Replacing current forum icons

I searched but still cant figure it out. can you guys please give me a step by step on how to replace the current forum icons to custom gif picture, ect. i'm running vB 4.0

if you want to change to gif, you need to edit forumhome templates.
Just use PNG its much better and replace the exisitng one.

Or you can use replacement manager and make ur png's to gif's
