I believe the issue was that PM attachments completely bypass any usergroup attachment limits, so you could be uploading GBs of files without the admins knowing.

This doesn't seem to work i'm trying to test and in pm theres no section for attachments and ive set up the permisson to yes on users admin and mod and in adminpanel ,vboption theres no other pm attachment option im running latest 3.8.4 vBulletin so not sure if i missed it something here.

I don't get the error anymore, but the option to attach is not showing when I want to PM. Checked the rights under Usergroups.

ok that part was on no then did that set to yes to users and admins and when you go to pm it still wont show the attachment part on all 3 themes which includes the default theme.

Any solution on resolving this issue? I'm having the same issue with the attachment option not showing up while composing a PM. The usergroup permissions are enabled. I've also tested this with another member of my community after manually changing the "Can recieve PM Attachments" and "Can send PM Attachments" from No ---> Yes in his profile...still no luck.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

No way to get it worked under 3.84! I was just curios to see how the differences between this AddOn and this AddOn Private Messages Attachments (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=127113). I recommend to install Stoebi's Private Messages Attachments (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=127113) because this one works great till today ;)

I set usergroup to yes and individual test users to yes, I was able to upload attachment, but it appears the attachment isn't being sent with the message. Any ideas?

Assuming I can get this to work, how do you enable most users to be able to use the feature? I don't want to go user by user and click yes. Not sure why there is a separate user permissions option rather than just have usergroup permissions.

That's nice but I'm not 100% sure yet as I've not been able to look further because I'm actually busy doing other things.

I just installed this modification today.

Install seems to have gone properly.

When I go to "User Manager" and add the permissions to a user group to "Yes" it doesn't give the individuals in the group the ability to use the mod.

I have to go to the individual user and turn it on in their profile.

With 9000 members on my site I can't go to each user and turn it on.

How do I make it happen using the usergroups?

I never said I'm going to "port" this one to vb4. I said I would write a vb4 mod that does exactly the same thing.

Porting this mod to vb4 is actually the same as doing a new mod as nothing of this code is usable in vb4.

I have just installed this and set the appropriate settings in each usergroup.

For example, I have set "Registered Users" to be able to receive, but not send and a premium usergroup allows them to be able to send and receive pm attachments.

Unfortunately, these settings are not automatically applied to the users and the only way I can get this to work is to change the settings for each user individually. With 10000 members, that is not an easy option. Sure, I could probably automate that in SQL, but am not sure what the command would be.

Reading though the posts, I can see that some people here have got this to work so I would appreciate some guidance here. In phpmyadmin, I have found the pm_attachments field in the forum_user database. What is the command I have to enter into the SQL window to automatically set the pm_attachments to 3 for selected usergroups?

I read here someone quoting: update user set pm_attachments = 3 where usergroupid in(2,5,6,7);

Could I simply run this command to update all users:

update 'forum_user' set 'pm_attachments' = 3 where usergroupid in(2,5,6,7);

Would this work, or am I missing something. It would be much better if the software would work as advertised and simply apply the setting according to the Usergroup without having to manually update each user.

I hope someone can assist me here.

Don't bother, I have just uninstalled this mod and installed this mod instead (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=127113). That one works properly.
