work once again.

Hope this helps you guys out.

Is it possible to inform the user about the size of the original image? So the user would be aware of the size before clicking on the full image button.
