View Full Version : Yes, I know it's an old question but I need a new answer.

I have moved my site three times, each time due to hosting limitations, and I've yet to find a host that doesn't give me some limitation that causes problems and drives users away. My current problem is max cgi and mysql requests. I've lost about half of my dedicated members and I desperately need to find a solid (gimmick free) host that can support my needs.

Question:
What should I expect to reasonably pay for solid hosting? I'm tired of throwing good money at this thing and looking like an amateur.

Here's what I need:

60GB Storage
7GB Bandwidth (minimum)
Under $50 a month
Vbulletin Compatible
No ridiculous query or other limitations

Like I said, I know that this is an often repeated question, but I really need some good advise or I'm just going to have to close up shop. The time and effort is no longer worth providing a substandard product.

The relatively massive storage requirement of 60G is what's going to make it hard for you to find a host at under $50 a month.. they tend to have to actually pay for those hard drives.

> Under $50 a month

You can find awesome hosts that provide any and everything you need. And they charge you money for those things. That's the way it works.

I can fudge on the storage. I was just going by my current hosting. I could cut that in half.

Thank you for explaining how it works Chris!

For $50 a month I would have thought you could rent your own server, and certainly a vps.
