Extended Reputation Display

As of 23 Nov 2017 this modification has been withdrawn.

This hack extends the existing reputation display system from just the light/dark green pips to green and golden pips, and then a series of bronze, silver and gold stars as the pips limit is reached.

The dark green pips are followed by light green pips, which are then followed by gold pips.

When the limit these can display is reached, the (prefix) display of stars begins - starting with the bronze stars, then the silver stars and finally the gold Stars. If your reputation is zero then the neutral grey pip is displayed. Negative reputations are displayed in a similar manner using light and dark red pips and red stars - however, there is only one star level for negative reputation.

Each time you 'lap' the limit of the pips display, another star is added. The number of each star is limited by an ACP option (by default, 5 bronze = 1 silver, and 5 silver = 1 gold). The number and value of the pips in each group of pips is defined by six settings.

A line break can be inserted after the stars. The extended display system can be enabled/disabled in the options.

All options are in ACP > Options > Extended Reputation

To install just download and unzip the files and follow the instructions in the text file.

Good hack. But it keeps on adding images with the values. Don't it replace existing image?
Say if dark green image has a value of 100 reps and the count is set to 4, Light green has a value of 200 and the count is set to 4, this means up to 400 reps, it will display 4 dark green image and 4 dark + 1 light green for reps between 401-600.

I am looking for a replacement of images. Have a example :
If dark green image has a value of 100 reps and the count is set to 4, Light green has a value of 500 and the count is set to 4.
As per this, my images should be replaced by a light green image when reps reaches 500.

Is this possible with this hack? Or is there any other hack for the same?

Here's the changes you need to make to get them back.

I altered the plugins and templates slightly to allow for displaying the alternate text, would you like the changes to incorporate into the mod?

If not can I post my changes in the thread for the mod so that others can use them if they want?

Changed postbit_reputation_erd to match the default postbit_reputation (I'm not sure if this negates the need for the custom template or not?), namely the alt tag.

I noticed in the image above that there is a white space between the stars and the top of the border box.

Obviously you cant see it in default (ie not using the div class)

I have been playing around with your great MOD trying to work out what has happened. There is appears to be a "ghost" <br> which causes my images to drop down:

I think this hack is what I'm searching but I'm not really sur, does the "stars" replace the usual dot or are they just "poping" ?
This is an exemple of what I'm searching to do :

The stars are just a higher level. in total you can use 6 images in my example above you see 4 of the images green 60 purple360 gold1802 and then the first (star)dragon 11111
My example the colors are used 5 times and the stars 3 times you will have to work out the size and value of your custom images to fit as you like but this should do what you are asking.

This seems to work fine on 4.1.7, at least for me.

However, I noticed this mod ignores the various reputation levels set in the main reputation options (instead setting the reputation image alt text to "Reputation"), yet I saw code in one plugin that referenced the undefined level. Is this intended?

Quite honestly, I really dont get why anyone would split it in the non legacy postbit - it just adds a whole unnecessary line to the data area. However, Ive updated it to work in both. Just upgrade to 4.1.8.1.

Hi paul, i'm using the default style on my forum. When i submit a new post or thread the stars and the reputation are in the same line, but when i hit refresh it fixes the bug.

On the private messages the stars and the reputation is not fixed. both are in the same even if you refresh the side.

I just installed this and it works great on 4.1.10, I changed the images from gif to png ones that I made, I included the PSD for the images as well if you want to change them at all, I also changed the xml code to png instead of gif so if you want to use png just uninstall the old one and install this one, it was just the one gif word that needed changing everything else is the same.

Just had the time to dig in an fix this but I quickly noticed that a single pip is served for each level of increasing rep... what a terrible way to code! Now when a user reaches level 11 there are 10 extra http requests for that one user. This could mean hundreds of extra http requests per page depending on your users and their rep, very inefficient.

Pulling one image and having an image for each potential case would create a much lighter load. Even better... create the pips with html and css so there are no additional http requests.

In vB4.2.X, the line break does not function for horizontal postbit, but does for legacy. Latest version of this hack is installed, we want to run the horiz. postbit but want the line break.

Any ideas? I back-read this entire thread and saw this problem crop up and saw you fix it, for earlier versions.

Find each image IE: reputation_green, reputation_greenh, reputation_red etc, etc,
and then take your own iamges and rename them exactly the same as the ones in the folder including the extension name, then either rename the old images or delete them.

I' am using the postbit layout w/vBulletin 4.2.1.
Problem: The reputation images align to the left, under the user's info and there's no break between pips and stars.
I' am wanting the images to align on the right side under the user's point tallies:

Example:

When the divide does occur between the stars and pips it looks something like this:

I copied and pasted the default script's reputation code (from the left onto the right bottom of user info column) after the rep points code, but the alignment is off and the images will not go break after the stars.

In vB4.2.X, the line break does not function for horizontal postbit, but does for legacy. Latest version of this hack is installed, we want to run the horiz. postbit but want the line break.

Any ideas? I back-read this entire thread and saw this problem crop up and saw you fix it, for earlier versions.

Is there a fix needed for the latest version?

If i understood well, i am facing the same problem.

On the threads/posts, Pips and Stars are fine, since the "Newline Setting" separates these.

On the user's profile and the PMs the "Newline Setting" is not working and it doesn't look nice :(

Oh, I guess I didnt read all your message properly.

The previous bug to which you referred was to do with the horizontal postbit, not private messages or the user profile.
The private messages would be a bug (one that no one else has ever mentioned). The user profile is by design.

Due to the way the user profile works, it ignores newlines, and getting round that would require some css tricks which is just not practical for me to spend time on.

I have a fix for Profile and PM's

Step 1. Edit Template custom_erd.css and replace all CSS code.

This mod only works where reputation show's and i think reputation only show up in postbit, user profiles, memberlist (if enabled in VB options) and pm's. I don't think the pips show's in reputation given.

I have this installed and its working great. On my frontpage I am using vBadvanced CMS and in the welcome block I am having a problem with the stars not being above the pips.
