A subdomain is just a domain that points to a specified folder.
All you have to do is go into your cPanel or whatever hosting panel your hosters provide you, go into the Subdomains page and create a subdomain. Make sure that you point the domain to the right folder!

Where is your forum located? If your forum is in the root directory (public_html), create a new folder called forums in the public_html, then move all other folders into the forums directory. Then create a subdomain that points to /public_html/forums.
example:
/public_html/forums
Subdomain could be forum.yournamehere.com (points to public_html/forums)

If you redirect your forums from public_html to public_html/forums, then it should be fine.
