Parse Error: syntax error

Somethings happened to my forum over the holiday week. When IE users try to register they get this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /tmp/disk/home/webmaster/Files/WWW/forums/register.php(81) : eval()'d code on line 1

Anybody else wrestle with this issue?

A add-on with an plugin at hook register_start is the problem!

Check which add-on is causing this and deactivate it

I only have one plug-in installed.
