I will no longer support vBulletin because of IB and the agile development, and they are not fixing bugs like they should. Instead they add bloat.

Planed Changes:
Add signature to first post. - Added in 2.02
Add new member intro with in welcome post. Most likely with a Quote from member profile field.
Add admin option to send PM of newly created thread.

These Planed changes have no time frame. I want to make sure this is working 100% before I go adding on to it.

Why would the user to post a welcome post to them self?
You are thinking more along the lines of a introduction thread on register.

My plan is to include a introduction profile field with in a quote with the welcome post.

Thank you for the bug report for RC2.

NM it seems to be working on the second test..
Is there any way you can make the posticon work with double digits for custom icons ie:01 02
Default icon is the smiley face.
To chose a different icon, find out the icon number via the "Post Icon Manager" within the ACP
For random icons, seperate using commas. 1,2,3,4

I been looking into the double digit icons and can't seem to find out why it wont support double digit icons. I set the array to explode after the , so it should read i.e. 1,02,03 etc.
If any one sees the error let me know. so I can update it to work with double digits.

I am still looking in to it.

I need to it to pull custom profile fields down to the thread as well.

Changelog:
v2.02 - Bug fix for double digit post icons and fix for adding the signature to first post.

Known Bugs:
Multiple welcome post if you have it set to post the welcome thread after email activation. There is no known fix for this it happens when a user refreshes the activation page. If vBulletin would add another hook it would fix this error. I have to use register_activate_start but I should use register_activate_complete.

Edit:
It seems vBulletin is working on this with me. So we just may get the hook added to fix this error.

The Hook I requested they add should of been there in the first place. Thanks for your suggestion. If they don't add the hook then I will use your fix. I am hoping they will add it though.

If you put more than one userid in the thread creator, does every userid create a new thread or does it randomly pick just one to create the welcome thread? (ie. If there are 5 userid listed as thread creators, then every time a new person joins dies it create 5 new welcome threads or does it make just one?$

You can only have one thread creator. So it will randomly choose one of the 5 userid's you enter.

I have a fix but you will have to add a hook in register.php.

I will release this version when I get done some running I have to do today.

It will require a manual edit and a file upload . This is only if you wish to use the post thread after email verification.

vBulletin should be adding this hook in 4.0.1. So this will be a temp fix.

I will look into that or including the link to the users profile in the welcome message its self.

Like if you turn the option on in the admin cp it will say.

View their profile here: http://www.link.com/to/profile.

I didn't forget about this, this is on the top of my list to get updated. I just busy with work and my own code.
I promise with in the next week it will be updated.

Nice mod. I haven't tried yet, but I was wondering if this mod will allow me to add some code to the Thread Content boxes like:

if field1!="" { <br><br><font color="gold">RL Name: </font> $field1; }
if field2!="" { <br><br><font color="gold">Game Name: </font> $field2; } etc.

I plan to force new users to fill out certain profile fields and then use this mod to add it to their welcome thread. If it can't be done in the thread content boxes, I'll figure out how to do it in the code.

Thanks.

My plan is to release what I have running on my site now in the next day or two.

It has the fix for the unregistered post.
It has the option to include the introduction if you make the extra profile field.
Hopefully it will have the fix for the double digit icons that I thought I fixed once.

Then a few days after I am going to add the option to pm the member of the new thread.

Would it be possible to have the username in the welcome post link to that user's profile? I will no longer deal with hacks by coders who throw a fit when someone asks a question.

Uninstalled.

That works for me!!! One less lazy person to support. It isn't that you over looked it, You did not bother to read at all. It is in the very first post of this thread and several other places in the thread. I spend my time building these modifications and some of you can not take the time to read a thread. But you surly complain about a bug that has been reported several times.

I always have to answer the same question over and over.
We provide these mods free with free support the least some people can do is read the thread. That would save me time having to answer the same question over and over.

Installed.

It works a treat, but I get 3 welcome messages for the same new user.

I think thats in hand and something to do with a hook with vB having read through the post. It wasnt that hard really to read through the posts!!!!!!

Will wait and see what happens.

Meantime I can delete the other 2 welcome threads causing no hassle.

Cheers BBR-APBT (strange name lol)

Keep up the good work!

BBR-APBT, the fix for the known bug highlighted in your opening post will be released when vB have added a hook you say in the next vB 4 release? What about for those running the 3.8 series?

This plugin works like a charm on the 3.8.4 so far but I am guessing they won't be making anymore changes to the 3.8 series except basic bug fixes so I am guessing we'll have to apply a fix which requires a manual edit? Correct?

This might be a dumb question, but I can't figure out what to enter for the ForumID that i want the thread to be in. I assume it is supposed to be a number, but I can't find any numbers associated with the Forums other than the Display order.

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

When you browse a forum (but not browsing an individual thread or post) look at the URL in your browsers address bar. The number the prefixes the forum title is your forum number.

For example:- www.example.com/forumdisplay.php?p=25-My-Forum-SEO-Friendly-Title

Then the number 25 will be your forumid ;)

Hi, BBR!

This is an outstanding mod. Thank you!

I'm using 4.0.2 and having all of the issues mentioned when set to post after activation. Multiple posts, posts for Unregistered, and posts for people who aren't new. I see a hook called register_addmember_complete. I'm wondering if that's the new hook you mentioned, and, if so, can it be added somewhere else as a temporary fix? I know you're a busy guy so I don't want to ask when the official update is coming. ;)

Also, seconding (thirding?) the suggestion to automatically subscribe the new user to their welcome thread so they'll know it's there.

TY again for all of your hard work! :)

After installing under vb 4.0.3 I noticed that the addon opened randomly 3 to 4 threads to the same new member. One thread stated the new member's correct nick name ("Hello username!") while the other threads where opened different ("Hello Unregistered").

This is a pitty. I hope this addon gets an overhaul soon so that I can reinstall it.

That is your right, but to be honest, if VB sticks with what they said on the release of 4.0, where anyone who wants 4.1 has to repay the licensing fees, I don't think many will. They shoved 4.0 out within just a few months of releasing it, and a lot of people run free boards, with no income from them.

However, like I said, it is your right.

You will not have to repay for 4.1.

If you payed for 4.x you will have VB up until vb 5.x.

You are entitled to any thing they release 4.1.0, 4.1.6, 4.2.x, 4.3.x.

Trust me I am not spending any more money with VB, unless they make a hell of a turn around. I do have to admit it is getting better. I want a copy of that other software and I might just like that way better. who knows I never tried it yet.

P.S. I also run a free board and pay for everything and I run no ads as I hate them.

I really do sympathize on how poorly IB has been developing vBulletin

I know A LOT here will not be quick to update to 4.1.1. So I really hope you still update for 4.1 its self.

I know it seems like a lot of us here only post to complain about how our mods are not working or request for features to be added.
