Easy Forms v4.x - Create a form or multiple forms without php or html knowledge

For some reason, my new users who fill out the form are moved to a moderated post. It didn't before.

Recently upgraded from 4.1.3 to 4.1.6. I have a MOD installed (GlowHost - Spam-O-Matic), not sure if that could be my problem.

Basically I use the form for potential recruits for our gaming clan. I want the user to post the form unmoderated. Did something change in the settings or did I miss something?
I use one of the forms for the exact same thing and this happened to me once before.
Check your forum permissions within the forum the results are being posted and ensure that you have "yes" checked for "Follow Forum Moderation Rules" for the usergroup posting the form. This should do the trick. ;)

I made the modification in the Custom Usergroup, so it was global. Now when a new user post, he will be able to without any post placed in the moderation que. If I found the place to do that just for that forum, it would do that as well is my guess.

I only want a new user to be able to post the form (recruiting post) without going to moderation and any other post to still be moderated. I just want to exempt that form. It was doing that fine until my update to 4.1.6 so I can only guess I am missing a setting either in this MOD or re look at my spam mod.

Also I am new to vB, so the learning curve is steep =]

First, I gotta say this is my favorite mod. The help I received in this forum to do some posting to current forums and such was phenomenal. Thank you.

I am working on an upgrade for our current site which is running vB 4.1.2 PL2 and Easy Forms 4.2.5 and am testing it all out on another server. I've installed vB 4.1.7 and Easy Forms 4.3.0, then imported the forms from my main site.

First issue -- I use the custom form output with the following info on my current site:

Second issue -- The other odd issue is on several occasions during testing the browser (firefox) popped up and warned me about leaving the page when I click either the submit or preview button. It doesn't occur every time, but I haven't pinned this issue down yet.

The ouput places the answer to question 54 where answer 52 should be. It does not display the answer to 54. The output is shown below. The public comments question indicates it is question #52. The answer that was submitted was "just here for the view" but you can see it duplicated the result from answer 54. It looks like there are some pointer issues somewhere. I may uninstall version 4.3.0 and try 4.2.5 on vB 4.1.7 and see what happens.

Downgrading to version 4.2.5 did not help, and in some ways made matters worse. When it imported the forms that had been modified by version 4.3.0 the question #'s all changes, as did the form id #. All of the custom formatting based on question #'s were now incorrect.

Also, the form displayed properly when selected from the forms menu, but when called through my hooks, the vBulletin editor fields are really messed up.

I'm removing 4.2.5 and going back to 4.3.0 since it knows about the CKEditor. Then I'm going to build a test form from scratch and see if my problems are coming from the export/import process.

Yeah, uh that's a bug and I really don't care what the programmers say. That message is intended to indicate to users that they may be accidentally leaving a site where they have entered data but not processed it. Sad to see that cropping up in this new version.

The deeper I get into an upgrade to 4.1.7, the less I am pleased with it. My production site has been compromised and I am constantly fighting spammers using it. The hosts we have used blame it on vB 4.1.2 PL2 and all want me on the latest version. So nice how they screwed up so much that most of my mods no longer function correctly.

:confused: vB 4.2.5 patch level 4000? We're currently only at 4.1.7 and the previous versions of Easy Forms will not work with any version since the CKEditor was introduced.

Actually, now I've forgotten. Was the CJK Editor introduced in 4.1.5 or 4.1.6? Either way, you'd have to go back to the old editor to get the former versions of this add-on to work.

I was able to resolve the problem with the "leave page" issue by modifying and uncompressed version of the clientscript/vbulletin_textedit.js file. I have another mod, vS Hide Hack, the installs a button in the editor toolbar. It shows up everywhere except when the editor is included in the Easy Form vB editor question display. Anyone else see this and is there a workaround to support the custom buttons and related features?

Is there any possibility of multiple vB editor questions in a single form at some point in the future? Maybe using an alternate editor, or if vB can make the ckeditor re-entrant? If you can tell me/us what is broken then I/we can add pressure to vB to make an adjustment to support the feature.

My current workaround is to only have one vB editor field, but our old form provided a richer environment to submit attractive, formatted comments to the forums.

My system crashed yesterday and after restoring the database and code, I get the following error when trying to view a form:Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '.', expecting T_VARIABLE or '$' in /home/ourhomen/domains/ourhome2.net/public_html/vb/includes/class_core.php(4444) : eval()'d code on line 86
I have tried creating a new form and it has the same issue. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the mod with no change. I have also disabled all the custom hooks I created to point to the forms. I am stumped at this point. The only thing that appears to be not working at this point is easyforms and I can't find a way to recover, or even start over.

I can edit the form as much as I want, I just can't view it without the error at the top of the page, and the header and footer intact. Just the form itself is missing.

UPDATE

I was able to resolve the problem by reverting some corrupted templates for EasyForms. I knew I had not customized anything in there but two of them showed up in red, indicating they were not the default version. Apparently the database restore wasn't perfect, as the templates are stored in the database on my system.

Don't know if this helps you:

1. Create a custom BB code for Google Maps (see https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=235625 or https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=234318 )

2. In the form add a normal text field labeled "Location" . If you now write the URL / address into this form field with Google Map BBcode around it, it will show the map in the forum

Going back several months, There was/maybe still is, a subscription issue . The problem was that when the form submits to a new thread the user would not be subscribed to it even though the default setting for a new user was set to automatically subscribe the new-user to threads.

Since then I've found that it does subscribe them if they make a second reply to that thread, which would be most of the time, in my case anyway. So the problem is not such a big problem.

I am figuring that for some reason part of the system doesn't know that the user started the thread therefore doesn't know that it needs to subscribe them to it. ( wild guess ) .

Anyway, thanks for a great mod and great support of it.

Please consider giving us the option to edit dropdown box content in one large field instead of individual fields. As it stands every time I edit the dropdown box it means copying and pasting 70 some odd options in succession over and over again.

I'd simple delete and readd the question to use the large text box but that means editing a lot of code I have written which requires the use of the that specific dropdown's ID.

Does this work with this version? It appears that i can only create forms by going directly to my browser (thus outside of vbulletin). I do not see anything inside of Vbulletin other than the permissions.

I have been able to add a plugin to call the forms up whenever someone starts a new thread, but it posts with the name of the form as opposed to the user.

I think this mod has tremendous potential, but the learning curve is steep. (... at least for me...) If you have documentation on how this works along with a few examples, I think it would go a long way in making this more user friendly. Thanks a bunch.

Thanks for the plugins, it works very very well, and I love it...

However, my question is:

I would like to create a form for the user to be able to send in their photo for competition. The photo can not be posted to the forum, rather they have 4 fields on the form to attach 4 different photo from their local disk. Once the form submitted, all the information including the 4 photos will be send to me via email.

I can create the form, however, I can not find any field that suitable to setup for the user to be able to attach their photos. Is there a way to do so?

I've started receiving the following message when guests submit the form:
Form failed to submit. The following error(s) occured:
The string you entered for the image verification did not match what was displayed.


The issue is there is no human verification field in the form - so there is nowhere to enter an answer.

When I add a human verification field the issue changes but is related. The verification appears but the form will submit and show that error if I enter the verification correctly - if I don't the normal inline warnings appear preventing submission.

In my ignorance I suspect VB is trying to add it's own verification image but it's not being displayed correctly. Can anyone confirm?

Tested with ReCAPCHTA and Image Verification

Running VB4.1.7 PL2 & VBSEO and mod version 4.3.0 on default VB theme.

EDIT2: Rolling back progressively found that forms V4.1.9 is the last working version for me. Forms V4.1.9 displays a verification image for guests by default - future versions don't.

I tried to read through everything but there is a lot here. I just have a small issue:

1) I created a form
2) I added a new usergroup
3) I went to the form permissions to add the new usergroup
4) The new usergroup does not show up on the current form.

Is there something I can do - or do I have to delete and recreate the form from scratch?

You currently have to search around page 30 or so with the information pointing to the older version which does list it. however I digress, as an administrator this mod says I dont have permission to use it. Thank you for porting this over to version 4. I was using the version for my VB3 forum and stopped being able to use it when I jumped versions.
Since I found a gallery program to house all my images I really needed something like this to make a artwork/wiki link setup. But I looked at this like I looked at the VB3 version and had that deer in the headlights look. I did remember you made a demo xml form for me to get started and it's still live in the old thread. I nabbed it and I'm off to save myself hours of having to generate all that by hand. With 120 albums that would be a lot of work. So combined with the embeded link generator module in the gallery and your mod for the forum this is going to be a snap.

If memory serves this error also appeared in my VB3 setup but I can't remember how it was fixed. I'm sure it's something simple cause you don't make no trash. If we can get it going it will save me a lot of time and effort.

I got it sorted out. Just needed to make a new form from scratch. Works fine now.

bananalive, I've suddenly lost the ability to edit 3 of my forms. I tried to edit it via the URL but that just says I don't have access to edit those forms.
The Edit Form option is no longer present on the 3 forms we use the most. Every other form is still editable.

I am the head administrator of this forum. How do I not have access to edit these forms? I haven't fiddled with permissions in months and this just happened within the last week or so. I've not updated anything on the forum, addons, themes, nothing.

Yes I did I even cleared and reset them. The result is the same I can edit every other form but the 3 I mentioned.

I've created every form so I figured, I'd only want people who created their forms to edit their forms IE: Me. Even though all the "Usergroups Allowed to Edit Forms" includes Admins.

Since I created all the forms, I don't understand how that option somehow turned off my ability to edit some forms while leaving other forms alone.

I would guess you need to turn post moderation on in the forum you've selected the results of the Easy form to post to.

AdminCP -> Plugins & Products -> Manage Products -> [Add/Import Product]

This option does not appear in my AdminCP.

When I go to the AdminCP > Plugins & Products > Plugin Manager I see the following items unchecked and crossed out:

WOL Part 2
I thought that maybe this was the problem, but marking them active did nothing.

I have verified multiple times that all of the files have been uploaded to the proper locations on the webserver, and the file sizes are the same there as in my extracted d/l file.

I'm assuming that when I can see the Easy Form option in my AdminCP, I can make any necessary configs to make this work. But currently I have nothing.

I would guess you need to turn post moderation on in the forum you've selected the results of the Easy form to post to.

It is turned on, normal threads go into the moderation queue, threads created by the form bypass the moderation.

I remember someone had an issue where new threads created by the form would bypass a previously imposed post limitation in that forum, so I am going to guess your problem is of related reasons.

I have the mod installed and running nearly flawlessly, aside from one issue. Whenever a form is submitted a thread is created and the results are displayed as they should be save from one annoyance. The answers always appear in the color green, no matter what I attempt to change it to. When you preview the form before submitting, the answers show up in the correct color, but once posted they're green. The questions, however, appear in whatever color they're supposed to during preview and after posted.

Any ideas as to what may be causing the issue, and / or how I may go about finding said issue and resolving it would be greatly appreciated.

##edit## I have a small request for the mod, just a small quality of life issue. Is there any way to add the option of closing the poll after x days when creating a poll with a thread from the form submission? This option is available by default when creating a new thread and posting a poll.

On another note I have found one problem that seems to be pertinent to this mod. It's occurring with two different forms that I use to post new threads to two different forums. I am running vBulletin 4.1.1 and I'm wondering if this started after the update to it. The forms work fine, they post to the forums as they should, but the thread does not show as "new" but instead shows as "read". Otherwise, function is fine. Any thoughts? The only thing I can think of that's changed is the update to the forums software. This has occurred with both 4.2.6 and 4.3.0 versions of this mod, incidentally.

I am trying to create custom image-hosting database, where subscribed users enter in their photograph information (upload photos, etc.) that generate to actual webpages (not PMs/emails/forum posts). Kinda like Flickr or Pbase.

Can this MOD be configured to do something like this, or does it only have to do with forum posts/emails/PMs etc.?

I have a question myself.

I have created a contactform that sends me an email and posts a topic in a hidden board when someone enters the form.
That is working just fine.

In this form i created an e-mail field that only people who are NOT logged in can see and fill in.
I would like to use this field as the reply-to value in the e-mail that is send to me so i don't have to copy and paste email address when i try to reply the e-mail.
(but only when it was send by a user that was not logged in)

I have did this and can select the prefix when am filling out the form but will not assign the thread with the prefix i have to then go back in and edit the thread and pick the thread prefix and the it does assign it.

In the admin panel, I have the option "All registered users can view/edit/delete their own form results saved to database."set to "Yes".
However when somebody tries to delete one of his own entries, he gets permission denied.

2 other questions:
Can I display the delete button also on the form results table?
Is it possible te remove some of the links on top of the results page. So when somebody is watching the form results, there is no link to the tables,poll page, etc

I go to the forum with the forumid of 70 and the new thread button does not go to the form but the regular new post form.

Hi Guys,

at first this is a great an very useful mod.

But I have a question or problem. But before I come to that I explain what I want.
I have created a forum and within that I had provide a FanFic section which my users can
write an public their own stories.
But before they do that, there should be a story-header in the first post of the new created
thread.
Normaly each user which want to public a Story use a prefabricated template to copy this in the

first post of the story.

But this is inflexible because the users can't define and choose different values e.g. title of

the story, category in which the story is sort in, age details and so on.
Therfore this mod allowed me to create a template so each of my users can use that for their own

story. This will be very flexible and useful.

Now I come to my problem or question:

When the user use the story-form for his own story and fill in all fields, is there a posibility

when he click on submit, that the form mod will create a thread in the right section with the

value of the e.g. dropdown category field.

Here a example:
Within the FaFic section, there is e.g. two subforen. The first subforen ist called Crime and

the other one is horror. Each subforen is a category at the same time. That means, if the user

had chosen a category the form mod should take the value of the category and will create a new

thread in the right section.

Edit the forum permissions to not allow users to post. The button will still display, but they will get access denied when they click on it.

If you want to hide the button, you will need to make a few template edits and add some vb:if statements. All of which are unrelated to this plugin.

In 3.8 I was able to use conditionals in certain forums based on the forumid to change the URL of the new thread button. I've tried to rewrite the conditionals for vb 4.2 and just doesn't seem to work, any thoughts?

I do not what to have to view the Results table, my users want to view the formatted results, with the Date/Time Stamp included.

You need to go to your URL /misc.php?do=forms

From there, you can access everything. Just make sure you setup the permissions in the Options in the AdminCP.

And yes, it works on 4.2 without issue.

How would I go about inserting the answers of a specific form into my database? (Not the default save to databse function)

During a previous installation, I had a form set up to insert info into the database in the user profile field. If you want it inserted elsewhere, you'll need to modify as necessary. I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend developing this on a test install because, if you don't know what you're doing, you can royally mess up your database.

Note: This may no longer work, try and use at your own risk. ;)


You first need to get the question number where they enter in the info - you get this in the questions list (I believe) or by editing the individual question.

Then you need to find the corresponding user profile field ID. This is seen in the "name" field on the profile field manager (i.e. "field34").

There are two basic parts to this, the first is to make the field "play nice" with the database so it doesn't break any code. Replace the $q[###] with the appropriate question number. Repeat this line for each question you have that you want to insert into the database... change the $info# AND $query# so that each line (variable) is unique.


$userid=$vbulletin->userinfo['userid'];

$info# = addslashes($q[###]);

$query = $db->query_first_slave("UPDATE userfield SET field###='$info1' WHERE userid='$userid' LIMIT 1");

So for example, if I have a question #12 that I want put in user field 30, and a question #14 that I was in user field 33, this is what mine might look like:

$info1 = addslashes($q[12]);
$info2 = addslashes($q[14]);

Aha, thanks! I fixed that in my post. That's what I get for copying from a old database backup. :) Glad to help!!

We used to do this for very complex database things (specifically messing with the Event Attendance tables) without giving members direct access to the queries. We even added in error checking (like "You aren't RSVPd for this event") by sometimes using variables and if statements.

First wanted to say I love the mod. It is helping me out a lot. I am having one problem with it. Whenever I copy a form and then use the copied form, I get the following error message:

Form failed to submit. The following error(s) occured:
Please complete both the subject and message fields.

There is nothing being left blank when I use my form, I am filling out all required information.

Any idea what I am doing wrong? I am using the newest version of VB. Thanks in advance for your help!

When you copy the form, does it copy over the form "Title"? Sounds like you may have some of the settings blank?

Thanks for your reply Elenna. Your post made me dig a little digger and I was able to figure it out.

After copying the form, at first glance everything was filled out like it was suppose to, including the title. I had it as q_1 (question 1)

The problem was that question 1 was no longer q_1 in the database for this form. It was q_13. Once I change that the title error was no longer a problem.

Another issued I had was when I was editing the copied formand selected all, it was not properly updating the database. I had to select each section individually for it to properly update.

Now that I know what I did wrong everything works great!

If you're trying it in the title, maybe it won't work?

That is likely a vBulletin setting for the max characters per post. You can change that in the settings (Message Posting options, I believe).

Friends, i have very strange question...pls help.

1. Admin of forms create form with option save to DB and posting result to forum.
2. User fill out and submit.
3. User wants to change its, and send PM to admin of forms. Example: @I made a mistake with Number of places, I have not 3, i wanna 4".
4. Admin changed result of form.
5. But, in autopost 3 not changed on 4!

Q: How to link edit the result in the administrative part of the result in a forum?

Ok, I tried this, but then I have to go back to all the usergroups and change their permissions to allow attachments and then they can view the attachments box.

Is there a way to add a short "Upload" button that just says, "browse for photo" or something to that effect without having to give sitewide attachment permissions??

I need an "Upload Photo" button that can be used if the form is being sent to email, rather than posted to thread and submission of photo is Required- not optional.

Is there anyway to make one form lead to another ? I am thinking of a basic workflow.

User submits form and becomes a new thread in a subgroup, admin opens it and after some checks can click another button somewhere which will grab the information n that form to populate another form that will do things like add a user to a group, move a thread to a different forum and send a pm to the original user.

I can get everything working (I think) using two seperate forms but I'd love to tie them together so the admin doesn't have to cut and paster from one submitted form to another open form.

Haven't used forms since upgrading to 4.2.0.

Just started using them again and I've found that it's dumped all the permission settings from the AdminCp-->Options-->Settings-->Easy Forms and won't save them when they're reset!

Anyone experienced this and anyone know a fix?

EDIT: Problem solved: for some reason, would not save settings when accessed with "show all settings" but would save permissions fine when the individual Easy Forms option was chosen from the list.

I am having a problem where I press create a form, press "save" and then on the next screen modify something, hit "save" again and it redirects me to the forum rules. So stumped, anyone got any idea?

Note: Many of the bugs mentioned above, e.g., the "navigate away from this page" popup, are cause by using the ckEditor in your form. In particular, note that you can NOT have more that one editor field on a form or the form will not submit.

Workaround: Change any ckeditor items to multline text fields.

I have duplicated my live site domain/vb to a test site domain/vbtest and upgrade from vB 4.1.11 to vB 4.2.0pl2. I have also created a new database and restored a backup of the live site to the test database. I adjusted the config settings so the test site is functioning as expected, with one exception. The Forms tab and the Forms Quicklinks menu item are missing. The form processing is working as expected, and I can get to the forms.php page when needed to modify the forms. In my live site I access the forms through redirects based on code examples you provided. That also is working in the test site. The only thing failing is the Forms tab and the Forms Quicklinks menu.

I uninstalled and reinstalled with no change. Any ideas? Is this related to the upgrade?

Well I get this message every time somebody tries to submit the form the user gets the following error Illegal variable _files or _env or _get or _post or _cookie or _server or _session or globals passed to script - I also get it as admin if I click on the edit question link however if I right click on the link I can open it in a new tab

[Major] After submission as unregistered user in "verification stage" fields which are marked guest only are removed. This can prevent submission if they are marked compulsory
"Allow attachments" causes non-existent verification image to be checked at submission for unregistered users

I have a problem that I have been banging my head on the wall with. I currently have it set up that users are assigned different usergroup based on what options they pick. I would like to take it a step further and based on these same options it PM's a predefined usergroup or users. Here is my try. I believe the field for PM is incorrect possibly even the code.

I am getting this error everytime my member tried to submit a form, even though i have put Human Verification Captcha inside the Form, and they type it correctly.

This problem occurs after i tried to turning on Captcha Required before Posting. because too many spam bots on my forum.

Can someone help me?

I don't see how Spam bots could be an issue unless perms allow Guests to submit.

So it would automatically place KGodel into that field is there an easy way of doing that?
