Info:
Easily check if the same or similar thread already exist when you are going to create new one.


Installation:
1. Import XML file (as product): AdminCP > Plugin System > Manage Products > [Add/Import Product]
2. OPTIONAL: If button is not shown, open 'newthread' template and add '{vb:raw vsacheckifposted}' after:
maxlength="{vb:raw vboptions.titlemaxchars}" tabindex="1" />

To set options:
Go to: AdminCP > vBulletin Options > VSa - Check If Already Posted

v1.0 - May 18. 2006.
-Initial Release
v1.6 - May 03. 2008.
-Latest 3.x version
v2.0 - Jan 17. 2010.
-Updated for vBulletin 4.x
-Mod prefix (Cyb) changed to 'VSa'

Great mod, there was another on 3.8.x that shows you the actual posts as soon as you finished entering the title but this is really good and we were lacking something like that since the vb4 migration.

On the crackberry forums there is a mod that just automatically shows if there are similar threads. Could this add on be configured in a way that allows a box like this to be populated?

show it directly it's better... the users are a "bored animal" and they don't click on a butto to check if it's already posted...

Ok, the updated version now works on 4.0.2
But I do agree, in the above post is really good, I have that installed on my 3.8.4 version, there's no need to click any button with it, when you go to type in the Message box it will auto find any new Threads.

Any way to modify this so that it creates a drop down box under the subject bar automatically when tabbing between fields, rather than a pop up box (like the "Similar threads ajax"). I'm finding that members have a tendency to "not see" the button or feel like clicking it.

You may need to rebuild search index.

This uses vBulletin's Search system, so add-on can not be responsible if something is not found.

It may be wrong search options or missing indexes.

On some forums I use, when you start typing a new thread it brings up a list in 'real time' below where I am typing with previous threads that match what you are typing, this works a little like the new Google instant search.

4.1.5 seems to be ignoring that forums should be excluded. Also it doesn't want to search the current forum only.

Good product though. Might be compatibility issues.

Valter, your mod uses standard search output, but could you somehow make it use custom search output? For example, if you could set some global variable, and then check for it's state in search_resultlist template, leaving only search results, without unnecessary header, navbar, footer etc.

On the server we use, words with three or fewer characters are ignored by the search engine, but vB can still find short tags. This mod would become even more useful if it - if no threads were found - would search in tags as well.

I just installed it on 4.2.2 and it works flawlessly. This will be very useful for my members to avoid creating duplicate threads over and over again and it will keep the information consolidated in one place.
