View Full Version : vBulletin Forum Sideblocks - Members who have visited (Sideblock)
Paul M
01-24-2010, 10:00 PM
This modification is no longer available or supported.
This modification adds the members who have visited display to the forum sideblocks.
As per the main modification, this cannot count guests, it is members only.
Note: This is untested on vBulletin 4.0.0, but I think it should be fine.
The main features are as follows ;
1. It displays in the Forum Sideblocks (Default Display Order = 1).
2. Invisible users are only displayed to those allowed to see them (with a "*")
3. Users who should display as coloured or bold etc will be displayed correctly (based on the display usergroup).
4. If you 'hover' over a username it will show the time they were last active.
5. An option to record and display the Most Ever Members can be enabled.
6. The switch between Visited Today and Rolling 24 Hours is an ACP option.
7. The list view is collapsable, so you just see the number .
8. The display can be set as always collapsed on initial page load (however, this can have odd results as the display is cached).
(Options are in vBulletin Options > Who Has Visited Today Block)
Please note this sideblock uses the block cache system, so it will always be slightly behind realtime in its display - the cache ttl is set to 5 minutes.
To install just unzip the XML and import into vB using the ACP Product Manager.

Yes, you can, as long as you credit the orignal author in your code (i.e. me ...).

I already did this the other week.

Hi Paul,
I thought I'd let you know.
I have a brand new install of 4.0.3. I had two sideblocks, blog entries and tag cloud (both empty since it is a new install).
After installing product, they both disappeared.
I disabled product, then they both reappeared together with disabled product
Nice coding, btw! Thanks for doing it.
P.S. PM me if you'd like to have access.

Paul,
This may sound like a dumb question, but does/can this work for vBadvanced CMPS? I know they have a "Members Online" section, but it's somehow broken on my forum and the doofuses over there haven't given me any help to fixing it.
Looks fantastic thus far though!

Weird indeed, sounds like something to do with the vb sideblock caching.

I have no idea about CMPS, its not something I use. This mod however is purely for the vb sideblocks.

no. Looks like disabling product has no effect. Block itself must be disabled.
Paul M
04-23-2010, 08:50 AM
I was talking about the initial part you mentioned.
Yes, the product is basically just an installer (same for the widget) - it doesnt control the actual display of the block. However, disabling it will have a couple of minor side effects - it will turn of the caching of the template, and and maybe the template listing in the acp, depending on other mods.

It looks like the vB 4.04 upgrade has broken this. I'm now getting a blank box ("There are no visitors to list at this moment.").

*sigh* IB really are testing my patience - WTF do they have to keep changing things and breaking mods, it really makes me want to just give up.
It seems that 4.0.4 has somehow f**ked the way the block is compiled and then cached, which is why it appears ok every so often (every time the cache expires, then it reverts to the broken cached copy again).

<u>4.0.7 Released</u>
This should work correctly with the caching changes in vb 4.0.4 - however on first upgrading you will need to clear the existing cache (or just wait 5 minutes for it to expire). The latest version should still work ok in older versions of vb 4.0.x

Any thoughts?

Yes, Ive forgotten to change the product update code to 4.0.7, so its not updating the blocks php code when you upgrade from 4.0.6 (it will actually work if you upgrade from an older version).
I wilI fix the upgrade tonight (uk time), until then you will need to uninstall it, and then install it again.

Blocks are a bit hit and miss as they dont store the product id.
It attempts to find and update the existing block, but failed and defaulted to adding it again.
The failure was due to a typo in the code, which I have fixed.

Updated due to the removal of the old collapse images in 4.1.11 - the replacement images are actually available in 4.1.8, 4.1.9 & 4.1.10 so you can update to the new version even if you havent upgraded from them to 4.1.11 yet. vBulletin versions prior to 4.1.8 are not supported by the current version (for 4.1.0 to 4.1.7 you can use the file prefixed with 417). vBulletin 4.0.x is not supported at all and no version is available to download.

What a great add-on for the blocks area. Thank you!
Is there an easy way to make the content text (member names) a bit smaller, so it won't be such a big block?
I'm into the EDIT BLOCK (CONTENT) area of ADCP, where the code is listed. i'm just not sure what to change or where to do so. Is it this line that needs to be changed? $wvtb['style'] = 'style="display: none"';
Thanks for any advice, if you have time to look at it.

The text, and anything else there, is controlled by the style variables under the Sidebar category.
