hello,
I was wondering if it is possible to downgrade your vb forum so that its not in the beta of vb4.
To vb3 (last verson)

No.
The only way to go back to vB3 would be from your last database backup you did before upgrading to vB4.

proably becuase he has everything his site/forum needs now instead of having to wait for mod updates and big fixes and styles of vb4. Possibly just a hunch.

as stated, there is no way and will not be a way to downgrade without loading a backup.
It's beta software, there are warning signs all over the place ;)

So why not alter vB 4 to look and feel like vB 3?
There are many vB 3 styles that emulate vB 2... I'm sure the same can be done with 4 -> 3.

ipmex is not written to handle vb4, there was some database restructuring in vb4. I know its a bit late to say but vb does not recommend going live with vb4.
If you started with vb4 and no backup of vb3, the only choice left to you is to install vb3 and start from scratch. If youre forum is big, well, you're up shitcreek without a paddle bluntly put.
Hope you find a way to sort it tho :)

i found an answer!! The database structure is the same, so i was able to convert down by just switching the files (well i only took the user , post, topic tables, everything else i didn't move) and it has worked, however, i dont recommend doing this (for anyone else) because i may have missed something that is a really big issue that can break laiter on...

If your database structure is the same, then you never really upgraded to vb4.

You might be in for a long ride until it decides to throw a rod through the hood of that car :(

Bingo jesusdavid, read above :D
Attachments for one as Lynne explained to me a while back along with some other changes to the DB take place. I'm one of the few who made a spliced 3.8/4.0 forum after the owner did not disable mods or do a backup when upgrading to Beta a few weeks back so I highly doubt like Lynne said if the structure is the same you never upgraded proper or not.

Yeah, i know, i never did upgrade, because i never had vb3... the very first time we installed vbulletin we used vb 4.0.0 beta 4.
The user tables and post/thread/board tables were the same - at least vbulletin didnt spam me with database errors when i used the forums....
Everyone here is just so nice isn't they? They love to respond with out reading the entire thread. i believe i have already stated the above statement. the 3rd post, correct me if im wrong, im sure you will....

Is it a possible way to convert vb4 to another forum script such like IPB and after converting you use IMPEX to convert back to vB3
Is this an idea that will work?
