Being able to tag members

Does anyone know of a modification that allows you to tag other members in thread titles or in posts/threads.. much the same as using @username on facebook works, the other member would get a notification that they should check that thread?

I think this would make for good interaction between members..

If its not available, would anyone be willing to take a crack at it?
