The event should be deleted when the thread is deleted - not sure how it got orphaned? To remove, you will need to manually edit your database to remove that item. Do you have access to phpMyAdmin? If so, look in the vbookie_items table for item_id 3 and delete that row.

not built in, but I should add that sometime. If you really need to add an event to an existing thread, you can manually craft the URL to do so.

Take note of the threadid, and then head to the URL "vbookie.php?t=nn&do=newevent" where nn is the thread ID, you should then be able to add a book to the thread.

Have you considered allowing more than one event per thread? We take our lines (aka spreads) from pro handicappers so when the line (spread) moves we have to create a new thread/event. Currently we are adding games in blocks (see pic) (http://imgur.com/jMPWm.png) because it was such a pain to create a new thread for each game.


On the surface it seems like it shouldnt be too difficult to implement, would you consider adding a feature such as this?

when teh spread moves, simply edit the original. Bets are paid out at the odds that were in place when they were laid

Hi Dartho,

Editing wont work for me, here is why. As you can see in this pic (http://imgur.com/jMPWm.png) the "odds" on our bets are all 1:1. The "spread" is the number you see after the team name (ie Kansas City Chiefs +1). So when the spread changes, the odds dont. It is easy enough for us to just close the betting and make a new event with the new spread. But then we start having many many threads and it can get confusing.

We would also like to start offering books for the Money Line (the traditional odds based betting) and the Over/Under. However if we make one event with the spread, money line, and ovber/under we run into issues when there are pushes on the spread and over/under. Looking at this pic:

If Indianapolis wins the game by exactly 5 points, it is a push. But there is no way for us to push that bet while paying out the winners on the Money line and over/under. I hope that makes sense.

Being able to have multiple events per thread would basically solve all of my issues. If you are willing to add this feature I would love to send a donation your way.

So ultimately you'd want to be able to close 'outcomes', and add new ones? I guess this wouldn't help a push unless you could also abandon individual outcomes also - would you better off having spreads with part points, ie. "New York Giants +5.5" then there would be no refunds to worry about?

Most games do in fact have part points (+5.5 etc) and there is no chance of a push on those games. We take our lines from professional handicappers (www.pinnaclesports.com for the most part), our forum is gambling related and our users take their gambling very seriously, even if it is just for imaginary internet points. So we monitor the lines closely and try to keep them in line with the pros. When the pro handicappers have a "full point" spread our users want to bet on it. I have thought about adding half points to the full number spreads but it will not fly with my users. (Tangent: this hack is extremely popular with my members, we all love it.) I started out just adding a few games and within a week of having it installed my users were requesting money lines, over unders, parlays, college football, etc.

I have thought about the logic of how to solve my issues for several hours and it always comes back to having multiple events per thread. On the surface it seems like it would be relatively easy to make that work, but I must admit I am not a coder and it seems like it is probably harder than I imagine. I can live with just having multiple threads for my needs, but they add up fast. There are 15 NFL games a week, x 3 events per game (Spread, money line, over/under). So just doing the NFL that makes 45 threads. We do about 10 NCAA football games a week so that i s30 more. We have had requests for Champions league soccer and baseball. The NHL starts in a month, as does the NBA and college basketball is not far behind that. That's gonna be a lot of threads.

There are winners that deserve their points, but I can't do anything about it. Is there anyway to "unsettle" the bets so that I can fix the problem. Basically, the bets were settled with no winner chosen.

Sorry - books can't be unsettled - you will need to manually calculate retruns and manually give cash to your users.

Im having a problem settling bets.

It seems that when a certain admin of mine settles bets, he does not get paid on the outcomes. This only happens when this certain admin settles bets, and only h is payouts are affected. Can you think of any reason why this would happen?

yup he won multiple wagers on the book but did not receive the credits for the wins. It seems everyone else received what they were due. He is listed on the results page as being a winner.

I am using vbcredits. Im not sure what you mean about integration. I have it set in the admincp section of vbookie to use vbcredits but I am not using any of the vbcredits addon things they have for vbookie.

busted i guess. i didnt read your terms obv. As you can see on my site I always keep copyrights (or buy branding free) but I have a reason (not an excuse) for removing them on vbookie. Im sure you wont care, but I removed it as I have a forum competing with me that basically rips all my ideas. Theyre a gambling forum too and this was such a success I wanted the competitive advantage. I had always planned on putting the credits back but forgot. Sorry bro.

I'm not really fussed, it's not my product, I just ported it - it's just a bit cheeky to be asking for support whilst removing credit.

Not sure if the original author had a branding free option - contact him and find out, although it wouldn't take anyone with a couple brain cells more than a minute to google and find out what the product is anyway.

This is 100% confirmed as in this admin will post in the thread: "I have x credits before I settle this bet, I should have y credits if it pays me properly." Then he settles the bet and he doesnt get paid. We have made a bunch of dummy events trying to trouble shoot and I cant make heads or tails of it.

OK I just settled a bet that I created a week or so ago. I was the only winner on the event and I did not receive my winnings. So it seems if you create an event you only get paid if someone else settles the bet.

Credits definitely go down when a bet is made, I havent abandoned any events but I will create a dummy event and see.

That is expected behaviour - if there is no winner - everyone loses and the bookie makes a motza. If you wish to return all stakes, you should abandon the event.

When you create a thread look down by where you check the box for a poll. There is an option there to "add book event to thread" (or similar).

It's been awhile since I've messed with it or changed the settings, but I believe there are forum permissions as well that enable/disable the ability to post vbookie events (ex: in "forum permissions" click on the usergroup you want to be able to use vbookie and confirm they have the ability to do so for that specific forum.. I want to say by default they do not but again it's been a few years since I installed it).

Was looking at this thread because I think I'm going to take my site from 4.0.3 to 4.0.8 soon and just wanted to make sure there weren't any issues between vb and this mod (and from the looks it it seems to be working fine for most).

Only issue I have is that randomly one user (random user + random period of time from what I can tell) is getting a TON of vcash (an insane amount) but I also have the gameroom using the vcash so I'm not sure which one is causing that error- has anyone else experienced this? It's totally random and happens once every 4-6 months or so (and has been happening for years).

I am going mad. I followed the install, as above. It's appeared on my menu bar. I can change options in the ACP. I've added the correct usergroup ID and doublechecked all the settings but, people's vcash value is not being shown and I can't create any betting markets either in the ACP/MOD Panel.

Ok, I need some help. I just updated to 4.0.8 Vbull and as most of you know, that ++++ed some of the styles. I'm using one called Darkness that hasn't been updated yet so I've been changing the Stylevar line by line on my test server to figure out what controls what. I'm not very good at this, just doing what I can to make the live site look better. I think I got the home and forum pages looking pretty good but now I'm to the Bookie part of the site. I went though every line on the Stylevar to try to make it look better. I found 2 changes that change every link on the site including the Vbookie stuff. Not really what I want to do. Now I'm looking at the actual code from Vbookie and know I'm way over my head. :D

This is what I have right now. You can see the fighters names are just too light. I'm trying to figure out how to make this darker so it's actually visible.

The stylevar stuff does my head in. I'd probably just edit the vbookie_resultbits and vbookie_outcomebits templates and change the lines of

to

If not, I might have to hard code a few other spots on your mod but might need your help again finding the code if that's ok. This mod is one of the biggest reasons why I switched my site from PHPBB to Vbul.

Any chance we can get a new feature added? I'd like to see a one-on-one betting option. I want to be able to challenge someone to a bet on an event. That person can be alerted of the challenge and then accept or decline.

Additionally, the user can leave a challenge on the table for anyone to accept. (maybe have a link on our sig saying "bet me on the xx event! 50K")

Been working with style creators on the same issue. If a style uses additional.css it doesn't display right with a few addons

Fix:

Since version 4.0.1, there has been an additional template variable call (to grab additional.css) in the HEAD.

Please add the following:

{vb:raw headinclude_bottom}

Before </head> in your template and you're all set.

This is a very popular little item, I definitely need to contribute some support to the developer!

I have two small suggestions:

(1) Is there a way to have a "leaderboard" ? a way to quickly list the top10/20 users as far as vCash? IE "Most Successful this weekend" ? That would be a big hit.

And

(2) I've ran into one snag: an admin test, create an event and then deleted the thread; but the "event" stays within the vBookie console, and we can't delete, close or edit it :(

An overall leaderboard would pretty easy, and the stats page altready shows top 5. Top 20 for a time period may also be possible - but I'd have to have a look first.

As for the orphaned event, I'm not sure how that happened. It has been reported once before so isn;t a regular occurence. Was it the same user that created and deleted the thead?

To remove it, you will need to edit the database.

Do you have access to phpMyAdmin? If so, look in the vbookie_items table for item_id n (check the value of item_id in the links to the event on the vbookie home page) and delete that row.

Ok, I can take care of that. Yes, same user.. a mod was testing the script with vegas odds to see how the payouts worked, and just and an event "X -3 V Y" and then deleted the thread.. but the vbookie event stuck, and you can't go to info/thread on it because they don't exist.

We have a gambling related forum and many of our members fancy themselves amateur bookmakers.

This would be optional on the event settings of course, but if a user could create the event and have to float the bets of others from their own cash.

Then they receive losing bets directly in to their account and have to pay the winners once the event is resolved.

I think this would add just the kind of risk/reward structure many gamblers look for.

After the event has closed and the "payout after " time has elapsed, look back in the event thread and it will tell you its time to settle

MY ISSUE WAS FIXED , my problem was it was only showing on one far left onof my screen. thats because i had to adjust a the padding issue . this TP im using uses padding on the left and right cause of a blue image that runs down the sides to it was causing me issues but once i adjusted the padding it strecthed out , i had alot of help from birdprey5 (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/member.php?u=258922) i will ask him again tomorrow where was the TP edit he made . as for the mod working the wsa its suppose to YES it works fine on 4.1 patch 2 and even now on my updated 4.1.1 hope this helps . im a noob , so dont laugh lol Do you know the tweaks? Just out of curiosity, is there a way to reset/rebuild the stats for a specific thread/vbookie event?

I had another instance of someone somehow getting an insane amount of vcash, so rather than abandon the event I edited his bets down to reasonable levels... Only problem is, the "Total amount staked" for example, doesn't reflect the new/edited values

it's not a big deal if there's no way to update that, just wondering if there's a way to do that...

Sorry, there's no easy way to do this. You'd have to get into the database and manually edit tables/adjust totals. It's the way it was originally written and all I've done is port the existing code over.

Actually - the hooks are there on that page you linked to. Not sure why you are having issues (could be teh apostrophes around 'posts' in the line before the hook), however you can do it manually. Edit your postbit legacy, search for

add
<div class="eti_postbit">
{vb:rawphrase vbookie_cash} : {vb:raw post.vbookie_cash}

Nevermind, I see that you can disable the plugin thread prefixes under this product.

This can allow users to setup a custom prefix to manually choose when setting up vbookie threads. It isn't perfect, but it will work. :)

Why not search through the vbookie.php and the includes/functions_vbookie.php files and also check the plugins associated with vbookie to see if you can track it down? Failing those you could search your database and also grep your files...

You can now use also vBExperience as a cash system.

If you have already vBExperience installed, you just need the plugin for it. Download vBExperience401_20100803.zip and install ZIP\extras\Addons\vBookie.xml as a product. After that choose "Custom" as your "Cash/Points System".

Does anyone have any ideas why the bookie is not getting the money before the game ?

Ok I am starting a game on my site using this I need to be able to do this

1. Each week I post 15 games with lines to bet on users bet vcash on them
2. I want them all in 1 thread not 15 threads

How do you do that? So users can pick and choose between 15 games each week in 1 thread ? If you start with 30 outcomes will that work ? I don't think so.

Basically I need the ability to add as many games with 2 outcomes as I want to ONE thread.

Unless someone knows something I don't, which is probably going to be the case, that is the way to do it.

That is at least the way I have done it in the past.

If you are wanting all your weeks games to be in one thread, just use as many outcomes as you need. You can have multiple winners for each event.

You could probably ask 500 of my members that use it regularly, that is how it worked and I never made any customizations, or anyone else.

I would however pay for someone to do that no problem, as it was much more fun for everyone.

Still loving this mod though!

Bobster is correct, that was never default behaviour. There are instuctions in the 3.5 version thread on how to make this change, but I ran into an issue when having a quick look at it under 4.0, so it is more than a quick job (and not one I can do at the moment).

BTW - I still use vb3.8 and have that same code modification.

I have just got in from work but seen that the switch uses "vcash" instead of "vCash"

Looking over it now hopefully I can get it going

So what happens if the bookie can't afford to pay out?

Edit: I just tried this and the event will still pay out even if the bookies account hits zero. That is open to abuse. How can we stop the event paying out more than the bookie has on hand?

Although vBookie does not have any built-in facility to integrate with any other store hacks, it's a very simple job to hack vBookie itself to integrate it with any store/points system you care to use.

I see vBPlaza / vBux has just been re- released. How would I go about integrating your product with that? Any help appreciated. thanks.

Little problem with this.

When I had the original on vb3 it would give and take money from the bookie.

so whatever the members betted, went into the bookies cash, and if they won they would receive the money from the bookie, if they lost the bookie would keep the cash.

My users liked this as it put an edge on the game - nicking a little from there friends.

Now when they play the money goes no where but they win or lose the amount.

Does anyone have any ideas why the bookie is not getting the money before the game ?

This is the kind of accountability I was hoping to have while using a second currency with vb credits deluxe, I had hoped it would be something that was worked on. I should have been coming here to look for it I suppose. I need to have limits on the betting or keep the bookies money as a bank and discard any use of the credits for bets.

I am having a problem as regards the time setting on vbookie.

It used to work perfectly, but at the moment I am having to put on GMT+1 instead of GNT to get the right time for when I want to close the event.

The time at the bottom of the forum is correct so it doesn't have anything to do with that.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Open your vBulletin database and look at the phrase table.
Find the largest phraseid, then create a new row with a phraseID that's one larger than the largest one so far. The other values are as follows:
languageid : -1
varname : vbookie_exceeded_max_bet
text : You have exceeded the maximum amount of $100 per bet.
phrasetypeid : 1000
product : bookiehack

Obviously, change the $100 max to whatever you want your max to be.

if the threads has been deleted somehow withiut deleting the event, you will need to manually remove it from your database (search vbookie_items table on the threadid)

Hi Derek, it wasn't that you hadnt clicked 'Mark As Installed' so much so as hadn't even downloaded it (as 'Coder' of this thread - I can see which people who post in this thread have downloaded the mod) - which usually means you obtained the mod from a pirate site which usually means you aren't licensed. I can now see you have since downloaded so I know this is not the case (although you still aren't showing as 'Marked as Installed')

I have a very unusual problem, which you probably cannot help me with, but I'll see if you can.

There is an event which just won't go away. It had been on for ages and ages when it was already settled. It doesn't direct to a particular thread. I'm thinking this might be because the thread was deleted, before the event was settled. Am I right?

Just one simple question, where can I edit the template for the bet info? Eg:

I want to change that odds column where it says (1.10) and (0.83) to $2.10 and $1.83, which I'm correct in saying would be the actual return, wouldn't it? Just to make it a bit simpler for the less seasoned gamblers to use. Should be easy enough, whack in a $ and add one to the numbers, I assume?

edit the vBookie: Show Events in Showthread plugin, search for

replace with

then edit the vbookie_outcomebits_nobet and vbookie_outcomebits temapltes and search for

and change to
