What this mod does

It adds a sliding sidebar (see vBulletin 4, http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/) on the front page of your vBulletin 3.7.x ? 3.8.x forum.

Fully phrased to allow language translation
Option to have displayed the latest posts containing attachments
Option to have displayed the latest slideshows threads created (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=230476)
Option to have displayed the latest albums photo created
Option to have displayed the latest blog entries

Option to have displayed the latest social groups created
Option to have displayed the latest polls created

Few corrections made for those having php5.

Installation instructions - Version 1.20.


Un-install any previous version product file xml
Uncompress the archive
Upload the content of the "upload" folder into your forum root/main directory
Import the "product_vb4sidebar.xml" product via your ACP:
ACP -> Plugins & Products -> Manage Product -> Add/Import Product
Adjust the mod settings as you see fit.
ACP -> vBulletin Options -> vBulletin Options -> vBulletin 4 Sidebar Option
Save the specified settings.

Works well, except there is no option to exclude my RSS forums posts from latest threads. I have them excluded everywhere else, because it drives some of my users buggy. I don't think I can use it if I can't exclude forums from latest threads. I would rather have latest posts than threads.

The displaying of latest threads takes into account the forums permissions as you have defined them.

also can you make it select an image if someone does not have an avatar as it just shows a red x if someone does not have a avatar selected...maybe i may just make it so everyone has a default avatar....

also to add, as above can you make it so you have an option to have it on perminently ? select to have an option of colapse ?

You can edit the colors in the css files.

Drop the content of the "image" folder in your style "image" folder. The mod has already a nosidebaravatar.png included to take into account those users without avatars specified.

Option for collapse/expanded will be added in an upgraded version.

Additional options on the "Cumulus Tag Cloud" will also be added

Open the product file "product_vb4sidebar.xml", and scroll down to the plugins section. In the "cache_templates" plugin, replace:

by:

dear sir,
when i activate the attachment block gives me an database error
SELECT title FROM thread WHERE threadid =;
i think this problem beacuse the side bar trying to fetch a thread id of an non thread attachment.

For example:
When some upload attachment but without submitting the thread , the product gives a database error because its not able to find the relevant thread

Do you have any idea ??

Yes. There is no database involved. Just upload, allow overwrite. Check the options in the ACP.

tried this and still no avater selected, i had to change the users avatar vid admin and that worked so a test

when i click properties on the red x is has my full url, then my url to the image

I would just like to thank Data (J98680B2423E) here for all his help. He spent hours on my forum to help me set this up! This guy never gave up!! He fixed all the issues I had, and this mod now works 100%. It is a great add-on to my forum, and I love it!! Thanks again!!

ok i figured out how to make it open by default
first i edited
vb4sidebar_template
and removed this: (to remove the image button)
<a id="sidebar_button_link" href="#"><img id="sidebar_button" src="$stylevar[imgdir_misc]/tab-expanded.png" alt=""></a>

then i edited vbulletin-sidebar.js (its inside the clientscript/sidebar/ folder)
commented out this line:
// YAHOO.util.Event.on(this.sidebar_button, "click", this.toggle_collapse, this, true);
above it, i put:
this.expand();



i am sure this isnt the best way to do it, but it works

I have just added an attachment with additional images for the "Latest Posts" and "Newest Members" blocks.

Of course, the designers can put on more images for specific styles. :up:

In rewriting the code for handling the tag cloud, I forgot to add a call to the standard vb tag.php function. It has been fixed and an updated version (v1.21) has been posted.
