From the makers of Smooth and Jazz comes the singing sensation my mom has been waiting months for:

AME3. Bigger. Badder. Bestest.

NOTE ABOUT vB4.0.3: ------------------------------------------------------------

vBulletin 4.0.3 has changed the way video codes are handled and in the process, inadvertently broke AME3. I have submitted a bug report and believe that the issue will be quickly resolved. There is a manual fix you can apply for 4.0.3 here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=2019974&postcount=608) in the interim.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AME3 is the sequel to the multi award winning AME 1x and AME 2x (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=202476) systems. AME3. This time, its different.

Vote for AME3 as MotM! (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=231801)

If you like AME3, you'll love AME'fy for your profiles! (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=231814)
AME3 does 3 things:
It allows users to simply paste URLs into their message without having to use the video bbcode or video popup box.
It allows you to add, edit and customise the video definitions that ship with vB4
It allows you to import community created definitions to extend the system in ways you otherwise couldn't.Now you can use AME anywhere you can use video bbcode: posts, blogs, visitor messages, the CMS, etc...

Note that I am releasing this early for beta testing and general feedback. There is currently a bug in RC2, RC4 and 4.0.0 that will prevent AME from working however there is a workaround posted below.

I have written a pretty comprehensive readme and attached it seperatly to this post. I suspect both this post and the readme will get updated as AME3 becomes finalised.

Is it just me or is there no product file in the zip file?

From the troubleshooting section of the readme:

3. Where is the product XML file?
By default, AME requests that you read the installation instructions. This is where it says “The AME3 product file is in your includes/xml folder and is called product-ame.xml.”

;)

I have a feeling I'm going to need to move that back out to the root zip :D

Doesn't seem to work with Gold.. But delighted this is being updated for VB4 I missed it so much when I updated to beta.. I mean having people go to video first and then add the link is in honestly too much hassle for some people.. the fact you can just add the link and it automatically changes it's so much better.. AME all the way.. I hope you sort this out soon because I loved this back in 3.8.4

Cheers for the hard work

[EDIT] If you can, with youtube can you make it so it adds the fullscreen button? That was one of the only issues I had with this last time around.. If not no worries... Cheers

I may not be able to install 4.0 for a while, but that doesn't mean I can't develop definitions. I just won't be able to test them personally. What do I need to know that makes defs different in AME 3?

Alan_SP
12-22-2009, 06:37 AM
Because in vb4, AME uses vbs new [video] tag, the old [ame] tags will become redundant. Because of this and many internal changes, the upgrade path will actually look like:

1- uninstall AME2.x but leave the [ame] tags intact
2- install AME3
3- Run conversion tool which will convert ame tags into video tags.

Well, I'll ask my question here, it's a new version, it may be more appropriate in this thread...

In what step do we upgrade vB4? Before step 1, or before step 2?

The Geek

You won't have any problems updating most of your definitions - however because its vB doing the actual processing, there are some limitations to what can no be converted. Basically 1 parameter. Ill whip up some info and put it in the readme once I get it updated for gold.

You can upgrade vB4 first or uninstall AME2x first. Remember though that if you upgrade vb4 first AME2x isn't compatible with vB4 so you will have to disable it AME untill it is uninstalled.

I have updated the pacakge to beta 2.

This version fixes a few issues with vB4 gold that was released yesterday and a few additional bugs users have noticed during the beta test.

I have verified that the bad hook bug mentioned in the first post still exists :down: I have included a safety check in ame's admincp to make sure users have removed it.

Again, thanks for the help in beta testing!

I can't confirm this. There isn't anything in AME that would stop the default video code from working. The only exception could be if you used URLs that vB's video code wouldnt parse to begin with. Can you provide an example?

There is a tool in AME3 that will convert your old [ame] tags into vB's new [video] tag or a url if you don't have a mactching definition.

Not a problem thanks for the fast support.

Now maybe you can help me with a video code once I figure out one I can do more.

This is for Photobucket videos in which a lot of my users post.
regex URL this converts just fine I think.

http:\/\/(?:[\w\d]+\.)?photobucket\.(?:[\w\.\/%-_?]+)\?.*action=view&current=([a-z0-9-_]+\.flv)

it parses to
http://s295.photobucket.com/albums/mm133/amonday7/?action=view&current=TesTTube.flv

Now here comes the problem.
I added this in the embed box

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="600" height="361" data="http://photobucket.com/player.swf?file={vb:raw code}">
<param name="movie" value="http://photobucket.com/player.swf?file={vb:raw code}" />

AME just checks your urls to see if they could actually be videos. If they are, AME changes the URL to url and passes it off to vBulletin to handle the rest. Are you sure you don't maybe have the old version of AME still installed and enabled? Maybe some other mod?

It scans through all forum post and only alters post that need to be altered.

run it once with test and verbose mode mode on and test mode on. If you have no errors then set them both to no and run again.

It will then convert the threads.

Would it not make more sense to write a mod to extend the current available sources, rather then adding mods that do the same thing?

nope. You can of course uninstall AME2x and choose to revert AME to url's if you want. You could then go through each post and re-video them.

As he said Install AME 2.5 on you 4.0 board. Do not visit any threads. Go directly to the adminCP go to the AME tools. Press the link that says convert post to url bbcode.

All your videos will be converted to url's

You could just install AME 3 and Convert all your AME tags to Video tags and uninstall the mod.

Cant see why you wouldn't want this to work the same for your members like in 3.8.
Just post a link hell with pressing the bbcode button. My members love it.

AME3 does have this ability. Though the readme goes deeper into this the basic process to transition from AME2x is:

1- Uninstall AME2x before or after your vb4 upgrade (note AME2x will not work on vb4 though)
2- This will leave [ame] tags in your posts
3- Install AME3
4- Go to the Tools section of your AME ACP page and choose rebuild posts/blogs/etc...
5- This process can convert the old AME tags into [video] tags OR [url] tags if there is not a matching definition.

hmmm... that doesn't make any sense. I only ever use require_once to include class files and the calls look identical.

Can you edit your AME - Auto COnvert URLs plugin and replace it with this:

if (class_exists("vB"))
{
$reg = &vB::$vbulletin;
}
else
{
global $vbulletin;
$reg = &$vbulletin;
}

if (!is_object($reg->AME))

}

$reg->AME = new AME_message_prep($reg);

Yes, I am positive that you have accidently copied the includes/ame_prep.php file into the ame folder which has overwritten the cache file with a code file.

Partly my mistake for naming them both ame_cache.php
I have renamed the cache file for the next release.

By default, the ame cache folder is located in your forum directory and it is called ame. If that is still the location of your file cache, delete the ame_prep.php file in there and resave your settings.

It is very true. All AME is doing is looking at all your URL tags and if it sees that the URL tag contains a media definition, it swaps it out with a [video] tag. vBulletin does the actual processing.

Make sure you don't have an old verison of AME installed.

All I am saying is that you would get the exact same effect using the Video popup with vBulletin so that is a vB issue. If you widen your browser a bit, its fine. You should be able to adjust the max size via css though.

Thanks for the update, will give it a whirl -- I appreciate you working the php issue.

I am certain this is just for language/messages, but wanted you to know.

I was wondering if AME has any products it works with that will allow it to stream locally hosted video rather than things like youtube? I was using JW Mediaplayer and flowplayer but am open to any suggestions on how to stream these videos in VB.

After editing the hooks_vbcms.xml file, go to your plugin manager, edit the hook mentioned and click save. You don't need to change anyting except removing the line mentioned in the hooks_vbcmls.xml file. (the readme goes into a more detailed step by step, so you may want to check that out :) )

Hope that helps!

If anyone has enabled cache but has not specified a path and left it BLANK.
You will have an error every time a video link is posted.

I got rid of it by copying the default path it generated. Literally solved my problem!

Thanks for this. I was getting this problem too.

Another issue I noticed was when I tried to rebuild the cache in ACP it said "Could not find phrase 'ame_saved'." - That one's probably not major though. Can't expect perfection from a Beta.

Thanks for this release though, Geek. This is one of the most useful mods ever, very happy to see it adapted for 4.0 :)

It will not embed attachments (unless that's changed in vB4 and someone hasn't told me). It will embed locally hosted MP3s not uploaded as attachments, but not until a definition for MP3s has been created for this version of AME.

DJ is correct, 'out of the box' AME4 doesn't have any additional definitions than vB4 comes with.

BTW... I have been experimenting with AME'fying profiles. If there is enough interest I may 'formalise' this as an addon. Basically it allows you to tell AME to render certain custom profile fields (that ideally have a media url in). It will then show in the profiel depending on where you assign it. Right now there are about 6 different places.

Hello everyone:

I need help with AME Regex URL. And I am willing to pay a reasonable fee for someone who can help. Here is what I need:

Any time AME sees an URL starting with "http://MySite.com/P/?" it then out put the entire url as a parameter. I will then put {vb:raw code} in a embed code.

For example, in this URL

http://MySite.com/P/?@4ATsy4DPut4ELHH2qQtFpage_1_test&ZZ@4ATmv4DFyC4EEFc@4AWJg4BWWy1CTVO4DLvN4EByx1qJijp age3&ZZ@

It starts with

http://MySite.com/P/?

Then the whole URL is the parameter, nothing needs to be altered...

http://MySite.com/P/?@4ATsy4DPut4ELHH2qQtFpage_1_test&ZZ@4ATmv4DFyC4EEFc@4AWJg4BWWy1CTVO4DLvN4EByx1qJijp age3&ZZ@

Thank you very much in advance and happy new year!

WC

ps. here is my older code which still work fine on the old forum:

([http://]*[a-z]*?[\.]?mysite\.com\/P\/[\w\/\-\%\?\@]+)

$p1 is the parameter; it will get the entire url

Well, I don't know what's changed in the new version of AME yet, but in the previous version, at least, you could just use something simple:

http://[\w.]*mysite\.com/P/\?[\w&;@]+

And just use $ameinfo[url] (I assume The Geek didn't change this in AME 3) for the URL. You don't need to escape every forward slash, and you don't need % or - unless you have some URLs that have those characters. If so, just add them to the last set of brackets. I'd recommend putting the dash last, as I've run into a couple of problems putting elsewhere in the brackets.

Try this, I don't have any embed code to go off of, but assume you can tweak if needed.

Note that because of the way vB4 deals with video parameters, you don't want a semi-colon in your parameter.

@DJ - Keep meaning to update the readme with an outline of the new formats, but keep getting side tracked :D

Because its really vB4 doing the video management, we are somewhat limited in some of the things we can do, but not many. The key restriction is that there can be only one parameter (and it can't contain a semicolon!). That parameter can be fetched from another site or from the URL. There are no other parameters that can be used in the embed code other than this parameter, so no titles, sizes, etc...

Il get to writing it soon enough!

However, nothing gets shown as a result and I can't see my embed code in the html source. Actually, there isn't anything at all....

Also, I have a bbcode that's working, is there a way to auto convert

It brings up the page but doesn't show the embed... For example,

I type in

test 1
http://MySite.com/P/?@4ATsy4DPut@
test 2

and get this when published

test 1

test 2

When I edit post, I see
test 1
http://MySite.com/P/?@4ATsy4DPut@
test 2

Then I check the html source, there is nothing between "test 1" and "test 2"

I think the decoding part is working, but it's ignoring my embed code (I checked many times to be sure the code is good, as a matter of fact, it is still working on my old forum with older version of AME)

Thanks :)

I don't fully understand what you're saying.

If you are on beta2a, upload all the files from the upload_into_forum folder in your beta 3b zip into your forum (overwriting all existing files).
Go to your product manager and browse to the includes/xml/product-ame.xml file and import (choosing to overwrite).

This is outlined in the readme.

The above link works for me?

AME is doing its thing, hence the video code looking like it is. That means AME found it as a match, went to the website and grabbed the ID (1594731) and wrapped it all up for vB4's video parser. So not too sure what to say :(

*edit - attached is a screenie of the video above on my test board. This is editing the message so AME has already wrapped in [video] tags and shows like yours.

If you put http://MySite.com/P/?@4ATsy4DPut@ into a browser, it gives you a 404 so how can you be sure its the right embed code?!?

Hi

The url is valid with the our domain name. It links to an embed adobe shockwave file (not flash video). I would love to pay a reasonable fee if you can fix the problem. Let me know if you have a few hours to do this :)

Thanks

its not really the hours, I just need to see examples of what combinations of URLs there are and what the expected embed code would be. Right now I can't do that based on the information you supplied :(

and you edited the hook mentioned and saved?

If so can you be a little more specific than "doesn't work?" i.e. can you link to a post that should be linking but isn't?

Used the 2.x version, uninstalled and now using this version.

Safe to delete the entire old amecache folder now?

Working so far. Thanks!!

Yup. Safe to delete all 2x files. These should all be listed in the ReadMe if you need em.

I only occasionally do requests and haven't ever done any local hosted content, DJ was the master at that. I suspect he may whip some out soon (if we send him enough love) :)

There aren't any that I know of. AME is still in Beta (till vB can fix the bug) and has just come out. Give it some time and the definitions will start to fall like Rain in Blackpool.

Works great on my site.

Only thing missing is support for local swf files like we had in version 3.8

Anyway that might be coming back and if so a rough idea when? All my QUIZZES utilize locally hosted swf files since no real good test taking mod exists. Using your mod and swf files worked VERY well in 3.8 so I am really really really hoping that locally hosted swf files will still be supported in 4.x

Thanks again for the great work "The Geek!"

I don't mind doing a new set manually if I have to. The only problem we're going to run into is testing these. I know from doing these for the last year or so that a definition that works the first time is cause for a celebration, or at least a drink. I usually have to test a dozen or so to make sure they're working. Without a vB 4.0/AME 3 test board, it will be tough to make sure they're working and be tough to work out any mistakes in the code or RegExps. I might have to make them all Beta.

Okay, so just to be sure since I have to work these from the inside out, let me know if I've got the tags compared correctly.

<item> = <def>
<id> = <providerid>
<title> = <tagoption>
<description>
NEW = <url>
<displayorder>
<findcode> = <regex_url>
<replacecode> = <embed>
<status>
<container>
<embedregexp> = <regex_scrape>
<extraction>
<gdef> = <priority>
<ameid>
<validation>

Okay, so just to be sure since I have to work these from the inside out, let me know if I've got the tags compared correctly.

<item> = <def> yup
<id> = <providerid> yup
<title> = <tagoption> title = provider
<description> Yup
NEW = <url> Yup. This is the home page. Links the Provider in the 'popup' media box.<displayorder> displayorder = priority
<findcode> = <regex_url> Yup
<replacecode> = <embed> Yup. Only takes 1 param though: {vb:raw code}
<status> yup
<container> yup
<embedregexp> = <regex_scrape> Yup
<extraction> Yup. asserted if regex_scrape contains value
<gdef> = <priority>
<ameid> ameid = tagoption
<validation>

So to recap:

providerid (was id) isn't really used on insertion anyway
provider (was title). A User friendly name for definition. Appears in the media popup box linked
url (new). A link to the provider home page. Used with Provider name to provide user friendly link in video popup box
tagoption (was ameid). A unique textual key to identify defintion
regex_url (was findcode). The regex to match the URL. Grabs the 1 parameter unless regex_scrape is specified
regex_scrape (was embedregexp). The regex that will return 1 match from the destination page.
embed (was replacecode). This is the html with {vb:raw code} in it. It actually gets build into the bbcode_video template.

Others are discontinued.

HTH's :)

Okay, thanks. Now does the order in the XML matter here, because I see a couple of tags have changed position?

Nope

Thats a bug with AME'fy, not AME3. ALl it means is that you haven't set up an entry in AME'fy yet. Set one up and it goes away. Ill see if I can update the package today to fix this.

You replied over there to this message.

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?334923-Youtube-videos-not-resizing-in-CMS

Have you gotten the issue w/the CMS worked out, where it will resize them ?

The Geek

There is no issue with the CMS and AME. If you uninstall AME you will see the exact same problem using vB4's video popup because the problem is vB4.

Doesn't work for me.

I have it in there and the checkbox is checked to parse it into video. Youtube is defined and it's a new post that was done after installing AME so it's not a matter of rebuilding posts. It's simply not doing anything to the youtube link.
