I have vB 3.8.1 and am having an issue with the Usergroups.

All my members are in the Registered Users group which works perfectly.

I wanted to create a 2nd usergroup called "No PM" which is identical to the registered users group, but with the PM system disabled.

I created a new usergroup with all the Registered Users permissions inherited, with the only change being the PM inbox limit set to 0 to disable the PM's. When I change a users Usergroup to the No PM usergroup, they are essentially "banned" from the forum, the same as if I were to move them to the Banned usergroup.

The settings in the No PM usergroup are IDENTICAL to the Registered Users settings, it is NOT a "Banned Usergroup," but it treats its members like they are.

Additionally, when a new user registers for the forum and goes into the moderation queue, the settings are such that the user can still view the forum completely, but cannot post until they are approved. But all new users complain that they cannot view the forum at all once they register - again, the same issue as the No PM group - it doesn't want to let people do anything when they are anything but a Registered Users group member.

Any ideas???

At the top when you click "Add new usergroup" there will be "Create usergroup based off of usergroup" choose that.

If you already did then you should have no problems at all.

Go over each setting one by one and make sure they're all correct. Even double check.

Delete the usergroup and create another one.

Disable them 1by1 and check each time if this solves your problem.

Thanks! Looks like it was the vBadvanced CMPS. CMPS apparently has its own set of permissions, and if I don't check the little box next to the new usergroups in the CMPS permissions, it kills entire access to the forum for that usergroup. Go figure.....
