Flashchat 6 Integration with vBulletin 4.x.x
Flashchat 4 & Flashchat 5 are not supported by this Integration.

vBulletin 4.0.1 broke the automatic login of vb members into Flashchat, this is fixed in mod version 4.0.5 onwards.

Note:
Standard Flashchat includes vBulletin integration as part of the Tufat supplied files. However, the standard integration does not include Direct Usergroup Integration or other extra's like the WOL Display & Flashchat on a vBulletin page. This Modification adds those features

Extra's added by this modification

* Direct login to a room.
* The WOL will correctly display Flashchat as the location (not 'Unknown Location')
* Flashchat can be displayed embedded inside a 'standard' vBulletin Page (i.e. not full screen).
* Direct Usergroup Integration - a section is added to each usergroup in the ACP Usergroup Manager to set the Flashchat permissions for that group.
* The plugin will automatically add a link to Flashchat in your Navbar Quick Links or Community Links - this feature can be disabled if you wish.
* The automatic link can have a prefix path defined - useful if you use something like vBA.
* You can define a usergroup to login as Flashchats "Spy" mode.

More notes:

* The automatic link feature may fail if you have customised templates (it uses template hooks).
* For Flashchat inside a vBulletin page you need to link to .../misc.php?do=flashchat
* This modification does not add any links to Flashchat Administration in the ACP.
* You can set all members to login direct to particular room via the ACP.
* You can also add a room parameter to the url - i.e. .../misc.php?do=flashchat&room=3
* Spys can login into the chat but are not listed in the room - they cannot chat, just watch.

Note: This modification is not Flashchat - you must obtain and install that first - this is just vBulletin / Flashchat Integration. You must also install Flashchat into a folder called 'chat' in your forum root folder i.e. (/forums/chat/) - this is the same folder as your usercp.php file and includes folder. This modification will fail if you do not do this.

Finally, I am not Tufat.com (http://www.tufat.com) or Flashchat Support - if you have questions about Flashchat, their forums are here (http://www.tufat.com/forum/index.php).

To use the this integration simply download and unzip the file, then follow the instructions in the text file. Once installed, the Flashchat userlevel options for each usergroup will appear in the ACP usergroup edit screens - editing of the CMS file will no longer be required.

When I click on a PROFILE inside of FlashChat, I get the following error:

Your submission could not be processed because a security token was invalid.

If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error

I know this is a problem with the out-of-the-box FC integration, however, it looks like this integration is trying to fix it.

Is there something wrong with my site configuration?

I am sure that I did as I checked the file again by downloading it. It is defiantely your CMS file. I uploaded it again, and reloaded FC and same issue.

It does put the extra info on the URL (#=hex #)

If I go to the address bar and press enter, it does redirect properly (but then it isn't a POST any more)

I am not sure if this would be part of the issue, but I do have "Mod Rewrite Friendly URLs" set on the site.

Hi, thanks for the great mod, works like a charm on my test forum.

Above you mention that the chat can be embedded in an existing page, and for chat in a vb page to link to /misc.php?do=flashchat

How would I embed the chat, lets say, on the main forum.php page or perhaps somewhere on main CMS page?

Does it work if you turn that option off ?

It makes no difference on my test site, but then I have no actual mod rewrite rules set. If turning that option off fixes it then you need to look at your rules as they are breaking it.
OK, I tried it disabled and enabled. I am using the .htaccess provided by vBulletin and it doesn't seem to have any bearing on the issue.

I also am getting another error when attempting to view the messages in the Admin area of FlashChat. Once I installed your mod, I know get the following error:

"Error 4.0.4 : No permissions found for usergroup ."

Any ideas on what I should be looking for to resolve this issue?

It was working great...now when i try, I get prompted for LOG ON. I do my VB admin logon and it goes to a blank page.

I goto the chat/admin, it prompts me for a log on. Input log in and get error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function next() on a non-object in /home/blackber/public_html/chat/inc/cmses/statelessCMS.php on line 132

Both those issues suggest you have not imported the product into vb, or you have disabled it (or disabled all plugins ?).

When I go to http://www.mysite.com/misc.php?do=flashchat in IE 7, I get a Windows Internet Explorer error popup: "Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http://www.mysite.com/misc.php?do=flashchat. Operation aborted". I click on and get taken to the “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage” error. If I refresh the screen it seems to work fine.

IE 8 brings the page with a ~broken flash applet, if I refresh the page, I get a script error in the bottom left corner:

Not really.

Are you sure you have the latest flash plugin for IE ?

I cant try it with IE myself as those are not real links to your site - IE7 & 8 work fine on my site.

The plug-ins were enabled and I had imported the product.

All of the other ADMIN pages work just not the messages page.

I tried uninstalling the product and reinstalling. I get the same errors.

=( buh. OK. Understandable.

So my current status is...

The msglist works fine when I move back to original vbulletin40CMS.php file.
The msglink does not work with your updated vbulletin40CMS.php file.
It seems that the $group isn't passed.
The profile link doesn't work with either one. In FC original it was due to the CSRF protection. I was able to work around that. In this mod, it is acting like it is getting the wrong value ... or something =/
The rest of the integration does seem to function properly.

I think my next step is to recreate my board as a test board and start tearing things apart.

Paul M, thanks for your assistance and insight, as well as your MODs.

EDIT: Just saw the part about PMing you the details.. I was thinking that your comment was that since you couldn't see it you were at a loss. I will get you the details in a PM. Thanks again.

Not really no, thats why this mod uses its own page.

If you really want, you could embed it as an iframe, similar to how the custom page works, but I wouldnt recomend it, esp on your homepage, you would very quickly overload your system.

Thank you Paul M for taking the time to track them down.

For those following along at home =) some of the issues I posted were most likely due to my installing and uninstalling out of order to try to correct the issues that were ultimately fixed by Paul. The integration did work (other than the minor issues that were ultimately corrected) when installed (or uninstalled) properly and in the correct order. =)

So once we got over the basic install issues (that I seemed to have caused) Paul M was able to resolve the real issues.

Thanks again Paul M for taking the time.

The integration is working well and I have a lot of happy forum members because of it!

(tries to add more stars to the 5 star rating) :)

Did an install on my dev site today and the following:
css.php?sheet=memberlist.css

appears at the top of the page above the vB top banner.

This is on a 4.0 upgraded board, using only the default style.

Installed flashchat, then the integration mod, then the admincp mod.

Btw Paul, ty for your mods and time, been using various ones for several years now.

I uninstalled the mod. Now, when I create a new usergroup in vB Admin CP I get this:
MySQL Error : Unknown column 'fcpermissions' in 'field list'
Error Number : 1054
What should I do to get rid of it? I want to be able to create new usergroups!

I had to use a workaround - I reinstalled the mod and then I disabled it. Now I can add usergroups.

This is a fantastic Mod, I am glad you got it ported to VB4 so soon.

I have a question, in the Parse_Templates portion of your mod I would lke ot modify this to not just open a new tab, but to actually open a new pop up window 600x400

How would I do this?

I see in the mod you have $nwin = ' target="blank" ';

Thats fine, I have the settings to open a new window but I do not want a new TAB, I would like it to be a POP up

Maybe better, a feature request to have this as an option in the AdminCP settings. Say have along with Open in New Window have Allow POP UP and select initial Size?

Ok no worries, I prefer the pop up, because a common complaint is as users are chatting they also want to view the forums, In my case we also use the chat during webcasts of races, so having the pop up while watching stats is a common thing for us.

Can you give me some assistance on changing the target to accomidate a pop up then. I am not asking you to do this, you can pm me the info, I would do it, and of course I know its not supported:up:

Strange problem on my website, some of the user are blocked in the chat!
When they leave the chat and try to return back on it (1 hour, 1 day, ...) the chat says something like "your login is already in use"

They cannot return in the chat
When I go in it, I see that the login of the guy is there.

I already kicked them, banned/unbanned, ... but always the same happens.

Do you have an idea of what's the problem?

PS : a lot of poeple have this problem but not all of them

Thats an issue with flashchat - sounds like your fc sessions are not being cleared when people log out.

regarding item 1 the pop up

During the racing season, we host live chat as we listen to the live webcasts. The Webcasts have live streaming of stats and opens in another window as well (Pop Up) The common complain is not being able to have multiple pop ups say Stats, Chat and Video in three seperate windows say 400x300 or 600x400

Many of us use monitors at 21 inco or above and being able to view all screens at the same time is a plus for us.

Having TABS mean we have to stop viewing one to move to another or we have multiple instance of the browser running shrinking down the entire browser to say 600x400 and fitting all screens in. SEE ATTACHED

After I installed FlashChat 6 all was well.

However, after I installed the following mods, loading stalls (see image).

Installed: Members who are chatting in Flashchat 6. [v4.0.1] (Paul M)

Installed: Flashchat 6 Integration for vBulletin 4.0 [v4.0.3] (Paul M)

Installed: FlashChat 6: Admin Panel Integration [v4.0.001] (Mosh)

You changed your Flashchat settings and selected the Vista Style - which doesnt actually exist in FC 6.0.6. Change back to the Aqua Style.

mine is like it loads the flash chat... but nothing appears... i just see the sin... nothing shows up... does anione know the solution ?

Hi Paul,

I´ve installed the integration today. And until that the chat was running fine as usual. I really dont know what happend now. I cant enter the chat (similiar to Wilfman) but while the loader is working I get an error #1010 (Flash). I hadn´t touched the settings at all. At the end I can here the bell which should mean I am connected and in the chatroom - but I have no chatwindow, nothing.

As it seems this is caused by your mod. So I uninstalled it, uninstalled flashchat and removed the tables from the db, installed FC out of the box, copied your files and imported the xml. But, another turn & burn. Same errors, same behaviour.

Would you be so kind and could assist me with that ?

Wilfmans problem was unrelated to this mod, he changed his Flashchat settings, and that broke his chat.

It is also impossible for this to cause Flash errors, so something else must be happening.

You need to be a little more specific as to what assistance you want :)

I took a look, and you are not using the cms file supplied with this modification, therefore it wont work.

As the support note says ;

Judging by the dates on your files, it looks to me like you uploaded this mod on Dec 26th 2009, then uploaded a new set of chat files on Jan 2nd 2010, therefore overwriting this mods cms file with the default. You must re-upload this mods files.

Hello,

My users except me as the admin are coming up saying they are banned and we need this chatroom only for registered users.

Thus I cannot find in my Admin CP where the permissions option is under usergroups?

Flashchat v6 is simply way to buggy, incomplete and badly coded.Actually, it's buggy still, but they are working hard at it, quite complete and well coded. And it's free.

I know far more expansive chats that are not nearly as good.

I'm having scroll bar issues with the chat box.. when I'm going to:

/misc.php?do=flashchat&room=1

It shows and log ins the chat box just fine without any problems. No scroll bar.. but when I move my mouse within the chatbox, it shows a scroll bar to both sides, causes flickering issues.

I've attached screenshots for example.. First one being normal, second with my mouse going within the chat box. Using FireFox 3.5.7. Internet Explorer seems to work fine.

Flashchat can be displayed embedded inside a 'standard' vBulletin Page (i.e. not full screen).
Mind sharing how? I don't see any tutorial for that.

Secondly, can this FlashChat keep logs? I don't see any log options. I know you are not the author of FlashChat, but maybe you know a way to enable chat logs for the public.

I cannot answer your question on scrollbars - thats Flashchat or flash in general. As for logs, there are no public logs in Flashchat.

Paul M, I saw that. But it kinda confuzzled me (regarding posting it on a specific page). as I wanted to make it show at the bottom of the page, I'll try it though! Thanks. I really hope that public logs within flashchat will be available later on (I know you are not the author :p).. It makes things a lot easier.

I noticed this on mine too. Clicking the chat gives a popup saying "incorrect username or password". Then it briefly shows the "loading sounds/etc" message, then brings up a login box which nothing can be typed in.

Paul, after the upgrade to 4.0.1 the auto login is not functioning. Are you seeing this?

From a quick test, yes, I appear to have the same issue.

This is the second thing that 4.0.1 appears to have broken.

Just to confirm, vBulletin 4.0.1 has completely broken automatic login to Flashchat - I know what this issue is now (a small, but fundemental change). I will be uploading an updated Integration soon.

Sometimes users plus admin are unable to see who is in the chat room and that invisible person message appears as [undefined] username.

plus, while performing private chat, username doesnt show up...

and users and admin are unable to change the room by right room list.

please advise.

Tafreeh, try going into FlashChat outside of the integration. If it still happens then it is a FlashChat issue. If it doesn't, then it probably still is a FlashChat issue.. but you might look around and see what is unique about your installation.

FlashChat still needs some work, but the modification from Paul M (and the admin one from Mosh) work great. All of the other errors that I have are due to FlashChat itself.

Once I installed the latest version of this integration mod (so it'd be compatible with vB 4.0.1), the usergroup settings in the adminCP no longer have an option for chat settings. Certain usergroups that were able to get into the chat a few days ago are now being denied access. Anyone else having this issue?

Regarding the flickering, I had that happen with the regular FlashChat install, so I am guessing it is not with the integration but FlashChat 6.0.6 itself.

I am guessing it is possibly an issue with Flash and FlashChat.

Some of my members has luck with clearing out the Flash cache (in addition to browser cache and cookies.) But not all.

Hi guys hopefully someone can help :)

1st of all thank you for this hack. But.... Theres always a but :)

I have installed Flashchat to my test board and it is accessible from wxw.myforum.com/chat/flashchat.php# all works fine apart from the autologin.
I have installed this product and now I have the permissions section and it auto adds the link to the dropdown list.
All is good untill I click on the link to take me to wxw.myforum.com/misc.php?do=flashchat and all I get is a site map list of links.

I have also installed the admin intergration mod and that seems to work fine. its just the wxw.myforum.com/misc.php?do=flashchat that doesn't want to play ball.

Can someone tell me what I have missed?

Im a bit confused, what exactly is your issue ?

When i click on the Flashchat link in the community drop down list all I get is a page that looks like a sitemap What i dont get is a chat box on a vb page. hope that makes sense.

Ok I have just been having a play and it turns out that

doesn't work on my site either! so it may not be a problem with the install of this product looks like something to do with the misc.php not working properly.

Ok Sorry Paul it turns out that "Vbadvanced" is to blame. I disabled it and my "misc.php" pages work fine including the flashchat one. I guess I will have to go and find out how to sort that one.

Please read the main post, the information is there for a reason.

Note: This modification is not Flashchat - you must obtain and install that first - this is just vBulletin / Flashchat Integration. You must also install Flashchat in your forum root folder i.e. (/forums/chat/) - this is the same folder as your usercp.php file and includes folder. This modification will fail if you do not do this.

Something I find in general with custom pages in vb4 due to the YUI resetting issue in browsers, is to wrap all custom pages in the following class:

<div class="article cms_clear restore">

<p>Content here...</p>

</div>

It seems that otherwise because of what vb have done with this whole issue in general with CSS resetting, if you use the above tags you regain full CSS control over custom coding, ie. <p> tags work again, rendering for that page is reset to browser standards without the YUI issue.

I was finding that without this class wrapped in a div around your integrated template, when you click on the chat scrollers appear, it was doing strange behaviour when using the flashchat settings for closing the software, etc. It extends pretty far this YUI issue they implemented. This simple class addition though fixes so many issues.

Maybe you want to include it by default or atleast others can use it, especially if using Firefox and other web standards browsers.

I have a issue which I have not seen too much of in here.

Sorry for the triple post, but I determined the problem. It looks like you need to include a raw template into your xml file.

Just under line 105, I suggest that you add the following code:

{vb:raw headinclude_bottom}

Just a suggestion. :)

Hi Paul, first off let me thank you for all of the great mods you have contributed here. I've been using your mods for many years and wanted to let you know that I really appreciate all of the time and effort you put into them.

The issue I have today seems to have been caused when I upgraded to a clean install of flashchat 6.07.

For some reason now when the members have to sign in again instead of simply entering the chat. I've looked through the settings in the admin panel and they all seem to be correct. Am I missing something or should I retry reinstalling again?

As I already stated, its impossible for me to tell you whats going on, I have no access to your systems, and it could be anyone of hundreds of issues.

TBH, I no longer use Flashchat at all, and if I did, I would still be using FC4. Flashchat 5 was a complete disaster, and Flashchat 6 seems to be very buggy still. I hesitated to even update these for vBulletin 4, and atm Im seriously considering no longer supporting them.

Not sure if anyone can help me, but I am trying to edit the flashchat template so that if the user is not logged-in it displays a simple text string instead of a blank chat area. I have played around with template conditionals (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/template_conditionals), but cannot seem to get it to work.

Basically, I need the proper code to check to see if they are logged-in from within the flashchat template. thanks in advance!

I know the system quite well and I never got issues.This time is a little bit different.
All seems to work smootly (flashchat integration 407 - Flashchcat 607 - vb 402pl2)
BUT when click on the disconnect button the page won't go back to forum but reload itself again adressing you again into flashchat room and not to forum pages.
It was long time since my last install so for sure i forgot something...but what? ...lol pls help

Btw, on top of the chat (and in the top of the browser), it says "FlashChat 6 Integration". Is it possible to change that to a title of choice (like: Mac Chat)?

If you mean the browser as in the tab and the heading at the top of the Chat frame then just change the phrase in

Languages and Phrases>search in phrases>

Change - FlashChat 6 Integration

Just a little addition to alert those to when members are actually in the Chat area

find {vb:raw wic.list}

and insert your path to the flashing icon before the above line of code eg ..............

Anyone know if its possible to move the Chat link to the Forum sub-menus and even include an ajax # of who's online? Like in VSa's Advanced New Posts...but for showing who's in chat. And it'd be really dope if the drop-down of it showed the names of the people...

prolly will have to be another mod tho I imagine?

That is a setting within Flashchat - not related to this mod - its something along the lines of redirect on logout (in the admin settings).

I will sort that out in my test forum. (actually I've reverted/downgraded my live forum from 4 to my old 3.7.7) and I plan to keep it live for few more days, untill 4.0 will be more stable and more hacks are ported.

The log out problem has long been an issue with the flashchat although it doesnt cause any major hassle it would be nice to be resolved by Tufat

But as Paul has remembered, is just a problem of correct settings/path in the chat admin panel.

Hi paul,

I'm having some problems with the flash chat login screen.

When you use a link like http://mysite/misc.php?do=flash

The chat appears and askes you to logon. Is there anyway of getting this to not display the login when using the link above.

I'd like all my users to go though my VB4 to get to chat and not to use the short cut.

Any help on this would be gratefully recevied. Thanks

ok got it to work but have a question about customizing the skin. I have looked all over the web for the answer and and can not find it. When making a new theme I get this error "Please insert correct value for field User Interface Transparency:". Also when i try to switch themes it will not change. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. I just edited an existing theme and it worked.

Not sure if this has been asked as I honestly did not read through the 200+ posts but would it be possible to add an option as to when chat is available? For example say Wed @ 7pm Then allow for the link to appear and maybe make an announcement in a forum noting it's opening?

Hi Paul. I hope you can help me with what appears to be a trivial issue.

I just installed FlashChat 6.0.7 on my vBulletin forums. Since I wanted the chat to integrate with my own CMS, I used the latest CMS files provided by Paul, and completed the installation. The installation asked for Admin account / password, for which I gave my own admin credentials and gave dummy ones for the Mod and Spy mode.

After that, I have also installed these 2 modifications successfully:

Flashchat 6 Integration for vBulletin 4.0 (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=231184)

FlashChat 6: Admin Panel Integration (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=231193)

At the moment, I am facing two problems:

1. I can log into the chat from: http://forums.pakfellows.com/chat/index.php but when I try to log in from the Navigation bar link, i.e. http://forums.pakfellows.com/misc.php?do=flashchat&room=1, the chat never works. The blue screen appears and that's it.

2. I can NOT enter the Admin CP and make any changes. When I enter my credentials, it appears to have logged in, but when I click on "Rooms" or "Configuration", it gives me the log in page once again. I have tried this both from the vBulletin integrated Admin CP as well as from the stand alone Admin CP of FlashChat as well.

Could you very kindly help me?

There is no way I could tell you whats wrong without admin and ftp access. I suggest you check you have installed everything correctly. JFYI, Im also away for a few days as of tomorrow.

I have this same issue.

If I load it www.mysite.com/chat it works fine. (Well, the autologin doesn't work, but that's a tufat issue, not the mod I'm assuming)

But if I load it from the link in the menu www.mysite.com/misc.php?do=flashchat&room=1 I get an autoload attempt followed by the dreaded flashchat *oops* sound and the error message: Incorrect user name or password. Please try again.

Hello,
I installed flashchat 6.08 to my vb4.0.3 and it works perfectly, except when you click on a user to view their profile. I get this error message:

"Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing.

If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error."

I saw an earlier post in this thread by a guy who had the same problem, but I did not see any fix posted for it. This is the only bug I have with this great integration mod. I hope there is a fix for this.

There is no fix because it works fine. I have 6.0.8 and 4.0.3 installed.

Make sure you are using the CMS file supplied by this mod, not the default FC version.

I was unable to install flashchat 6.0.8 and integrated into vBulletin 4.0.4 using the vbulletin40CMS.php file contained in this zip. Has anyone successfully done this yet? I get to step 2 of the flashchat installation and it reported that it was unable to detect my login settings. I understand this problem was fixed with 4.0.3 but it may be back again.
The CMS file in this zip works fine. I have it working with 4.0.4 & 6.0.8. I dont know what you are referring to with 4.0.3, no problem existed to fix. The only CMS issue was back when 4.0.1 was released in January, and that was fixed back then.

Hi Paul. I think I messed this up by uploading the current CMS file instead of the new one, then I imported the XML. Yes I read the "(Make sure you do this before step 4)" and thought I did LOL Wrong file, stupid one on my part. The link shows in the Community dropdown but it gives me this:

So disabled it, reuploaded, still get the message. Tried uninstalling it, reuploaded and still the same message.

Looks like I messed something up! I can still just add a tab and link it that way as it seems like the only thing not working is the link? Login integration works nice when I just paste the FC link into a browser when logged onto my forum. Takes me right in and shows me as the admin.

Thanks for any help....sorry for the slip up.

vB 4.03 by the way....doesn't sound like that matters.

Ok. Thanks Paul. I did install FC into a folder with a special name. I dug through the XML and found a location to change....I'll give that a whirl! :)

EDIT - not worth the time. changed my folder back to chat, reinstalled and everything works fine so far. Sorry to have wasted your time.

Everything has installed correctly and seems to be working fine other than the auto login. I have installed everything properly and triple checked my actions. It seems that the username that flashes by on the bottom is int_1 which is not even close to my username. Could you maybe point me in some direction to get this chat communicating with my user database? Does it matter if you use stateless or registered during the install process? I used registered. Anyways, the problem is that it says invalid username and or password when logging in flashcaht through vbulletin automatically. Thank you

Thats really a Flashchat question, not a question about this mod - however, yes, F/C has the ability for members to have private chats with each other.

The auto login is not working for me. It comes up with invalid username or password. Click ok and it will come up with a login screen. I enter my username and password there and it will log me in. Any ideas? I have the latest version of this mod installed and VB 4.0.3 and Flashchat 6.0.5
