This is a proposal to remove the theme ratings on vbulletin.org in the Styles section. Maybe the recent theme I created is bad, but in my opinion it's alot better than many of the current themes available for free out there with better star ratings

Reason:
Seeing a low rated theme prevents people from looking at your theme even before they open the thread. I have a theory where competing style makers give low ratings to opposing theme creators thus making new themes look bad on first impression to the average person looking for a theme so that nobody downloads the new ones and ppl keep download theres.

Take mine for example, "Elegeant Red (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=231807)" has a rating of 2 stars, where as some themes, not saying any names, have 4 star ratings and the theme isn't even nice looking... This is all opinion...but maybe theres some truth in this.

I be honest I always thought the whole rating system like that should have been completely removed from the site. In no way is it accurate in most cases.

While I agree that there is potential for abuse of the star system, I honestly don't think I'd give any style that made my eyes sting like that red one's body text does, anything more than 3 stars.

It could be a nice style, the colours are a tad harsh for my eyes anyway.

Thanks for the input. I have made it less stingy. I still think the rating system should be removed. People need to test it for themselves and it should be purely based on installs : downloads

I never look at ratings. I take a look at the demos and see if I like them myself simply because styles are very subjective.

Agreed. I think there is truth to star ratings over time.
