I added a few users as admins so they can help me manage the forum and help adding forums and child forums.

They have no access to do that besides "moderate" even though they are admins?

Are you sure they know how?

Swampfox

you need to set their administrator permissions

usergroups > administrator permissions

jbizzle

They have full administrator rights.

Also, yes I am sure, I even logged into their accounts to make sure and they barely have any access.

Of course.

You don't need to let them moderate a forum when they have full permissions.
I dont see why you people make Admins mods of certain forums.
Just use Admin Perms.

-----
Second thought, you set their options when you add a moderator to the forum.

No, I am trying to make them an admin for the WHOLE forum and they don't have access..

So you selected every single administrator right in that list and they don't have any of them? Or just some of them?

ChopSuey

Make them administrator of the whole forum?
change thier usergroup to administrator, THEN you will see in red font, "change administrator permissions"

I selected two people to become admins and they do have mod rights, but not much at all. All they can do is just edit posts, that's it.

I already did that.

Remove ALL the admins from the forums they moderate, they dont need that when they have "admin" perms.

Get it?

jbizzle

I already know that, but they have NO access to moderate forums when they are ADMINS.

Also, how do I set the forum to go to the first unread post of any thread selected..

ChopSuey

They MODERATE ALL FORUMS. wtf you thinking Lol?
Understand "Administrator"

Make sure you have set their permissions.

Lynne

What do you have for them under Forums & Mods > Show all Mods > Super Mods > find mod/admin on list > Edit Permissions?

Can you not ignore what I type? I know what the hell it means, BUT THEY DON'T HAVE ANY ACCESS, IS THAT HARD TO UNDERSTAND?

What do you have for them under Forums & Mods > Show all Mods > Super Mods > find mod/admin on list > Edit Permissions?

They have FULL access, but have very little options when they log into vbulletin admin..

Stop arguing and caps locking at people

Go to: AdminCP -> usergroups -> edit (insert admin usergroups here)
make sure "Can Moderate All Forums (is super moderator)" is set to YES

Lynne
12-21-2009, 02:26 PM
You keep going back and forth about whether is is permissions in the forums or permissions in the admin cp that you are having problems with.

Access in the Admin CP is defined by their Administrator Permissions (usergroups > administrator permissions - must have "Can Access Control Panel (is Administrator)" set to YES in their usergroup).

Access in the forums is definied by Moderator Permissions (forums & moderators > show all mods - must have "Can Moderate All Forums (is super moderator)" set to YES in their usergroup).

They both do say YES, but they have no access.

Would you guys like me to add you as admins to my forum?

Did you edit the said users themselves, in the drop down menu while editing their accounts, edit their admin options from that menu?

Lynne

They both do say YES, but they have no access.
But then you also have to change the options I mentioned on the other page, not just set the option to Yes in the usergroup manager.

Give us a screen capture of the Administrator Permissions screen and the Moderator Permissions screen for one of the users you are having problems with.

Okay I found out a trick, if I add their userid to the config, that lets them have admin access. Without that, they have little access and can only moderate the forums.

Yep

Another question, when people report posts, how am I supposed to know they reported it? I get an email like an hour later that someone reported a post..

You can set a forum (and a thread is started there) under reported post options

VB options> user infractions & post reporting options:rolleyes:

If they have a secondary usergroup that could be a problem with the permissions. :)

Thank you sir

Thanks for everyone answering my questions :)

I'm having another issue with signatures. I changed the width/height but it is still limiting the file to 9.8kb, anyway to raise that?

Something tells me that with the questions you have asked so far, you don't know how to work vBulletin. ;)

Not saying it's wrong, but it's suspicious to me. You wanting some help?

jbizzle

Of course I don't know how to use it, this is my first time using it..

Of course I want some help, that's why I keep posting questions.

Another question, how do I make it so new users MUST verify through email?

Only give people the administrator usergroup, if you fully trust them. They will be able to destroy your website.

Add them to specific forums here:
usercp -> forum & moderators -> forum manager -> add moderator to forum.

Put their accounts in the moderator usergroup, and then edit their moderator permissions in:
usercp -> forum & moderators -> show all moderators.

You add them to the Super Moderator User Group already available. You add them through their profile in the Admin CP.

Thought so, was confused because I saw both..

Thanks!

Another question..

For the PM box, quick reply shows up and when ever I reply to a private message, it does NOT show up in my "sent" box. Other forums I use DO show up in the sent box, how do I fix this?

That is an option you set in your User CP > Edit Options . Or, clcik the box to save it at the bottom of the PM.

Hmm, I just noticed this problem but my forums time seems to be off by 7 minutes, anyway to fix that?

Your forum follows your server time, if its off, then fix your time (date) on the server.

dedicated/vps server via ssh:
date --help
