Nice. I've seen this on other sites and I like it. I'll definitely be using this when I upgrade to vb4! So tagged for now! I'll click install once I install it.

you could use something like
<div style="font-size:70%">Thread Starter</div>
as the displayed phrase. This may work.

TO be honest, I don't see any direct advantage at all. In my forum, I run some promotional thing upon members activities, and they like to upgrade their status. So, this kind of hack sure boost them to upgrade their status by contributing more. Please have a try with it. I have seen already this kinda mod in vb forum already, but not as a modification around here in vb.org.

Hello,
I have selected the "Own Display Location via Hook", and I have tried it by entering "$threadauthor" and "$threadstarter" under my 'Posts' in my postbit. But I can't get it to work.
How and what do I need to do to get it working as my own location via hook, Please?
Many Thanks.

@Welshy2008:
Please read the help of this option (small ? next to it). There is described how this hook has to look like.
I don't know by heart anymore.

Thank You entertain.
Job done. It was '{vb:raw template_hook.threadstarter}' but I had to put 18 " " to the right of it to get it to line up with the rest of the items in Postbit. (Ie: Location, posts etc). Is there any other way that I can do that, that you know of, Please?
Best Wishes,
Welshy2008.

Where are the settings for this at? They don't show up in the options listing. The product shows up but no settings. I'm on 4.0.3 and a fresh install.
EDIT: I figured out why the settings were not showing. I use a program called AdMuncher to filter out web ads. When I have the filtering enabled, the settings do not show up, either in the vb Options or the product page on APM. Disabling the filtering makes the settinmgs show up. This is the only hack I have ever run across that causes this behavior.
I also have a suggestion for another idea of showing the threadstarters post. Why not add the option to have it work like the Inline Mod does where is highlights the background of the post?

Is there a way to get the Word "Threadstarter" colored?

Thanks for reporting!
At the moment the threadstarter stylevars don't support changing the font color. I am adding this and then releasing a new version (might be released this weekend).

it should. :)
@ppatil007:
Oh - I see. This is the disadvantage of using the phrases system. You might change the phrase to when you don't want to show anything.

Has nothing to do with ignorance. I just wanted to help. Instead of asking and waiting days without any answer u can try it and see if it works.
If u think that this is ignorance.... well :D

You must be "rebuild thread information" after installed, my 4.1.1 worked well.

Working fine, however, even though I changed the text color in the stylevar the text is not changing colors? Any thoughts?

Thank you for this mod. I have done some tweaking to get the thread starter display in the post header bar as shown in your screenshot. How did you position yours? I had to edit the CSS and specify a right margin of 60px and vertical margin 0px to get it to fit correctly. However, in longer threads, when the post count increases into the double or triple digits, it will increase the amount of right margin required for proper positioning. Is there any way to position this relative to the post count number so that it "floats" with the post count number as it increases?

You could always go into threadstarter.css, remove the variable reference and manually input a color. Worked for me.
