Personally I would gladly pay for this theme if we could get support. Its a bear to find a theme that is dark, works for a military support organization and isn't too clowny. Used to use Underground from Skinbox until they decided to ++++ all their customers and stop supporting vB. Is there an option of any kind to purchase this theme and get timely support and updates? I will gladly pay for something I know will be around in the future and not leave me hanging like Skinbox did.

@cvondra, if you're looking for a paid skin that does not HAVE to be this one, the developer of this one makes several (Darkness and its more simple BP-Brown are just the free ones).

I've never used one of their paid styles, but they do have the paid ones up-to-date, and they looks sweet as well (of course).

I like it because of the different header area and the border, and modified them to match the theme of my site (http://www.runicgamesfansite.com to see how I modified this skin). Waiting forever for updates because free things go at the bottom of the to-do list is a little aggravating at times.

In the older vb3 there was a issue with the banner.
After searching i found it out that it was better to make it in 3 parts.
Exampel banner1.jpg has 400px, banner2.jpg has 2px and banner3.jpg has 300px.
In that case the banner was showing to all monitors 100% the same.
Is that in this style possible?

This is unfortunately becoming disappointing. I have reached out to these guys offering to pay for updates both on here and via their site with no response either way. Is there anyone out there that does work on themes for vB and is actually dependable? If you know of someone please let me know.

I was wondering if anyone can help me with the navbar.
if you go to www.sorrynoobs.com/board and look at the navbar, you can see that it does not move as it should i guess. If you open it, and make the window smaller, the buttons all move, go behind the search box and even down below where the navbar should be. I guess I'm making it hard to explain, easiest way to show you is to have you look at it. here is some screen shots. As you can see in image1, the navbar is fine so long as you have it maximized. In image2, you can see that if you make the window smaller, the navbar goes haywire.

No problem mate, i decided to start saving my skins with the version number 4.1.2, 4.1.3 etc instead of 1.0, 1.1 so that users are able to download which version they need easier.

I just purchased VB a few days ago and was pretty intimidated. Then i started looking into customizing the forum and found this one.. and even for a noob like me it worked VERY easy

I installed in all in less than 2 minutes... everything seems to be working great.

One question i have is i am not a fan of the dark green on the area where the threads are. Is there a way to change that to white and make the text black?

Everything else can stay the same...I just want the area where the threads are and if/when your reading a post.. all with the white BG and blk text

Ok, I'm breaking down and asking. I've done a lot with this style, been using it for over a year now and I love it. But I have NEVER be able to get my banner to work with IE. It looks great in FF and Chrome but I can't ever get it to show up in IE. I thought I was onto something today and thought about replacing the bluepearl-design-logo.png with my logo but then checked the Demo for IE and that's not what was done. I'm feeling like a bit of an idiot on this cause I can't fix it. I keep reading the notes on the first post about IE and the borders and this part <!--[if IE]> but I'm being thick as hell with this one and it's not making any sense to me. I spent the time today and read over ever post and found some similar questions but I'm being dense I guess cause I'm just not getting it.

The site is MMACrypt.com (http://mmacrypt.com/forum/forum.php)and looks great in FF but no banner logo with IE.

Ok, I went ahead and kicked myself in the head and started looking at the code again. then stuck my head in the oven but it's electric so I only got hot instead and not high but that seemed to be enough to help me "get it"

And just incase some poor stupid sucker like myself comes along, here's the solution or at least what worked for me.

In FF, I'm using a banner.jpg file but the code for IE required a png file so I also created a banner.png and now it's working fine in IE. Wow that was an arse kicker for me.

Thanks guys, I'm mostly a FF guy but I didn't notice it until the latest upgrade to IE, not sure if I was 7 before but now I'm 8.0.6 on the XP machine. I will dig in more by Monday at the latest.

But here's what I've noticed.
Darkness has the bars
Default does not.
Call2Duty does.
BP Brown does not

Both Call and Brown are way not updated as I don't think anybody uses them, Darkness is the heart of my site. But I'm not sure if anybody else has the same issue yet. I will post asking for some input on what people are seeing after this next UFC event this sat.

I seem to have a problem with the login section at the top of the page, but only on CMS. It works fine on Forum and Blog, but on CMS the Remember box is below the username and password boxes. I'ts almost like there's a line break, but my knowledge of vBulletin templates and coding is apparently insufficient to track down the issue. Any suggestions?

just got a complaint that the advanced editing no longer works. I tested the default style and it seems fine but not working in darkness. I need to run today so I didn't look real deep but curious if anybody else has this issue. I will dig more into it later and hopefully provide more info on it.

Ok, a little more digging before I leave for the day. I opened the advanced editing in the default style and copy the URL - http://mmacrypt.com/forum/editpost.php?do=updatepost&postid=115033

then switch over to Darkness to and paste the URL just to see if it's a button issue and notta, I get blank screen. I hope that give you a little ammo buddy.

The forum sidebar? a mod can be found called sidebar everywhere that does this.

Seems like your header template has not been updated.

Find: {vb:rawphrase control_panel} and replace with: {vb:rawphrase user_control_panel} Otherwise you will not see the settings button in the user menu.

Also, there are a few plugins that screw up this style. With the original vB4 skin, there isn't this problem. With ibProArcade, it screws up the .css files, and with some of the vSA (Valter's Mods), in this case, Advanced Registration, the .css also gets screwed up.

That's because of the imagevars. Just go into your Stylevars and point the images to the directory/path that they are in.

Weird. Try Firebug, find the img path, then check through your style vars to see if you have a similar path. I can't help you past this point.

This is not a template problem but the size of your banner.

In your additonal.css template you need to modify this:

To something like this:

The borders don't show in IE either because unfortunately Interent Explorer does not support CSS borders :(

First off let me say, I love this style. After a long absence of my forums we brought them back and upgraded to 4.1.5, I updated the style but one problem. This is what my editor looks like, both in "Quick Post" as well as "Post New Thread" options....

Since you have no Mobile Style, you need to set AdminCP > Settings > Options > Style & Language Settings > Default Style for Modern/Old Mobile Browsers to None, not to your actual style. None means to use your default.

Because there was a new style editor released a lot of the editor CSS changed. So you will need to compare your old additional.css with the new one, even replace as this will be easier.

What you do is upload the blog and CMS XML files and click the 'merge into' from the drop down box.

I just want to mention that attempting to merge the CMS and blog files into my theme completely killed the CMS section :P The sidebar now takes up most of the page and the actual article previews take up only a very small amount. It looks like when I merged it completely changed all the width and margin values, so now I have to go in and fix them all. Fortunately this is still just on my test domain.

The picture with the ugly red "test domain" background is my test domain, after attempting to merge the blog and cms style files into the theme. Yup, I did some more testing over the last couple days, and even without my customizations (those are in a sub-theme anyways) and a fresh install of just the Darkness theme, importing the CMS' xml file always has the same result.

Also, I just checked my template notifications and the only warnings I get on the site are for the outdated (and untouched since upgrading) 4.1.4 styles.

I ended up exporting my own customized version and importing it to a new sub-style of a fresh install of Darkness without the CMS merged into it.

Have you been able to duplicate this? If it helps, the order I tested was a fresh Darkness install, then merging in the blog's xml file, and then merged in the cms' xml file. I managed to get the weird template thing to happen four times when I tried this.

I just double checked, and yes, it does it on my test board even if I I don't import my sub-style. I just imported a fresh Darkness theme (minus my customized images), and then right after that merged the CMS file and it broke again. Extra note: I should mention that my style looks fine in the CMS without importing the extra file though. Is there something I'd be missing if I don't import it?

Ads have always worked for me in all versions. Are you sure you have the right criteria chosen to view the ad?

This release has many bug fixes so I suggest updating to it.

In 4.1.8 the editor is now styled using the stylevars, so all custom css in the editor.css and editor_contents.css templates have been reverted.

If you use the CMS you need to upload all 3 XML files. Follow his instructions in the text file. After the style is installed and the darkness.xml is uploaded do the next two (CMS and Blog). Make sure you select Darkness under 'Merge Into Style' in the Download/Upload Styles section.

Just going to try to attach some screenshots to show what happened. The picture with the ugly red "test domain" background is my test domain, after attempting to merge the blog and cms style files into the theme. The clean background is my live site still running 4.1.4, and this is what the 4.1.7 theme's layout looked like before the merge.

I get this same result on my test board with my custom grids only. Default grids are fine.

Where do I import the XML's for the Blog and CMS? It's stumping me. I run 4.1.8 and have hte 4.1.8 skin on my forum, but for some reason user profiles still show up a little strange with blue-colored text links and hard-to-read portions of the site. I'm hoping installing the blog/CMS things will fix them.

open the image in a new tab and you will know where it is, just make a new logo with the same name and file-extension and overwrite it.

How can i fix this and possibly slighly lighten the background so its a tad easier on the eyes with the colors like red and green on our site.

I found the issue, its in the "navbar_tab_size" StyleVars it isn't set to "px" it's blank

I changed it to "px" and that fixed it

I tried to change the color for all the navbar link colors and still the same thing. Maybe the style author can shed some light on how to fix the font color issue for this style?

Did you have upload the style and the 3x XML again?
And overwrite the three XML to the right style?

Updated to work with vBulletin 4.1.10

There are some rather large problems with this skin in Internet Explorer (both 32 and 64 bit).

- The login in the top login bar does not work. It shows a plaintext password instead of a hashed one.
- Posting does not work. When you try to post a thread or a response to a thread, it states that your "message is too short" and then removes the text for the title and body boxes.

Those are the main two issues that my members are having at this point.

We are running 4.1.10.

Only thing I can think off is that a plugin or modication is effecting the upload. try disabling plugins before installing the skin
