Getting lots of spam...please advise

So I've been getting crazy amounts of spam as of lately and I think it may be because my forum needs to be updated. If I update my forum, does that mean I'll lose everything? Just making sure.

Try these mods I don't get spammed at all. Assuming that you are running vb 4.0 released or higher.

That should do it if set right and not human.

Tweak your registration settings.

admincp>options>user registration options
I set mine to moderate new members so I have more control over who actually ends up a member

also/or:

admincp>human verification manager
your best bet is Question & Answer Verification
Bots have the ability to "read" re-capcha these days

Agree. Simply go to Q&A. So far, any question at all will stop them cold.
