I have had my site running for a couple of weeks and now have questions coming from the board members on why when they make a post and then click on the "New Posts" button their post does not show up. They tell me on other Vbulletin sites they can see their posts. I would appreciate any help with this.
Thanks
Alan

What type of Read Marking are you using? (vboptions > general settings > thread/forum read marking type.

It could be that those other users are used to the cookie markup method.
Thread/Forum Read Marking Type This option controls how threads and forums are marked as read.
Inactivity/Cookie Based - once a user has been inactive for a certain amount of time (the value of the session timeout option) all threads and forums are considered read. Individual threads are marked as read within a session via cookies.
This option is how all versions of vBulletin before 3.5 functioned.
Database (no automatic forum marking) - this option uses the database to store thread and forum read times. This allows accurate read markers to be kept indefinitely. However, in order for a forum to be marked read when all threads are read, the user must view the list of threads for that forum.
This option is more space and processor intensive than inactivity-based marking.
Database (automatic forum marking) - this option is the same as a previous option, but forums are automatically marked as read when the last new thread is read.
This is the most usable option for end users, but most processor intensive.Personally, I like the database markup method and I switched my site over to it about six months ago. I have a few users complain at first, but they are used to it now. I just found that with the other method (cookie based), if I was on the site checking out a setting or something and then came back an hour later, I would miss out on all the threads before I had gone to the site to check the setting.

This is Alan's wife...I am on 4 other boards and they are all the same except ours...there is something wrong that we cant figure out.
\for example,
If I press on post reply, then respond, then hit New Post, my post is not on the top and actually dissapears from the list...
I hope this makes sense :)

That is how it is here. If I reply to this thread, then I hit New Posts, this thread won't show up because I have read it up to the point of my reply, therefore there is nothing 'new' in it for me. This site uses database markup.
It sounds like maybe your are thinking about sites using cookie markup.

Thanks Lynne, I moved the site to a cookie based and they are now happy. I appreciate you help.

Is there a reason why a post in a thread falls down to the bottom even though it is active?? Shouldn't it stay to the top?

I'm not sure what you mean here. Posts in threads are usually order by newest last (like here). If you don't want it that way and you want it newest first, then that is done in their User CP > Edit Options > Thread Display Mode
