View Full Version : Show Thread Enhancements - "Find all started threads" in postbit & postbit_legacy dropdown
Lynne

fourat (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/member.php?u=247170) asked me to update his modification here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=210628) for vb4. It just adds a new option, Find all started threads, to the little postbit(_legacy) dropdown and now (in version 1.2) throughout the site.
This was just a simple plugin, but it is now a product. It was a bit more involved figuring out the variable names than any simple little plugin should have to be! Or, perhaps I was just having a bad coding day. :)

Version History:
1.0 2009-12-01: - initial release by Lynne at vbulletin.org as a plugin
1.1 2010-01-03: - Had to add a phrase and rewrite the plugin, so it's now a product.
1.2 2011-01-23: - Thanks to Boofo, this now works throughout the site. :)
1.3 2012-05-12: - Fixed template to use CSS for image. :) (changed around 4.1.12?)
To install:
1. Plugins & Products > Manage Products > Import product-product-lynne_view_threads.xml
To uninstall:
1. Uninstall "Add View Forum Threads to Postbit Dropdown"

Thanks Lynn.

Well, I'm sure it will work there too. :)
They shouldn't have added that option yet. I've seen quite a few mods released for this version.

This does not work in RC2. There are also currently no template_hooks available for use in the template for the new dropdown. I'm going to wait until the next RC release to see if that is changed.
Hello, there is a chance to have this function in gold version as in the vb older versions?
Thanks

Sorry for the delay guys. I updated this today. It really was not as simple of an update as I thought it was - sometimes figuring out variable names is a pain in the, um, well, it's not as easy as it should be! (Of course, I could be just having a bad coding day too.)

Love your Mods Lynne!

Lynne, you use $show['search'] in the if statement. are there more option's and where or how can i find these.
Lynne
01-13-2010, 08:09 PM
I use $show['search'] because you don't want to show the option if search is off. If you are wondering about other $show variables, either look in the template to see which are there or do a search in your php files for $show to find all of the $show variables defined on different pages.

There is already another mod that shows various things in that dropdown (like the users album). You can go use that one if it is what you want. This is just a simple one to just show the Threads also without all the extra code to use the other mod.

FYI, there is a conflict with the following mod:
Add Ignore User To Postbit Dropdown (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=228673)
If I disable the other mod, yours shows up. If I enable the other mod, yours disappears.

Looks like they finally fixed the issue with that template_hook. I've posted the fix in the first post until I can get around to reuploading a new version of the product.

Lynne,
The icon doesn't line up with the rest of them in 4.0.3. The fix for this is as follows:
if ($show['search'])
{
$template_hook['memberaction_dropdown_items'] .= '<li class="left">
<img src="'.vB_Template_Runtime::fetchStyleVar(imgdir_siteic ons).'/forum.png" alt="" />
<a href="search.php?'.$session[sessionurl].'do=finduser&userid='.$post[userid].'&starteronly=1&contenttype=vBForum_Post" rel="nofollow">
'.$vbphrase[view_forum_threads].'
</a>
</li>';
}
Also, is there a way to do this globally so that it works in all areas that have the dropdown when you click on the username? (forumdisplay, etc.)
Lynne

Thanks Bob.
If you want to have it show up everywhere that this template is used, then you have to write a different plugin for every area it is used in.
Boofo

I tried doing that and I couldn't get it to work in any other place.
And, you're very welcome. ;)

Does installing this mean that the "Add as Contact" (which is located where the View Forum Threads is at now) is replaced by "View Forum Threads"?

Does installing this mean that the "Add as Contact" (which is located where the View Forum Threads is at now) is replaced by "View Forum Threads"?No, it doesn't replace it. It would be shown in addition to the other stuff.

Alignment is off on 4.1.11. I ended up hard-coding the mod into memberaction_dropdown.
Thanks for the great idea though!

I just changed the template to use CSS for the image, but other than that small issue, it was working fine on my default 4.1.12 test site.

Actually, I was seeing only the image and not the phrase "View Forum Threads" after the upgrade to 4.1.12.
Re-importing (with overwrite) the product fixed that.

They changed it to the CSS for the image in 4.1.10, IIRC. Sorry I didn't catch this to let you know before.

Most likely version 1.3 if you are running the latest version of vB4.2

I'm getting an error in 4.2.1 when I click on the link from the member's dropdown:
Lynne

It works fine on my default vb4.2.1 site. I'd suggest trying with a totally default style and with all your other plugins disabled.
djbaxter
09-24-2013, 06:57 PM
Not the style - any custom styles on the forums where it wasn't working are mostly just color changes anyway.
It works on two more highly customized forums and gave that error on two other forums. The ones where it works are on a different server. Most of the plugins are the same. Disabling those that weren't the same (other than Sphinx search) mad no difference.
The ones where it wasn't working were both using Sphinx search (the digitalpoint add-on).
However, I edited the template memberaction_dropdown_lynne_view_threads as follows and then it works on the two forums with sphinx search:
Change:
<a class="siteicon_forum" href="search.php?{vb:raw session.sessionurl}do=finduser&userid={vb:raw memberinfo.userid}&starteronly=1&contenttype=vBFor um_Post" rel="nofollow">
To:
<a class="siteicon_forum" href="search.php?{vb:raw session.sessionurl}do=finduser&userid={vb:raw memberinfo.userid}&starteronly=1&contenttype=vBFor um_Thread" rel="nofollow">
which incidentally is the default link to find recently started threads on the member profile page.

Not sure if it's the upgrade to 4.2.3 or my upgrade to MariaDB.
