This add on for AME3 (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=230707) will allow you to spruce the hell out of your member profiles by telling AME3 to parse your members custom profile fields for videos.

You can place videos in 6 different positions in the sidebar
You can place videos in tabs
You can have more than one video in spot
You can randomly select a video to show (by assigning a couple profile fields to a position and choosing the 'random' option)

Note that AMEFY parses pre-set custom profile fields. It requires at urls are stored in a custom profile field. AMEFY will not create the custom field(s) for you. I recommend using a textbox and setting the field to private so it doesnt display the text when people view their profile.

Install: The same as AME really. Upload the contents to forums and import the includes/xml/product-amefy.xml

Quickstart

Install
Create one or more Custom Profile Fields to hold the video URL(s).
Broswe to your AME CP in your Admin CP. There will be a new option called AMEFY. Click it.
Click Add New
Enter the settings (pretty self explanatory).
Edit your profile and enter one or more links into the custom profile field(s) you created and save.
Go behold the beauty of your profile.

Quickfacts

You can have multiple links in a custom profile field. Just make sure that you make the profile field large enough to house a lot of text (multiple line textboxes are good for this)
You can display a random video a couple of ways. Either have multiple profile fields assigned to an AMEFY entry or create a multi line textbox and allow users to enter multiple URLs. AMEFY can then randomly select one of those they entered when their profile is viewed.

Attached are a couple quick examples of configurating profile fields to use with AMEFY

Here is an example of how to create and set up a single AMEFY. First shot is a screenie of the custom profile field, the second is of me setting it up in AMEFY.

Here is an example where I have told AMEFY to combined 2 profile fields into the same group. These will display in their own tab.

Out of the box it will parse all of the sites that your vB4 and/or AME3 will. Saying that, just use the Regular Expression setting of the profile field (i.e. enter 'youtube' into the value to only have youtube URLs in there).

Not sure what you mean. You mean it doesn't seem like AMEFY is saving the entry? Can you attache a screenshot of the entry?

Ive been complaining about this for a month now. we should be rating these products on there abilities to do as described not weather we like the author or dont care for the product. Either way i see the legitimate members have rated it back up. good work and is working perfectly. Installed, rated and nominated.

I occasionally click the buttons too fast and automatically click the left most icon thinking it's the highest in rank, only to realize after I've submitted that's it non-linear. But I sear, it wasn't me....this time... >_>

If it is installed, check the last option in the AME CP menu. Thats where you will find the link to AME'fy CP

FWIW, I just uploaded version 1.0.1

This is a heavy rework of the base code to make it much more lean and mean. Since its such an overhaul, I left version 1.0.0 up just in case - however I really can't see the need for it.

The new code base is much more slick and fast. It also ensures users aren't presented with [video] tags after saving. IMO, much cleaner. Also added a bit more text in the settings area to try and guide you.

Anyhoo, looking forward to your feedback. Personally Im pretty chuffed with how this turned out. Its not just a simple 'stick a video here' mod. You can get pretty creative with it. Will be interesting what we will see when AME3 definitions start to come out :D

I've been looking for a good playlist to do a definition for, but haven't found a decent one yet. Most of Playlist.com is no good outside the US (and it can't really be done with vB4 anyway :( ). Looked up imeem, but thats now myspace and I can't be arsed to set up an account just to do a definition. If you guys have some suggestions, what I need is:

A few URLs as an example of what the user would paste into thier message/profile field
An example of the embed code.

Then Ill sort something out :D

Use the 1-0-1 package. Unzip and upload the contents of the upload_into_forums folder into your forums.
The product file to import is includes/xml/product-amefy.xml
If AME3 is installed and functional, nothing more to do other than configure it. The link to AMEFY will be in your AME CP menu.

Its easier to do the definitions because its more cut and dry. With AME2x you could make almost any site work, however because vB4 is rendering the video with AME3 you can either easily do it, or just plain not :)

in AME3 there aren't parameters, its 'code'.
There is 1 regex to pull the code from the URL or match the URL if you are going to scrape (extract)
There is 1 optional regex to scrape the destination site for the code
The embed code takes 1 parameter: {vb:raw code}

Thats about it. :)

i've the same problem also for registration of new users and it is a big problem.
how can i create any entries? i think that'is really good how product and i do not want to uninstall this .

As I said above and was posted 4 posts above yours... the problem is because there are no entries in the AMEfy yet. I have fixed this for the next version, however all you need to do is set 1 profile field up as per the instructions and the problem goes away.

Otherwise uninstall it.

I have it setup as the last tab, perhaps a nice future feature would be the ability to enter the links directly there instead of editing the profile? Not sure how hard this would be though.

That relies on the embed code of the definition. If you set it to auto play then it will autoplay in your posts too

Good morning all,

Since the upgrade last night ( vb 4.01 ) I cannot see my Video Tab that I created. I set the videos to "Last Tab" but the Tab will not display. I tried other locations and they pop in just fine but the TAB fuction does not display.

Is anyone else having this issue?

I deleted both AME and AME'fy and reinstalled them. Still no go on the Tabs function.

Everything else is working just fine. Maybe it's just me!

Looks like they re-introduced an old bug into 4.0.1 revolving around custom tabs. So if you use AME'fy in tabs (like spongebob above). You will want to view this bug report (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=33873) as it contins the fix.

I really don't think I can explain any more than the post I linked to which outlines step by step how to set this up and even gives 3 different configuration examples.

Set up a User Profile field to hold the URL
Assign AME to it in the AME'fy menu.

Question on the random videos. Do you need anything special between the multiple video links members can add? I am thinking line space, or comma, etc.

I have set it up and the first video shows all the time and not the other two. Added each one with a line break.

One problem though: i've installed AME (working great), add a custom profile field, linked to it in AME'ye, added a full youtube link in a profile... the block is showing, but with (non-clickable) link to the youtube video.

So the link is not parsed (ie no video is shown)

What can be to problem?

Speaking of... @SpongeBob - My youngest child will be excited that you have installed my mod. However I don't know why your tabs wouldn't be working as they worked on 4.0.1 and I havent had any other reports of them not working.

I haven't tested on 4.0.2 and not sure when I will. It scares me.

Does 4.0.2 break this mod? I was thinking of updating today and was looking at all the mods I have installed to see if there were any updates.

I haven't tested on 4.0.2 and not sure when I will. It scares me.

I may as well just uninstall as it seems allot of the authors are giving up on vBulletin and moving to other solutions.

I certainly do NOT want to say that this mod doesn't work....I was merely posting to say I cannot get the TABS to display at all. The sidebar videos work GREAT but I cannot for the life of me get a new tab to display (Last Tab). I have tried every way possible.

I even deleted the mod and re-installed. I love this mod and it worked GREAT before. Now I can't get the TABS to work. (Any TAB)

Any ideas?

The video tab in the profile field never worked for me on 4.01, so I was excited to find out that 4.02 was released with the mentioning of fixed custom tabs. Unfortunately even with 4.02 the video tab doesn't show up. Yikes

I have 4.0.2 and the mod works great in the sidebar in the profile. I haven't tested it on the Tabs yet though in the profile area.

Hi Geek I had a question for you.

Say I wanted to allow users the ability to embed videos in the 6 areas in the sidebar however they wish. So say I titled each link "Video" in the AMEFY control panel, the problem is even if they don't use the video the titles still remains in the sidebar. So if someone didn't use any videos in their profiles, they would still have 6 areas designated "video". Is there any way to get rid of this? Like have the title field only appear if they use the option? I see we can't leave the title blank, so not sure how you can go about this.

Hello Everyone,

The amefy_class.php file needs to be updated with the correct hook for the tab.

Open your editor and under the hook array locate this listing and ensure "tabs" is placed in the last two lines:

Current:

profile_sidebar_first
profile_sidebar_stats
profile_sidebar_friends
profile_sidebar_albums
profile_sidebar_groups
profile_sidebar_last
profile_left_first
profile_left_last

Change to:

profile_sidebar_first
profile_sidebar_stats
profile_sidebar_friends
profile_sidebar_albums
profile_sidebar_groups
profile_sidebar_last
profile_tabs_first
profile_tabs_last

This is what worked for me. Hope this helps someone.

Can you elaborate for the less technically inclined amongst us? Are you saying, when we add the youtube URL (for example purposes), that we have to add this code on the end, as with youtube website itself?

I checked some things and it seems that people are getting these errors when the link they've added to youtube isn't a valid one. Either the clip has been removed or the link is entered wrongly.

Isn't there a way that the filled in links are first validated by the script before they're saved?

Updated to version 1.0.4 to:
1- Address the changed profile tab hooks in vB
2- To not show a box if there is no content (i.e. user hasn't uploaded a video yet)

I can't really set this up to verify the videos. As some have mentioned, some videos are removed from time to time. This means I would have to verify each video each time it was shown and I think that would be far too resource intensive. Plus it simply isn't reliable.

Works great on 4.0.3 and 1.0.4. Only problem is on the video tab I have two links showing on the page for items that also use the tabs - awards and gallery. But other than that it works great..

This is the fix that worked for me. From the AM3 thread:

I have applied for a new hook to be added to take care of the issue in 4.0.3 so hopefully this will only be "broken" for this iteration. If you want to fix, you will need to apply the following file edit:

Note: THIS IS FOR VERSION 4.0.3.

Edit includes/functions_video.php and change:

How did you get the Video tab up there? I can't get that to work? I read through every page and nothing seems to work. I just installed the newest one for the first time. and I can't get that Video tab to show up. Any suggestions?

ACP > AME CP > AMEFY > [edit your profile field] > Look at the bottom : Location (Last Tab or First Tab) ;)

On my 4.1.0 I have this installed and working correctly.

I installed version 1.0.4 of this (including marking upgrade box) and have done it several times but VBulletin control panel keeps reporting the version as 1.0.3.

Any idea why it wouldnt upgrade the version number?
Since the developer has to manually change that number each time he makes a change to a modification, it's probably just a typo.

This is not working on my site. I am running vbulletin 4.1.3. All its showing is a link in the custom video field.

I don't know if this has happen to anyone else but I had a couple of members profiles get destroid after they took off their favorite videos link. We have had this mod since 4.1.1 working good then but once we got to 4.1.4 we have been having the profile problem. Everyone else happen to them?

I finally got the mod to work in the profile and it looks great... I had to shrink the size of it to fit in the side bar but now the size of it got smaller within the forums too.
How do I maintain the size in the forums as big screen but still have it fit in the sidebar in the profile?
Not majorly important but annoying... Thanks...

I change hook location for AME(from: data_preparse_bbcode_video_start to data_parse_bbcode_video), and have this great mod working.
But.. then I open profile page, I have php warning on the top of screen:

Warning: Declaration of vB_ProfileBlock_AMEFY::prepare_output() should be compatible with that of vB_ProfileBlock::prepare_output() in ....\includes\amefy_class.php on line 219

Can anyone help me with solution?

Well..... I think, I found solution)))
In file:
..\includes\amefy_class.php on line 245

replace:
function prepare_output($id, $options)
with:
function prepare_output($id = '', $options = array())

After this, looks like everythings work correctly, and no more PHP-warnings.

One thing steel need to fix, its a size of video thumbs in profile page. Now is ignore settings in admin-panel, and appear in full size,.. just like in posts...
