I would like to integrate Google Maps on my website.
When members are logged in I would like them to put a marker on where they are right now. A small map should be visible on their profile, with their marker. A page on my website called World Map or something like that should show a world map with all members markers in it. When you hoover your mouse over one of the markers a picture and a link to that user will show.
I would also like to have a world map showing travelpictures. When you go to that map you should be able to click a button called "Upload pictures to world map", you are then choosing which country you are uploading pictures for. Then you upload pictures and these pictures will then show as markers on the map. When you click on the marker you can see all pictures taken from that place.
Is this something that has been done or someone who knows how to do it?
Cheers!

I've seen a few mods around that integrate maps in different ways. But it sounds like you have much grander plans than any I've ever seen, so I think you may have to consider hiring a coder to do it.

Thank you Videx. I'm thinking of hiring someone to do it. Is it someone you recommend?

No, I've never hired anyone to do anything. But if you have a big enough site and enough money to throw around you should have no trouble finding someone. But beware - you'll probably need them again when updates break things, and they may not be around.
I see you may be new at this. If so, I'd recommend easing off on the grand plans and just browse the working vb4 mods for something you can use for the first year or so until you become familiar with things.

This is relative simple to implement into vbulletin via forumblocks or widgets
or ewen better a whole page dedicated to this specifikly.
Travel maps
But the real challenge is creating the application to put in vbulletin,
googlemaps api is sorta okay to work with, and they are WERY SOON releasing
Google maps Api V3, its sorta availible now, but not finished, this would
hugely improve the tasks of a shared travel map or which you may prefer.
Location marker
as for marking current location, there are ALOT of maps, that does this pr ip.
and i got 4 running as test here : http://www.evisystems.org/content.php?45-Widgets-test-section
My personally prefered is the one with the still image called "last 100 visitors"
this uses google maps, and shows your location, when clicking the img.
im sure you can find a marker WERY near your current location.
i have allready shared it here on vb.org in mods section.
The globes and world map ones are from revolver maps, i just put them inside
a widget and tweaked them a little, and you can click them for more info.
they arent really that precise, but look nice.
