Hello EveryOne,

I am a new forum member here. My name is Keith.

I am thinking of starting a forum and I heard of vBulletin from my internet friends.

I believe vBulletin is the right forum solution for me but I am not sure if it supports the following features. For information, I used Invision Power Board previously so I have a bit of forum background.

I did raise a pre-sales support ticket on this and I was told to ask here because it concerns code modification. I was being redirected from vbulletin.com to here too.

I really need to know the following before I decide to invest into getting a forum license. I strongly believe that if a person is serious into forum business, it has to be constantly improved with better and newer features. That's why I do not believe in free forum software that basically do not provide support and can't do much.

My Questions

1) I currently have a blog known as http://aboutsingaporecasino.com created using wordpress. I do not have the intention to change my blog address at the moment.

I am thinking of creating a new forum called http://forum.aboutsingaporecasino.com with vBulletin that can integrate with my existing blog. For integration, I would hope,

- my new forum will showcase the latest posts of my existing blog on its main page. Can it be done?

2) I wish to create a special section in my forum where users can showcase their photos from their own flickr account by posting a thread. Can it be done?

In addition, I would like the recently added photos to be displayed on the main page of the forum, can it be done as well?

3) I currently have a Facebook Fan page account, can I integrate them into the new Forum as well?

I am wondering if my forum members can actually share the forum content with their Facebook friends easily, it would great for me. Does vBulletin has an API built-in for this?

Sorry, I know I have too many questions to ask. Hope you guys can be patience with me. :)

Cheers,
Keith Ong

Typical official vBulletin site response.

But, all three fo those modifications I believe are possible and are avaliable for the 3.8.x series of vBulletin here in the vBulletin.org community.

As for the latest 4.0.x series of vBulletin. ... I do not know the answer to that one. But I do know, I would not touch the current 4.0.x product line right now.

This website (vBulletin.org) is aiming at providing assistence with modifications and depend on members helping other members.

I don't have too much experience with the setup you are asking about but i will try to give some answers. Maybe another member who has more experience in similar setups can give you a better answer.

1) This shuld be doable. Adding the forum to your site would not give any problems. Integrating with your Blog will depend on the blog software used and if there is already a modification available to post the latest blog's on the forums. You can search our current modifications for this. Otherwise it would need to be written, but if your Blog is MySQL/PHP based then it should be doable.

2) This should be no problem.

3) There are various Facebook modifications available, please see if any of those address your needs.

2) can be done easily when you set up your forum users can do post images using the [ img ] tags like so http://galleries.animerealmz.net/Banners/ARZ-banner08.jpg

thats done like this but without the spaces [ img ]http://galleries.animerealmz.net/Banners/ARZ-banner08.jpg[ /img ]

the 4.0 suite has a built in gallery. the blog portion of the suite is great and you have a sidebar in the forums that will show what ever content you wish it to including the blog posts.

to see the suite in action just click the link in my sig. i do not use the built in gallery yet.
