View Full Version : Miscellaneous Hacks - List Reported Items
Paul M
01-14-2010, 10:00 PM
As of 23 Nov 2017 this modification has been withdrawn.
This is something we have been using for the last few years on Cable Forum, it displays a list of reported posts and reported private messages - for both staff and members to see.
The list shows ;
Reported Date/Time
Reporter (Staff Only)
Thread Title
Post Number
Actioned Date/Time
Moderator Who Actioned.
Warning: For this system to work you must have vbulletin set-up to create a new thread for each report. Installing this will disable the e-mail reporting, so until you have a report forum set, reporting will be disabled.
On the reported posts page members can click on the Actioned Moderator name to see any comment left by the moderator.
A report is considered as actioned by the first staff member to reply in the report thread. The comments are read from that first post (by default it reads anything inside quote tags).
Staff can click on the reporter to be taken directly to the report thread.
Staff Usergroups are defined in the mods settings - also the number of days to show reports for is defined in the settings.
If enabled, this will also add a link to your Quick Links or Community Links. There is also an option to prefix the link path if you use something like CMPS.
This will only list reported posts and private message's.

installed but Link is not work correct...mod make link like that http://www.domain.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=4442344#post4442344
but correct link must be like this http://www.domain.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?59082&p=4441779#post4441779
For this reason when u clikc the link, it goes only first post, not the reported post

To make this modification work, you MUST have reporting set to create a new thread in a specified reported posts forum, doing this removes the need to enable emailing. Are you sure you set this up correctly ?
is it possible to send a notify/pm to the moderators? so they can know that there is a reported post!
Nope, nor is it necessary, they can see them both in the specified forum, or by viewing this list.
and how can i make the reported post list between the reporter and moderators? so it will list the reposters that he/she sent and our actioned.
Sorry, I dont understand the question.

More to the point is were to find the setup for vbulletin to create a thread for each report.
Never mind I'm retarded and need sleep.

I use this modification: Auto-solve report threads (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=191408&highlight=solve+reported+posts) to solve reported posts. This means that solved reports are in a separate forum. Can I use the 'list reported items' modification with this?

It will not pickup "solved" reports if they are in a different forum.

Ok. I will try to explain it.
In my picture i have field ITEM. On your picture, you have field POST. At my in box ITEM i don't have link to the reported post. In your's you have a link to the reported post.

Given that your forum is not English, you have most likely customised the phrases that create the threads (or loaded a language that customizes them). To get the post details, the mod has to extract the information from the first post, in your case it is unable to find what it is looking for.

Hi Paul,
In the details pop out box, I will like to show the reason why a post is reported. I have managed to create the row but need the correct syntax for cdata. can you help?
Here's what I have at the moment $cname = 'Reason for reporting';
$cdata = $reportinfo[reason];
$template_post->register('cname',$cname);
$template_post->register('cdata',$cdata);
$reportedpost .= $template_post->render();
I have attached a screenshot of where I'm headed
Also, Is there a way to highlight reported posts in the forum? I know this is beyond the scope of your fantastic product, but just wondering.
Paul M
07-05-2010, 05:04 PM
Im afraid its not that simple - you would need to write a function to extract the reason text from the entire post text - somewhat similar to how the rplgetreply() function works - then store that in the array as its built - and finally output it like the other elements.
There is no way to highlight reported posts, but it would not be too hard as every post stores its report threadid, so you just need to see if the post has one.

I have this set for usergroups 5,6,7 to be able to view this mod under "Community Links" ...
However, standard registered users under usergroup 2 can see it as well? :confused:
Am I misunderstanding something about what the "Comma seperated list of user groups allowed to see 'who reported' link to the report thread." option means?
Thanks .. :)

That permission controls whether you can see who reported each post in the list.
The link to dsiplay the list is available to everyone.

Just one thing to clarify:
Installing this will disable the e-mail reporting, so until you have a report forum set, reporting will be disabled.
This mod disables email reporting, but you can turn it back on and email reporting works after that.

We upgraded to 4.1.3 and have found that this mod has stopped working .. :confused:
I just noticed that a post was reported by an Admin and it doesn't show up in the list?
In fact, no posts reported in the past 14 days are shown.
Has something changed we are missing?
Thanks ... :)

I agree.. I would have thought someone else with 4.1.3 would have reported a problem if there was one.
Have a great holiday ... :up:
I'll do some more checking and see if I've screwed up anything, but it's a pretty straight foward install, however, give me a coffee break and you have to re-train me. :D

Doug

Is there anyway to use this on MySQL Version : 4.1.22-standard ?
I changed 1 number in the xml file but couldn't get it working when i went to the page, it gave me a DB error.
Paul M

No.
You obviously edited or removed the XML dependency, otherwise you could not have installed this.
As you have now found out, its not there just for the fun of it. This wont run on mysql4.

There is no relationship between the version of mysql and text colour, so not sure what thats about. There is no option to change the text colour, you would need to edit the template or css.

when multiple users report the same thread/post it automatically merges with the current one and is automatically set to "solved".

Actually, this mod is made in that way that whenever there is one (or more) posts in created thread, thread is marked as solved.
So, if anyone report it, or post in it, for this mod this issue is solved.
This is how this mod operates.

I can't really understand what this does exactly.
Do I create a forum for it to be able to create threads where users post their concerns and only they and staff can see the thread?
Anyone else looking can see threads they created or else it's just an empty forum, from what they can see?

[EDIT] Solved my first problem. I wasn't looking at the right settings pane. My reported items now list who reported them.
However I'm not sure why, when an item has been actioned, the message "No Reply Yet" is always displayed in the comment area. Any idea Paul?

As the main post says ;
A report is considered as actioned by the first staff member to reply in the report thread. The comments are read from that first post (by default it reads anything inside quote tags).
