I guess I am in a sticky situation where there are still tons of bugs with 4.02 and I have lost much of the core functionality that formerly allowed our forum to grow significantly and exponentially. I was looking forward to the CMS but the design, principally, is horrible, and the bugs and other problems are all over the place.

The problem is I gave vb4.0 a solid week and in the mean time there are lots of posts so my backup will lose a week of interaction. I know the answer is probably "no" but is there any way to uninstall it and return to 3.84?

Also, it is a bandwidth hog... I have never run into bandwith issues and I am about to double my hosting costs. It also turns out I had some very important members who sure enough, were on dial up, and they are pretty unhappy. I have done everything I can within the parameters of 4.0 and me and my 13,000 member community feel pretty screwed...

The only way to go back is to import a backup of your site from before you upgraded.

you can pm (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/private.php?do=newpm&u=103114) this guy (mox-) to get (beta) downgrade script (if you didn't have backup)

Thanks for the link, hopefully I can upgrade my forum back to 3.8 and maybe I'll keep vBulletin then.

The only thing I can say is what a mistake it was to install vb4.0 -- we are getting used to it but what a nightmare. Particularly with continued support of 3.8.5 now I really really wish I have never made the upgrade. PLEASE vB team please make a supported reverse install code for those of us who are dealing with relentless issues with vB4.0

thanks,
Andre

People have asked. They've been told to go scratch.

How is it possible for an admin of a 13,000 member community to only have 15 posts here? And why would they ask here about this instead of at vb.com? And why, with 15k members would they only now be talking about getting a dedicated server?

Sounds fishy to me.

BTW, I saw maybe 5-10 bugs in vb401 that affected me. None at all in 402. Define 'tons'.

I was worried for the first couple of weeks after the install but now I am very happy and my members are warming up to it.
I would just give it a bit of time
