I'm curious... what is the normal process of resurrecting a popular mod after the originial author does not appear to support it any longer, and an attempt at contacting them fails?
Is it ok to rewrite the mod and bring it up-to-date as a fan update with credits back to the original author?

As long as the option "Re-usable Code" is showing in the mod thread.

I think you must have the permission of the mod author. Otherwise I don''t think you are allowed to do it. Unless you upgrade the mod for personal use only.
