Of course I can add. I've added all types of ads in my other mods. Just because this mod is for use by admin and/or moderators, I thought that is better to not include it in the navbar. Even if it will not be visible to members, maybe it will take a long space from admin's navbar. "Newsletter" is a bit long word:-)

Don't compare it with vb's option "Email Users". This is a mailing list manager. In simple words the messages are stored and reusable. But the most important point is that you've the ability to send the email at a time that your server has not so much trafiic.

Steps for sending an email:

Create the message. You can insert images, styling the text etc.
Save the message
Create a campaign by assigning the mailinglist to send (in free version there is only one mailinglist), the message and the time that you want to send the message.
Save the campaign
The automatic cron runs every hour (you can change it from cron manager). If you want to send it right now, you must go to cron manager and click "Run now" the cron microNEWSLETTER Campaigns.Maria

I know, but something important as bounces :). Without to track bounces it not so good a newsletter plugin would rate it a 7 without it. I must say it looks good from what i can see in the screenshots.

Also is it wise to link to your site in emails because if the system is being abused you PR will go down.

Is your server time the same with yours? In anycase I found bugs on using crons. vB bypass even its own crons. The mod is working well, that's why when you click "Run now", you're getting the message "Done". So, its about a vB's bug.

Do you mean that the emails never sent? That's impossible. I've full my mailbox with test campaigns, and an hour ago I sent a mailing to my members. They got the email.
Please note that after a successfull campaign its marked as completed and you can't send it again. In this case the "Done" that you see at cron's screen is just an information that it run the job. Check at your front-end if this campaign is marked "Finished".

** By runing manually a cron the scheduled time does not change.

Received an error when running the CRON:

To check for valid/invalid email address, I'm using the native vB function "is_valid_email()". Normally it must reject the email and continue to the next one. Strange that it brings mysql error.

I don't think so, as this is just a few lines before. Actually the problem is why this email has been accepted. I also added this function in the cron, just for an additional security check, but the problem is before, during record's save.

The standard link is newsletter_actions.php?do=unsubsribe but there are 2 more dynamic variables to add. Email (&email=...) which you can get easily using "$vbulletin->userinfo['email']", but the last one (&groupid=...) is impossible to get it, except if you add "$groupid=1", as the free version permits only one mailinglist.

In the PRO version should be normal Subscribe/Unsubscribe form as widget in CMS and as block in forumhome (if you're using the native vB right/left side block).

Like my dedicated server is running 6 hours ahead of my time so if I installed it and set it to run 1 hour later, my time, Id be waiting until next day. You can check your server time several ways so that you know the exact server time.

Thank you for your supporting words Tamela:) I do, also have problems with server's time, that's why when you setup a new campaign it shows the server's time, so you can calculate a bit more easier after how many hours you want to send the emails. Leaving the default values, the emails will be send by the next cron job run.

If a mail is undeliverable it's bounced and the account should be flagged somehow for an email address update. Most mailing lists just unsubscribe the user depending on the error code. It my case I'd like to see the bounced user moved to the awaiting email confirmation usergroup.

I've read that you mentioned something about that but I think you should think about a standar template for your system that would be able to grab info from your board like Latest Threads and Posts, Blogs, Hot Threads, Lastest Members, you know something that shows what's happening in your board. It would be nice if this template could be able to grab part of your style as well.

I'm not the type of coder, who has the full version and cut it to give a lite. I'm coding something, and if I find it that it becomes populat I'm adding more features.

Yes, actually the free version works such a way (even if admin can manually add more emails). The mailing list is updating from your member table every 15 minutes.

You don't need to clean anything when you're retrieving data from the database. You clean only INPUTS.

If it's to buy the PRO version just for the copyright removal, I'm giving you my permission (because you asked before), to remove it. Don't get me as selfish person, but I do believe that I'm doing good work, so I want someone to pay just for the additional features.

As for the cron job. As I wrote before, after my nap, with a fresh coffee, I'll try to find a solution to vb.com. If not, I'll code normal files to run with normal crons.

As i don't believe that vmood named their template "micronewsletter_navbar_menu", most probably is another vb bugs with positioning in navbar. Let me explain. Navbar has 3 positions:

navbar_start
navbar_middle
navbar_endBy saying navbar_end dosen't means that only one menu should be there. Every newer menu with navbar_end goes just after the other.

So the only that you've to do is to play with positions. Goto Plugins & Products -> Plugins Manager and try to change the position. Start with my mod. Try to change:
$template_hook['navbar_end'] to $template_hook['navbar_middle']

Then check the results.

In this case, the bug comes from vmoods and not from my mod, so you need to contact it's author. I gave a look at his code. In his effort to add his link anywhere, he wrote a complicated code, something not so good when you're working with navbar, which was always the weak point of vB (for coders).

I don't know the usability of this mod, but having a link only in Forum's tab (which is a 5 lines code), it was enought. Trying to add it in cms and blog, increased the code.

Send email works with the help of a cron job. If you left datetime unchanged, then the emails will be send in the next cron run (default: every 30 min). If you want to send them right now, you must run the crom microNEWSLETTER manually.

Do you mean vB's CMS? This is automatic. But if you've vB's installation in a subdirectory (eg forums), then you must edit your site's index.php to contain only:

Whatever the original issue is with the software, I don't know. But more than likely the reason you still got it is two things.

#1, You need to disable the cron that sends the email (until this issue is figured out).

#2, The mails were already in the mail server queue and it's still sending out the queue. You can't do anything about that one, other than wait it out.

If you've access to your database with phpMyAdmin check if the the field "active" of that campaign has value og zero.

Deleting subscribers manually is not the right way. It's better to let the script to send once email to spammer and as they'll be bounce, they'll be automatically put in the blacklist.

Another way to work as you like, is to modify the file includes/cron/micronewsletter_members
Replace:

$sql = $vbulletin->db->query_read("SELECT * FROM ".TABLE_PREFIX."user ORDER BY userid ASC");

With:

$sql = $vbulletin->db->query_read("SELECT * FROM ".TABLE_PREFIX."user WHERE usergroupid<>8 ORDER BY userid ASC");

Unsubscribe link doesn't remove any members from the list, weve tried to on several accounts and all those members still remain in the newsletter email list. This is not good at all, as it sets us up for potential blacklisting as a spammer. Is this feature disabled on the this trial version?

Also editor erases line breaks upon edit and also writes everything to bbcode.

Yeah, same here. I think it's due to a cron-job that syncs subscribers with the user table. IMO, this cron should either only run once, or it should be moved to the product install.

I also had to manually go in and change falses to trues everywhere in order to get HTML working in the campaigns.

When ever I save changes on the option page and have the server type selected to "imap" it want to revert back to pop3. How would I go about fixing this?

Lite X 3 (at least). Really I don't remember how many additional features I've already added, and more are coming. Just keep in mind, that in the last upgrade to PRO version, I've added a 3nd party commercial HTML editor (InovaStudio.com), for much better looking mails, but your current message will be incompatible as it saves messages as bbcode.

The Pro version, even has relay feature, which means that you can send a message to your list even from your mobile.

Solved problem with complete change of the "Newsletter Navbar" Plugin to:

Why does this require POP/IMAP, and not instead simple mail relay from the webserver?

Also, there needs to be a lot more per-user customizability. It shoudl say "Hey USERNAME" You were last on FORUM NAME on DATE OF LAST ACTIVITY..." And then lead into the newsletter's content. Like the forum inactivity reminder mods, or the PM/subscription standard functions.

Also, a limit to how many emails are sent per batch. 50, 100, 1000....on most hosts, it matters how many bulk emails are going out. When you have a board of 5000 plus members...you can't simply "hit send".

I have a problem when writing the letter.

For some reason it doesn't let me indent or space out, so if I write in paragraph form, it just comes out as one.

It worked fine before.

In this case, the bug comes from vmoods and not from my mod, so you need to contact it's author. I gave a look at his code. In his effort to add his link anywhere, he wrote a complicated code, something not so good when you're working with navbar, which was always the weak point of vB (for coders).

I don't know the usability of this mod, but having a link only in Forum's tab (which is a 5 lines code), it was enought. Trying to add it in cms and blog, increased the code.

I tried to install this, but too much went wrong so I just uninstalled it. The main problems were that the newsletter page broke my theme (I am using an altered version of Darkness, which uses its own header area), and the navbar tav never appeared.

Don't. I bought it. It's still too buggy and too lacking in features to be useful.

Mailinglists I have seven lists, the problem is that when I want to work independently and delete such a subscriber, the reload does not return to the list I was working, going to the generic.

Also to see all users of a specific list where I can find from the last page link generic

I'm having the same problem, i've had people wanting to cancel their account due to 10 to 15 emails being received from 1 campaign that they should of had only 1 email..

Please need a quick fix.

I've deleted the campaign but I don't know if the emails are still sending or not. Is there another way to cancel the emails being sent or checking if they are still sending?

Most probably you hit twice (or more) the button when adding the champaign. In any case, as it's long time that I've released the free version, and since then I've made many updates, please check with phpMyAdmin, if there is any table: micronewsletter_queue. If yes, empty it (TRUNCATE).

Really I don't remember if this version is with HTML editor or the vBeditor, but the PRO version is using a powereful commercial HTML editor where you can paste even Word documents.

The mod can not just work on vb 3.8.6. ?

I checked and there was no such entry.

Is it possible to purge the member list and regenerate? I deleted several members and it will be difficult to find and remove them from the member list. For example, I have 275 members now but 334 on the mailing list.

Yes. With phpMyAdmin, empty (TRUNCATE) the table micronewsletter_subscribers. In the next cron run it will populate again with your current users.
