I upgraded tp vBulletin 4.0 last night, and in less than 18 hours I had 100+ new users sign up. Everyone of them was a spam account. I have verify email turned on, and all that comes with 4.0... but it doesn't stop the spam account.

With 3.8 I used Cyb - Advanced Registration (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=201287) and it killed all the spam accounts, I would get 1 or 2 every couple of months. Is there anything close to this for 4.0? Any help for stopping all these spam accounts? I do ban the email address when they sign up, but that list is getting large and doesn't seem to help.

I really need something lol

Hello... is this thing on?

Over 150 spam accounts now created, its really getting out of hand. I spend more time deliting account than I do reading my forum posts.... any have any suggestions? (disabling the registration isn't an option)

Is there anyway to stop the spam account from signing up other than shutting off the registration? How about some help here?

Maybe try changing your Captcha method to ReCaptcha? at least that way bots would be prevented from creating the accounts...

Have you tried adding a profile question?I've seen boards with reCaptcha AND a question like "whats 3 +7 " I thought I read that would do it -- haven't tried yet. Cyb -- hope the upgrade soon. Nice solution

i switched from reCaptcha
and started using random questions such as 1+1 or one plus one
and spambots went from 7 a week to 0 since early december.

ofcourse i also got email verificaiton on.
and those (10minutte mail accounts) dont seem to register since my webhost
is shit, and registration mails take often up to 25mins to arrive.
howewer a lostpasword mail is instant.. weird.. but wth its working :D

This is a proven method, I now get zero spambots and spammers and also I check the ip with their database before accepting registration:

People who join my forum are only people we know personally. Its not a huge forum (about 70 members), so I don't need something to scan everyone who signs up. Though i do use that site to report the name/ip if the spam accounts.

I just needed something to stop the spam account, I have switched to Question & Answer Verification. rechaptcha didn't help much.
